Ironically, both hat and helmet have been painted the correct colour - although greenish, it is a Wehrmacht colour, called 'Field Grey'. I know that you restore toys to how they were when new, but the Grey 'Coalscuttle' of the German really bothered me when I had one as a kid, and I repainted mine in basic olive green. The grey helmet would have stuck out like a sore thumb, and I never liked it. I always wanted Palitoy to make a Ski hat for the German, the much loved M43 'Feldmutzehalbe' (they probably do nowadays), as it was such a popular piece of gear. Great work, as always.
70's kid here... I had 3 Action Men. It was the treat of the week to go down to the local toy shop and spend ones pocket money on a new outfit for them. I remember, once, getting the German officer uniform and a British one (that came with a VC medal). I always liked the German uniforms though... Great video! :)
Jodhpur is the type trousers the officer needs to be wearing. You really lucked out on those helmet stickers. Good thing that you had the foresight to check the helmet after the first 10 minute soak! Nice video, man!
When I saw that first shot of the two Action Men dressed in German uniforms, this thought ran through my mind: 'Where Eagles Dare'. Eastwood and Burton. All together now: "Broadsword calling Danny Boy. Broadsword calling Danny Boy." The paint on the cap and helmet is, in fact, the correct colour, which, although greenish, is called German Field Grey, and most helmets, caps and hats (I have a real M43 Ski hat in German Field Grey) were this colour. Very seldom were helmets left the bright primer grey. Makes for a lovely target.
Bruce and all the other good souls who donated to Toy Polloi..what a great act of generosity..and to know these items will be restored and utilized and most likely be put on display...good going..i do not collect or have any of these items..i just enjoy this channel and content..
BRILLIANT coverage of my favourite toy ACTION MAN. A little tip, if you or anyone out there can't get glossy sticky paper. Print out as normal and put clear cellotape across the decal. It is really easy , press it down and cut. All of your idea's for restoration are so good. Will you be reproducing the Arctic map for the polar explorer in the future. Dave in the UK.
This is brilliant - Thank you! I only just re-strung my very first '70s Action Man, as per your Deep Sea Diver restoration, and have started to restore him fully as a German Staff Officer, so this has been great. Thank you again. Be safe :).
My Father absolutely hated these two German outfits and wouldn’t have anything to do with them and couldn’t understand why a boy wanted them, Many years later I understood it was because he fought in WW2 , But the ones I had got the rough end of play often and were either shot or taken prisoner and even shot for spying lol!.
Inspiring work you do. I admire your patience in getting materials together slowly, and then having that wabi sabi sensibility when you're putting things together. Very Zen. Very wu wei. We should all be so content with moving at the pace of nature, and finding joy in the small, simpler things. Cheers.
Thanks Simon. I try to provide as many as I can for free so everyone can have a go. And hopefully they are of use. Plenty more to come in the future. Cheers
Your behind the scenes video is exactly how i go about putting my uniforms & outfits together! Great minds think alike Dave ;-) you doing these video's means that i dont have to! lol
0:33 Brutus if I remember correctly. You had to save tokens from Action Man accessories and then send them off to get your doggy. I hope I still have mine!
I get proper excited when you do AM vids - my favourite! Another great job and once again, I learn something! I wonder if VAM MAN will have any helmet clips left before I get there!! 😂
hi Dave another brilliant video.loved the behind the scenes extras.ive had an idea (dangerous for me). could you not make another iron cross using the blue moulding block and milliput.like you did for the berets until you find a replacement one
Wonder if you kept the eagle emblem blank and printed onto a clear sheet -- then stuck it to a bit of aluminum duct tape (it's thinner than standard duct tape) -- then stick that to the helmet after cutting it out. Would give you that original silver/chrome look.
Some great tips in this vid, really interestng. I've learnt though never to wash clothing in anything than cold soapy water , to revent the dye running. Whites in a combo of bleach, washing detergent and boiling water and an overnight soak though, come up a treat, apart from fust stains - haven't found a way to remove/cover those up. Thanks!
Bro, you should use nitrile gloves when you are touching break fluid and melty paint. A box of them is pretty cheap and it saves your hands from getting nasty!
Remember in Dad's Army when had to dress up in German uniforms for the War Office propaganda film? Sergeant Wilson and Pike have to dress as Officers as they are the only ones that fit the uniforms from costume department, Sergeant Wilson stands in front of the mirror admiring himself and saying to Pike that the Germans really know how to make a good uniform and how elegant they both look... Lol.
I saw a guy in German uniform gi joe, pretty faded out but still only $20 should’ve got it Edit I found where the section of the flea market that closed and had said gi joes went but it only had a singly 1990’s joe! Not even a price tag! I remember 1964-1970’s gi Joes there!
Hi there. Love your videos. In this video you mention having hard to find fittings and that they tend to be broken when you find them. Have you considered getting the complete parts 3D printed. That way you could make as many accessories as you want. Or would this convene some form of legislation
One day I'll get one. But I try to show fixes that anyone can do. And not many people have access to a 3d printer. So for now I'll stick to fixes that can be easily re-created.
I have a gi joe who only has A hat and pants perfect condition figure though I just need to find shoes and shirts and guns Edit: made a shirt Edit two got boooooots
@@toypolloi ok just in case you didn't know 😊 on another note : would like to see you do replacement parts ,with milliput and bluestuff for example. Always fun to watch your videos. Keep up the good work!
😂The officer got a battlefield promotion and being on the frontline- has not gotten his britches...there's a war going on you know- what with the RAF and French resistance harrassing and sabotageing supplies and all that🤓

