  • Faith Mwagandi has made history as the first woman to commande a warship in Kenya. Born in the conservative coastal region, Faith was determined to push back against gender stereotypes - and protect her country's shores.

Wow. Cheers Major Faith Mwangandi and hail our Kenya Navy. I am impressed and feeling extremely proud as a Kenyan watching this video. Major, you exude confidence and your articulation is very nice indeed. Allow me the space to salute all our female officers serving in the Kenya Defense Forces. One of the unique identities and character of the KDF is the equal opportunity of excellence granted to female officers within the rank and file of our nation's military establishment. On behalf of all patriotic Kenyans I want to wish Major Mwangandi and Captain Salome Mwika the best of luck in duty and service to our beloved nation. Major may you one day be appointed the Commander of our esteemed Kenya Navy. Cheers.

This is really encouraging. How comes Kenyan news have never focused on her? Its weird that DW tv recognized her first.

Have you heard of meritocracy? She'd never get the job if she wasn't qualified.
