  • Global News sat down with the widow of the gunman behind Monday’s murder-suicide in Don Mills.
    She spoke of the alleged mortgage fraud she says led her husband to commit such a violent act.
    Alisa Pogorelovsky said from her Aurora, Ont., home Thursday that her husband, Alan Kats, felt like he had no choice and was “pushed to the edge.”
    Arash Missaghi and Samira Yousefi were shot dead on Monday in an office building off Mallard Road in North York, near Don Mills and York Mills roads.
    Global’s Sean O’Shea has more.

Before the pandemic I supported justin trudean but ever since he announced a sudden election in 2021. I started to notice this man was heading in the wrong direction. The power got to his head and he started becoming terrible at his job. Now every second day I heard about someone randomly getting murdered or robbed. Sounds like that the scammers talked these people into taking out a home equity line of credit in order to use the money for private mortgage lending. Usually private mortgages charge much higher rates than traditional banks, up to double or more and also charge high finders fees and admin costs. Its a very risky venture to begin with, since the only way to recoup your money is if the borrower sells their home and pays you back, or another lender steps in to cover the amount borrowed. Real sad what happened to this family, this sort of thing unfortunately happens quite often and this man went out and did what most of us wish we could do to those who wrong us and our families. The male fraudster had a history of doing this, and his family probably enjoyed a lucrative life style from it. Alan Kats just saved countless people from being victimized by this fraudster, by sacrificing his own life. RIP to a good man.

      the couple ripped off is a LOT younger than I expected. even the legitimate section of this kind of industry in Canada (advertised by a former Olympic skater and news caster that OWNS the company) it's still risky and you should use only stand alone capital. Basically , the rip off would mean he'd have ten to fifteen years recovering his credit rating and life. AND the biggest insult is it's your own people, your own culture, in a country far from the village. Sad.

    I was robbed of all my belongings which were stored in two sea cans in Alberta. A camera took pictures of the license plates so the police knew who the robbers were. However, because the camera never caught the faces of the burglars the police said they couldn't do anything because they don't know for certain who was driving the truck. I asked if the truck had been reported stolen and they said "no". The officers eventually gave them a tress passing ticket. The woman did not show up for three court appearances. I was told if she did not show up for the third court appearance there would be a warrant for her arrest. The judge did not issue a warrant however. She moved to a different town and I have no idea where. I have requested an investigation into the RCMP. They dropped the ball on the investigation for months and finally started it. For the court order, I have to make a complaint about that separately.

    He was more than a great father great husband and a friend. He wanted justice for his family. He was a victim to crime that no authority had power to help. What would do is someone robbed you of all your life savings ?

    He shouldn't kill himself. He probably will only get 15 years in prison for the double murder then parole after 10 years. Probably get released in 5 years for good behaviour in prison.

    Please don't blame others for your mistake,/greed by saying you asked for help.
    You and your husband did not seek help when you gave them the money.
    I agree no one should defraud any person. But please anyone out there who wants to invest; go to a bank or reputable institution.

    • @AsianDoug
      @AsianDoug 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right, because banks are soooo reputable. They 100% did not scam and fraud their way to an entire financial world collapse of the housing/mortgage market. They definitely did not wipe out millions of people's life savings, and then get bailed out by those exact same people. Banks are the most greedy and most shady of all - they just market themselves better lol.