Your Action Man series is my absolute favorite, I can't express that enough. Thank you!
PRETTY COOL GERMAN SOLDIERS! LOVE THE INFO! GOT TO FIND THOSE STICKERS FOR HELMET!
Yet another fantastic video 👏
Just restored a German Stormtrooper model with your guide helping identify all the right parts from my collection 😀
Jodhpur is the type trousers the officer needs to be wearing. You really lucked out on those helmet stickers. Good thing that you had the foresight to check the helmet after the first 10 minute soak! Nice video, man!
Really nice! Excellent workmanship. Impressive!
Love the bonus behind the scenes look as well. thank you!👍

After a stressful day, sitting down with glass of brandy chilling whilst watching this as memories of my 2 Action Men 1 with Eagle eyes are wakened .
Sounds like a perfect way to wind down for the weekend 👍
Damn man, you done don’t know how many of this restorations and it’s just amazing every time 👍🏽
These look cool I might start collecting these

Well said, Gabriel, after all, we can not stop the river with our hand, or make it go faster.
another entertaining vid...oh the behind-the-scenes extra was unexpected but welcomed
The quality of your work is outstanding. I hope you earn a few quid from these endeavours.
Great job. The helmets look more ww1, rather than ww2.
Just a massive thank you for all the stickers that you provide
Thanks Simon. I try to provide as many as I can for free so everyone can have a go. And hopefully they are of use.

Another good one 😀
Enjoyed the end tutorial.
Take care.

I had two stormtroopers from the Joe line my officer was an Action Man he had a greatcoat as I remember.
You really need a command bunker! Ok, mostly because i used to have one, but these guys need something to do.
I get proper excited when you do AM vids - my favourite! Another great job and once again, I learn something! I wonder if VAM MAN will have any helmet clips left before I get there!! 😂
I'm sure they will. But go quickly!

46 comments and not a single like?! How is that possible? Here's one and keep up with the good work!

Could work. Worth a try at least.
Could the eagle be left White and Then a silver dot paintet on to the paper before printning the Black outer?
Looks like you won't be running out of hand grenades any time soon! 😁
Ha ha. Yeah, I don't know how I have ended up with so many of them. It's crazy.
20:46 made me laugh for some reason. Just the combination of the way you said gun and how quickly the accessory appears in frame...
Great video 👍☯️👍

Oh and yes...Hugo Boss made uniforms for the SS and SA so your attention to loose threads is in keeping with the authentic "haute couture"

Is that the episode when they try to pop the German dinghy with an arrow..... LOL.
I saw a guy in German uniform gi joe, pretty faded out but still only $20 should’ve got it

Is action man a UK version of the vintage 12inch GIJoe by Hasbro? They look very similar.
I have a gi joe who only has A hat and pants perfect condition figure though I just need to find shoes and shirts and guns
Edit: made a shirt
Edit two got boooooots
I do not know if it is possible ,,you could print over silver paper,,like from a chocolat bar,,to make those emblims
I could use the heads and space ranger gear
awesome video ty
Some useless information - the red piping on the epaulettes mean they belong to an artillery unit/regiment.
Do you have a video of how to re-attach action man head
Yep. I've covered both types of head repair, and all sort of other repairs.
@@toypolloi thank I will look at the vids any problems I will get in . Touch
Where do you get your action men
Ebay, toy fairs, flea markets, facebook groups.
Thank you I have just picked up a couple outfits
Maps is in English 😂😂
Damn, they look good tho!!
They must have stolen them :D
Are these illegal to sell online
*HOT SOAPY WATER*
you maybe can find guns on a webstore like Wish
Are these hard to find and illegal to own in usa
Why?
The brake fluid breaks away the paint.
Just want to point out that brake fluid does go into your skin when exposed to it. Use gloves.
If you are allergic to it then I would suggest wearing gloves. In small amounts like this it’s not harmful.
@@toypolloi ok just in case you didn't know 😊 on another note : would like to see you do replacement parts ,with milliput and bluestuff for example. Always fun to watch your videos. Keep up the good work!
The color the helmet was painted would be a more proper color than that light grey
Rusk Gaming ....True in reality, but not original to the toy.
3 naked action men, have you no shame man lol
When using Brake Fluid, you really should be wearing rubber gloves.. I mean, if it'll strip paint it surely can't be very good for your skin.
Not sure if youre aware but brake fluid / skun contact is not a good thing. Skin and joint problems can lie ahead.
It's fine in small amounts like this, just make sure to wash your hands afterwards.

Da muss ich doch einfach einen Kommentar in deutscher Sprache schreiben, gute Arbeit !
