If you haven't already made the connection, in "Forrest Gump", during the scene at the Washington Mall, the guy cursing and screaming into the mic is supposed to be Abbey Hoffman. And if you've never read, "Steal This Book" by Abbey, do so-- it's a classic (but son't steal it).

I was maybe 11 or maybe 12 years old with my Parents in Manhattan. We went into a Bookstore. It may have been the Collesium Bookstore which was a Big Bookstore at one time. I saw the book- "Steal the Book" and I instinctively took it I was 11 or 12 years old and I had no idea what the book was about, but I guess the Book gave a Subliminal suggestion to me and I just took it.
A clerk caught me and grabbed me and I just told him the Book says- Steal the Book and that is what I did. The Clerk let me go and my parents just strugged off the Event. I was and still is a NIce, Jewish Boy ( a much older boy now) Stealing and Shoplifting is not my thing.
I read later that the book owner had to start keeping that book under lock and key because so many people just started stealing that book. I, personally think the Publishers of the Book should have insisted Abbie use another title, but that would have been against the spirit of Abby Hoffman's beliefs.

He would pause a scene and say "this tire is cgi, this door wasn't here we put that in after, this was a stuntman and we digitally put the actor's face on him" and he did it with such gusto and joy that he didn't realize that was the exact reason the movie itself sucked.

The only 2 critiques I've heard about this movie is that they didn't truly capture how much of a circus show this trial was, the judge and one of the lawyers were literally going at it verbally throughout the trial, the judge was showing racism by saying how he wasn't racist. The judge also hated these people. Pretty much, this trial was a massive waste of taxpayer's dollars because almost every decision was reversed on appeal due to the judge's behaviour. The second critique was with Joseph Gordon Levitt doing the most unrealistic legal trope that is done in every legal movie or tv show. He walked into the well and approached the jury. You get tackled if you do that without permission.

If you believe Abbie never said a kind word to Tom Hayden until the end of the movie, it does not go with what was portrayed on screen, which shows Abbie making several attempts to reach out to Hayden only to be rebuffed. The comments made in the video by Cohen and Sorkin left me confused as to what movie I actually watched.

I was about 20 minutes into the film until I realised it was Sacha playing Abby. I had to pause the film to confirm using Google. Brilliant acting, brilliant film.

It's a shame Abbie internalized the politics until the pain overwhelmed his survival. Son Andrew Hoffman worked to give Boston a safe injection site/needle exchange, long before there was an opoid eppidemic

Hearing Sacha say my name (my name's Abigail but everyone calls me Abbey) so many times is just surreal🥰 and my brother's name is Aaron 😂

Great insight to the workings behind a great film.
I only wonder why Sacha keeps calling Aaron “Air-on”, but it’s probably an inside joke.

My mom watched this movie and notoriously hated Borat and was like, “That borat actor was terrible.” I asked, “How’d you like Trial of Chicago 7?” She answered, “It was good! I really liked Abbie. That actor did a good job.” When I told her it was the same actor as Borat, she didn’t believe me.”
