Had mine nearly a month now and I'm really enjoying it, light and nimble to handle at just 99kgs, nippy enough from a standing start with power assist upto 20mph and it'll get upto 60 on a calm day, 55 with head winds no problem, would have liked abit more for dual carriage way use but it's more than enough for city/town commuting to work like I do.
Styling wise it's abit marmite as you say, I'm not a fan of the exhaust design or cover, but then I do like the F1 styled side pods and the sharp lines running throughout the plastics.
Braking wise the front disc is more than sufficient for quick emergency stops combined with the rear drum which you can always adjust to add abit more bite/feel.
Storage wise you're not getting a full face helmet in, chains, locks, waterproofs, shopping etc isn't a problem infact you can get quite abit in if you organise it right.
I'm getting over 100mpg from a little over £5 worth of Esso Synergy Super Unleaded.
All in all it's a tidy little 125 for a superb price, you get the reputation of the Yamaha brand combined with a 2 year warranty and 2 year roadside assistance, at £2300 brand new you would be silly to get any other scooter on the market that is competing at that price point like Sym's, Lexmoto's, Keeway's etc they're simply not competing with the offering of Yamaha and the history and repuation.
10/10 for me as a first time rider and Yamaha customer, feel a certain loyalty to the brand now and will be looking at an NMAX in a couple of years time.

Why do these types of reviews always neglect ergonomics? Normal size ppl seem to assume everybody else is exactly the same size

I'm 5'8 and around 55kg, I sit comfortably on the seat in quite a forward position with my feet flush against the footboard
You do have the ability to shuffle back as it's a wide seat and extend your legs for a more relaxed approach, I do tend to do this on longer journies.
Obviously if you're an absolute giant over 6'5+ you're going to struggle but honestly it's a very accomodating ride at a very good price.

      Because of cooling.
Air cooled bikes are usually less powerful
