I feel that for this model you can't really use the tyypical "cost per part" calculation, because so many of the parts are large and complex. Like the boom sections - it would take maybe 20-30 normal parts to make one of those boom panels. I bought it and think it's an awesome set. Plenty of scope for mods and extension. By the way your scale calculation of 1:500 is way off. The track is around 16 inches long. At 1:500 scale that would make the real tracks nearly 700 feet long. But great video nonetheless.
