  • This is a quick video I used to answer a question about how to merge data in two columns of an Excel spreadsheet. This solution uses the CONCATENATE() function in Excel to "merge" data from two columns into a third column.
You can also find written instructions about the Concatenate function from Microsoft's help center here: office.microsof...

it's 1:25am and just found this. You Sir are nothing but 1st Class / Top Shelf as us old geezers would say. You know you have nailed this lesson when someone like me can understand it. Been trying to learn Concatenate as a beginner. If you could see the SMILE on my face. Explained it in the most simplest language. Thanks Again.

Smart man. There is a lot of paid solutions for this simple and bulletproof trick. A lot of ppl create monsters with VB and macros, a lot of them also confuses the crap out of it to eventually turn you into the paid ones. This is exactly how this so frequently needed and notoriously overlooked by microsoft developers can be worked around. - Thanks Mel

Thank you, this is so easy. I searched for a while to find this; most people seem to mistakenly believe that you need plugins to do this, but I guess they just don't know how to use excel!

Hi @jessthecoyote Re: ur question, you'd do the same procedure as 1:50 in the video. But just replace the hyphen with a period. (Make sure to put the period in quotes.) e.g., =Concatenate(A1,".",B1) Alternatively, you can use =A1&"."&B1 Like that. 'Hope that helps!

Doesn't work with numbers with 00 at the beginning of either of the numbers in any cell.

The formula omits the 00 in the output, any thoughts?
