    I can’t say what it taste like, but as a kid who wasn’t crazy about vegetables, I had this with melted butter as a 10 yo at a friend’s grandmother’s house. I remember to this day loving it.

    So you eat a small tiny part, and then discard the whole leaf? Sounds like a lot of work for little pay off.

      Because they dont have bamboo like in Asia. The texture is exactly same - maybe that's what they're craving for. Freshly cooked artichoke has a mild sweet aftertaste though...

      1:53 min. No, the 80 +- leaves have edible pulp too on the bottom half of each🍃 by scraping with your teeth. Pull & dip the pulp in Ex: seasoned 🧈 or 🥑 mayo. Family loves dipping eating😋Deelish👍🏼

  • @frankgunold268
    @frankgunold268 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What do artichokes taste like? In general, the taste of an artichoke is difficult to describe. Depending on the type and preparation method, the taste can be sweet, but bitter and nutty flavors can also be found. The inside of the leaves usually tastes slightly tart and slightly bitter.

    I had no idea there was a particular way to eat these. And again I've learned something new on this channel 😀 My local Indian supermarket in the UK sells these 🇬🇧 It seems they are a vegetable a bit like the outer leaves on globe artichokes in that you only eat part of them.
    Also, don't laugh: for years when I saw Indian recipes talking drumsticks, I thought they were talking about chicken. In the UK drumsticks mean chicken legs... 😄 it was an eye opener to realise it was a vegetable 😀

    There is so little to eat in the leaves, to me it's not worth making. The best part is the heart, which is what is used in artichoke dip and I buy that in a can. What she's tasting is not so much the artichoke, which kind of has a bland asparagus taste, but the toppings she's put on like garlic and lemon.

    Explaining taste is hard, like dipping a buttery thick blessing of feeling fibrous texture that you use your teeth to scrape off meaty thick semi soft buttery greens like a pea texture soaked in salty butter while your teeth get a thick chewable texture you dont have to eat, like crab being sucked out of a crab leg then dipped in salty butter

If only they sold these freakin plants at a much lower Price. Who wants to pay a lot of money just to eat a small amount and still remain hungry??? I'm Still going to try it. But I find it wasteful and messy with a long cooking time.
