The official definition of symbiote is pronounced both symBIote and symBEote (both with the same spelling of course). So it's not Sony being different (I'm not defending sony don't get me wrong) it's simply the actress pronouncing the word how she reads it.
Venoms been standing on his own (or with the guardians in some cases) for a long time in the comics and symbiotes are pretty well defined as their own thing in universe. While a lot of Venom's defining traits are from Spider-man, the symbiotes natural abilities are far more than that. I think you could totally do a standalone Venom movie, jumping to the point where Venom is now. Venom doesn't need to have an angry hard on for Spider-man for him to be picky about his host, and create an interesting dynamic between the two. Do I think this movie is gonna be a good example of that? Probably not. I actually like Amazing Spider-man but the sequel took away any faith I had in Sony Pictures, which is something I can say of just about any series they make.

You know what, you guys are actually pretty great. You're everything is on point in talking about interesting things while also being genuinely funny.
Venoms been standing on his own (or with the guardians in some cases) for a long time in the comics and symbiotes are pretty well defined as their own thing in universe. While a lot of Venom's defining traits are from Spider-man, the symbiotes natural abilities are far more than that. I think you could totally do a standalone Venom movie, jumping to the point where Venom is now. Venom doesn't need to have an angry hard on for Spider-man for him to be picky about his host, and create an interesting dynamic between the two. Do I think this movie is gonna be a good example of that? Probably not. I actually like Amazing Spider-man but the sequel took away any faith I had in Sony Pictures, which is something I can say of just about any series they make.

As for Venom, I just watched it again today along with the Spider-verse movie. Still loved it. Wished it was more at the halfway point or sooner when we got the ending dynamic.

Also, Venom no longer sees Spider-Man as an ideal host, in recent years, it only likes Eddie Brock (especially Eddie as they see each other as their significant other) and Flash Thompson. It absolutely detests Spider-Man, and the only times he has bonded with Spider-Man recently is because of either Eddie of Flash telling him to do so. There's also a God of the symbiotes called Knull, so Karl you should look into that, as it's pretty cool.

Agreed,Basically they could’ve continued in a way after the explosions in the half built building in spider man three with only just a few references to that movie and I say that because before Disney got the character back those movies still are under Sony (I hope) and could’ve done a more Intimate or more emotional psychological aspect of the dichotomy between Eddie and venom with an R rating as well as featuring a pre-glimpse of carnage and a slightly more of an origins storyline in continuous development of the character from spider man 3.
