The front door should always be closed when the fireplace door is open. I have the same problems with my wood stove here in Germany. Best regards, Matthias
Did you figure out what the problem was? Looks like some kind of masonry heater, they usually have some kind of bypass damper in the flue somewhere to help the draft with a cold start like that. Lots of cold concrete and bricks causing a down draft from the chimney.
Its a comon problem i found out but i found a little door in the kitchen that might can help as well. the damper was open it needs to be closed once the fire is out so you can keep the heat, only then the ofen is going to get realy hot.
Not sure if this will help but I had a wood stove that did the same thing. I was told you need to get a good draft up the chimney to start with by putting your paper way in the back( hold it up to the flue) get the draft going up and then let the fire move to the rest of your wood. It worked for me. Hope it helps.
Thank you very much for the help im definately going to try that out for now im always fire up the smal stove in the kitchen first until the chimney gets some heat and after that its working quite good.
Thank you so much for the advice its much appreciated, i found the solution with the smaller oven in the kitchen and ill use that one to get the chimney warmed up first it works perfectly.

its good to prep your chimney first using a rolled up paper torch till the up take kicks in? or something with the flue if you have one?
