The fact you are not partnered is an absolute atrocity. You are the sole reason myself and many others were even able to stick around long enough to enjoy this game, your guides are absolutely invaluable. You are able to convey the information in a way that a brand new player will not be confused, and yet keep it concise enough so a longtime veteran doesn't feel like they are wasting their time. Thanks again for all that you do

    Short answer No
Long answer. Definitly no. Game is fun when you start for couple hrs. You get to loop doing things over and over. Pvp is for end game group of privilage people and guilds. Game is literally about doing anything for crazy long time. You have to complete countless quests and tasks like Bartali, All journals etc. You get to point where you have to spend thousands of hrs for small upgrades. You dont even have to enhance bcs its easier to just buy items. Endless grinding hrs for literally nothing and i can continue here ... people get to point where quiting Feels just so bad bcs of hrs they put into game. Most of people are selling accounts now and game is going down every year with updates and population. Overall this game is waste of your time. It brings only frustrations and you literally spend thousands of hrs doing something you dont like to do to get something you dont need ...

Questing is boring, the story is cliche AF, there WAY TOO MANY SYSTEMS, the game does an awful job at explaining you how the 30000000000 systems work, balance is out the table, the devs cant decide if they are making raids or dungeons, new classes seem to be copy paste with a bit of a change, the grind is insane. 10/10 would recommend, ONLY because when it comes to the combat system theres no equal to BDO.

BDO currently is a game that tries to appeal to newbies and PvE players without substantial PvE content aside from 3 dungeons and a lacklustre Boss rush. If you're thinking about end game stuff forget about it. It's just grinding a bit faster as your gear up. Once you reach hard cap. There's nothing to do since most PvP content nowadays is capped meaning your gears almost doesn't matter and the removal of one sided guild war declarations killed open-world PvP. Castles are mostly controlled and rotated by a single big alliance. Node wars are just zergfest. Arsha is just another grinding channel with additional drop rate. If you like having 3 dungeons and 5 boss rush per week, Good luck. If you like PvP, this game died a long time ago.

Reflecting on my years with Black Desert Online, I feel it's necessary to issue a caution for those considering the game in 2024. My main concern lies with the Game Masters' performance in customer support. It appears they lack the necessary tools to effectively investigate and resolve issues related to in-game bugs, missing items, and other player grievances. Despite being the frontline responders to support tickets, their ability to assist feels inadequate, bordering on ineffectual. This situation has significantly impacted the overall game experience, suggesting a disconnect between player needs and the support structure in place. My advice is not just a parting word but a warning: potential players should weigh these considerations heavily. There's a critical need for a systemic overhaul of the support team to ensure Black Desert Online can live up to its potential and deliver the immersive, engaging experience it promises.

I started playing this game as a Guardian, as it seemed a very easy and relaxed PvE option. I played the season, only hit 60, and then decided to start a life-skilling Shai as a side-character/break. 2-3 years later, my Shai is closing in on level 62, all of that XP has come from LS, and I'm consistently in the top 5 on my server for multiple lifeskills. The freedom this game gives is awesome! Follow the story? (only recently started LotML). As for PvP, my shai has been killed once, whilst fishing, just outside of the safezone(which I didn't realise at the time). My guild at the time saw my death spam, and swiftly punished the offender! 11/10 - would die fishing on the beach again!

I jump out of my ship in some floating debris to fish. It was a serene moment. And after about 20 mins, I was just checking out the scenery and was like..”oh look, someone ship is incoming…..wait….that’s my ship!” It had drifted away and now I had to swim in a monster infested waters to my boat, hoping I wouldn’t lose stamina and drown, lol. Almost got 2k hours into that game, been doing some ocean content here and there recently, the first time I was out on my ship (just getting knowledge from the islands around the main one) the weather changed and was starting to look quite dark, it started raining, storming with lightning.. I just sat there and looked at it for like 15 mins and was like "woah, how pretty" not gonna lie, i do that sometimes here and there when I want to take a break.

The first 3 years that I played I spent $0 That being said it is much more of a grind. Pearl does give you upgrades from time to time I never used them and have been playing with the Value packs that is the only one that I normally keep active. Mainly because it increases the amount of silver you make on the market. When I first started playing the combat system was very hard for me to understand coming from WOW, over time I did learn to use the rotations and set up combos that I have satanized so that most of my classes play much in the same patterns. it is not the most effective play but it does work most of the time. Adding classes does improve the game but focus on one class for a main is best in my opinion. You do get perks from having alts but you do not have to actively play them. I have use many of my alts for Life skills but Pearl did announce these will become family and not per character base at some point. I mostly AFK train Horses myself now more than anything, But I did play in a PVP guild at one point and it is a much different game with War and nodes it can be a very busy process. On some servers it was very intense I am just to slow for that type of Game these days.

Just a clarification on questing: certain gear progression (fallen god armor) requires main story questing for certain regions. Fallen God armor requires O'dyllita, Labreska's Helmet requires Mountain of Eternal Winter, Dahn's Gloves requires Land of the Morning Light, etc. Also, certain cities' NPCs don't become available to use (e.g. storage keeper in O'draxxia) until you do the related main story questline up to a certain point.

Eventually every one should do the whole story once to unlock a lot of things. Such as: the ability for future season characters to skip the quest line, crystal slots, increase in default enhancement chance from 0 to +5, more storage space, extra power (AP, DP, Stamina etc), systems like gathering mini game (increase by x10), unlocking the fast travel and connected storage with the Magnus, and on and on. Do all the “main quests” at least once on your account. You will come upon a few blocks that require it eventually.

