If you didn't notice at 10:40 in the anime when Jinwoo says "I need a stronger force", Kim Chul's sword is stuck in the snow next to Jinwoo. When those 3 mages summon that big fireball, the camera pans over to Kim Chul waking up and his sword is laying on the ground in front of him. Jinwoo used the fireball explosion to knock Chul's sword to him. When Kim Chul was charging at Jinwoo, Jinwoo says "Kim Chul, I knew that would be your next move" and as Kim Chul is dying he says "you knew... this would happen." It was all planned by Jinwoo to kill Kim Chul and turn him into a shadow soldier because he needed a "stronger force." It's a good showing of Jinwoo's mind changing and getting darker. Also it shows Jinwoo is using the system to his advantage because he wouldn't have killed Kim Chul unless it was in self defense so he orchestrated a scenario where the system would have forced him to kill Chul.
I think there has been a mistranslation about what Song yi (the sister's friend) said after Jinwoo drops her off... when she said "see you tomorrow...or whenever the time is" what she really meant was "see you tomorrow-- no it's see you later" because, the red gate ended early morning and later in the same day they have to complete the 19 C rank gates with Jinho...so they literally will see each other again...I hope I didn't make it more confusing ^^
I love that they include the goofy moments with the shadows a lot of them are quite funny. I was worried about that seeing they are skipping a lot of minor scenes to keep the pacing up. I think the Elf was low tier S because Jinwoo needed Igris and Iron to help defeat him and Igris and Iron are A Rank and Jinwoo is A Rank as well but to be clear ranks also have high,mid and low tier,the way Jinwoo handled Kim Chul,I believe Kim had to be low tier A

17:00 So the reason JinWoo killed Kimchul was better explained in the Manhwa but basically as JinWoo stated he didn’t have enough strong allies to help him take down Barca so in the manhwa (and it’s also in the anime but wasn’t emphasized) when he was standing across from Barca you can see Kim’s sword just behind JinWoos legs stuck in the snow while Kim’s facedown on the ground farther back so JinWoo kicks the sword towards Kim while rushing Barca and with inner dialogue compels Kim to get up and grab his sword and help him deal with the boss but instead Kim is too obsessed with Revenge and chose to attack and kill JinWoo instead which of course JinWoo called it and figured hey I gave you a chance to do the right thing and unfortunately for you I need your strength whether you cooperate or not so it’s 100 percent justified Kim deserves to die 😂 sorry for the long reply love your reaction videos keep up the amazing work yall and can’t wait to see yall again next week ❤
Even if he hadn't have been hoping Kimchul would help, at the end of the day, the guy was a distraction in a fight that was already leaning in Barca's favor. Also, this guy was beyond saving, he had already tried to murder the lower ranks a few minutes before. It was definitely the right choice to finish off Kimchul, he was just a stain that needed to be removed.

There is a fan theory that never was confirmed that jinwoo actually kicked the sword to kim to also further make him want to kill him so there would be no reprecussions when he killed him

But then they left out the part where Jinwoo pulls the sword out and kicks it towards Kim, instead just showing Kim reach out and pick up the sword laying on the ground before running to attack Jinwoo. The anime never shows how the sword went from standing upright embedded in the snow to laying down next to Kim.
One point, this is a crappy world. I don't think we've seen mass destruction in season 1 but they show one of the failed Jeju raids. Jeju island has a population of nearly 700k so thousands of people died from the dungeon break. We've seen several hunters commit/attempt straight murders in dungeons and know it wasn't their first time. I don't argue the morality of Jinwoo's choice to kill Kim Chul, but the rules of their world are very different from ours especially in regards to hunters.
Important about the gate. It was NOT a C-rank gate. In the Manwha you find out that the gate was mislabeled by the Hunger association due to a malfunctioning measuring device.
Hunter's Association could be thought of as a guild, since it is a group, but they are really a governing body for lower ranked hunters that can mediate with the government. Training can increase your ability to fight efficiently with your powers, but it does not increase your powers at all. It's like being strong but being defeated by a slightly weaker opponent due to them having more battle experience than you. An A rank cannot defeat an S rank, no matter how much training is done, but there are levels among ranks and one A rank could separate themselves from the rest of the A ranks. Yes, the shadows have their own personalities, but they do not have their own wills to disobey their master ever. Think of it like the creatures forged by Isaac in Castlevania...he spoke with them to learn about their thoughts, but they still had to obey him even though he had them operating against their nature. Jinwoo's shadows have their individual personalities, but they 100% obey the orders given to them. The issue Jinwoo is recognizing is in having them behave how he wants if he does not give specific orders to them.
Yall are forgetting one thing but they didnt show it but they showed it enough last season that we should know it happens by now just like we know he levels up after killing a enemy. So yall remember if someone trys to kill him the system props him to kill if human enemies have killing intent