It's nerd spreadsheet heaven. Every system of the game has been deliberately made painful and confusing much more than it has to be. With a ridiculous amounts of currencies, crafting materials and busy work. The sheer number of guides tells it all. Underneath that is a beautiful world to explore it's just dragged down by the above and forced PVP.

My biggest gripe with BDO is same as always since the game launched. Gear downgrading/destruction is not something im a fan of. Id rather have a low chance to farm a boss or area for a guaranteed upgrade than play the slot simulator on upgrading. People that are luckier than you just have slightly to greatly increased gear than you and that makes me feel like "skill" doesnt matter in this game like I feel it should.

As someone who has about 47k "hours" logged in BDO, i will say that the reason i love this game is because of the flexibility. I dont have to play if im tired from work. I can read my books, do chores around my house, etc. and i don't feel like im getting left behind. I can see my characters busy processing, which makes me money, horse training, which makes me money, or gaining slow but steady exp on dummies without me having to grind. I earn gold while afk, which i use to buy cute outfits without having to spend actual money, and i love that. I think this game is perfect for working adults.

The enchancement system in bdo is pretty much lose one year of progress in one day, it may succeed now and then and hopefully is something important to the max stage like a pen blackstar weapon but for most players it is the reason why they quit the game at least once, lost all they're money and the fails don't even make sense, failing 20 times in a row , one guy failed on his tri fallen god armor 60 times in a row that is over 600% succes rate if you add that up, i also had multiple experiences as such but never failed more than 30 times in a row , my last failing spree was 22 fails in a row. So if you're not prepared to take a beating until 1000% cumulative succes rate do not touch the enchancement system.

If you like MMO's for PvE content where you do dungeons/raids with other players, BDO is a big letdown. It's a shame because there's a lot of other elements to like about this game, but it's for the most part a solo experience, not a PvE focused mmo. If you like PvP, you'll never be competitive in the PvP content that actually matters unless you whale to catch up to current top players.

Levelling from 58-61 is fastest with quests. Also, no one is stopping you from actually going through the storyline. There's A LOT of story to go through, tons of intrigue and plot twists. The only thing locking you into grinding and out of the rest of the content is you.

BDO has a great character creator, but as far as gameplay and housing... Enshrouded has it beat.
BDO is like a crypto-mining AFK game where you leave your PC on 24/7 and have a long marathon grind. Then you can RNG lose all your progression and end up worse than before you put in all that effort. Playing with others is worse for your progression so you're forced to solo.
Enshrouded has amazing combat with timed blocked stun locking enemies. A world that feels like a good level of challenge. High reward for time invested. Playing with friends is HELPFUL.

To be honest :( I tried to give BDO a chance again - but yeah i guess mid-way i gave it up coz there's just too long of a story quest to complete before we can get properly geared. May be its not for me - I really loved the combat tho very unique and engaging. But there are just annoying quest lines which are sometimes nonsense and a waste of time.

When I played BDO, I always appreciated your content. My own personal 2 cents is that there just isn't enough to keep me around. Once you reach 60+, your progression becomes severely halted by that upgrade system. Spending 200+ hours trying to get 1 item to drop for Unlimited Potions is also not my idea of a good time. The Cash Shop certainly has a lot of pretty things, but the pricing could be significantly better. Especially the "monthly" bonuses you NEED if you're going to make meaningful gains as you play. All in all, I do not feel the gameplay itself values my time. I got Scholar to 61... enjoyed it... was fun. Then there was just nothing that actually interested me. And I actually REALLY love the combat in this game. I personally feel the "Seasons" progression should be the BASELINE progression of the game. Then it would really value the time and effort you actually put into the game beyond level 60. I will say, this game has improved significantly since Pearl Abyss took over... unfortunately for me personally, it's just not enough to keep me playing it right now.

To be honest, calling black desert pay to play isnt even true, because there are events to do something very easy that takes 1-2 hours of gameplay like lvl up some char and earn the game account for free just about every year.
As a female i have nothing but rage for the character creation screen and the extremely limited color options and horrible make up options!!!! Also adjusting the hair is practically a non factor. I sometimes wonder if i write them a huge list of recommendations, would it be worth it or just a waste of my time, as there is so much more to be improved. Customizing the voice is.. well.. not really that big of an option, it's nice that it's there, but it's so poorly done. There are also many more issues i have with the menus and what not.... it's not the best game when it comes to creating an original character, by far!
But yes, i agree with everything else you have said about the other systems in the game.
Oh, but also it's worth pointing out that there unlike few years ago now there is free op op op gears and free t9 dream horse and those are really huge gifts for the new players, because it means we can just about go and kill stuff in most of the areas and the horse is fully trained, which saves us from doing the ultra boring training for each horse skill.

@@CristiNeagu i would argue that Perfect World international, a very old MMO has better options in regard to make up and make up colors, skin colors, modifying each part of the face, size of the body and you can pick any color you want, any hairstyle you want, mix and match so many outfits, which always results in a very cohesive look for the characters. Try out a fun server and you can spend literally days making cool looking characters and messing with the settings. I agree that majority of MMOs are boring af when it comes to customizing, which is their loss, but Black desert still has much room for improvement also.

As a long time 10k+ hour player I can tell you the game is not in a good state for end game gearing. It is actually a hella shallow game right now.
End game is fallen god/debo enhancing cron stone hell. You have two choices buy from the p2w/enhancers or grind 150+ super efficient hours to buy an upgrade. Not fun or satisfying either way. Another option is to camp the market place for costumes to melt for crons but when there are no good pearl deals it slows down a lot.
