I play on Nintendo and bushes are pretty good
Questing on switch is so nice I can see everything. Little sand lake in panjura on ps5 I usually skip acorns but on switch they are so easy to find

The low foliage setting for pc definitely seems to have the smallest number of bushes, best tactical advantage!

Things make so much sense now... I've had many instances where people seem to magically know where I am and beeline to me when on my screen I'm completely hidden. Hopefully the foliage rework looks into this problem.
One more unreliable thing about foliage is render distance. As a hatze I've killed many players thinking they're safe in a bush not realizing that all I see is a giant lizard laying in the middle of a field.
Yeah render distance just pops out bushes entirely and can definitely reveal dinos. At least that's consistent though and not like foliage being in different places for different players lol
I saw a picture on the PoT subreddit where someone (on pc) and their friend (on mobile) compared shadows. The pc player had an adult rex fully hidden in the shadows under trees sleeping but for their mobile friend they just saw a fat rex sleeping in bright open with no shadows.
That checks out. Mobile has very little shading/shadows. It can be pretty hard to hide in this game!
I’ve accidentally smashed countless juvies and small tiers to death by running through bushes they were hiding in

Yes, King! I have suspected this for SO long! It is extremely helpful to see it lined up like this. I really thought the settings were "quality settings". I never looked into it because i dont like potato graphics. But...guess who is turning those settings aaaaall they way down? Lol. Thank you for this.

Well that's lame, makes trying to hide redundant. No wonder some players have just walked straight up to me whilst I've been trying to rest in foliage... I also noticed when I played on the switch that I could see the silhouette of submerged players, making any chance of someone ambushing from the water highly unlikely. You do not see these silhouettes on Pc however. 🙄
Yeah it's sad it takes away a big piece of the game. That's crazy about the silhouettes for switch, thanks for letting me know!

Happy you watched! It might be a compounded issue depending on if they built it like this from the ground up, but all they would need to do is to just make the amount of bushes spawned on the low foliage setting permanent and in the same place for everyone. The foliage setting should change the quality of the bushes, not the amount lol
@@Khanware ahh yea that makes sense. I hope they look into it sooner than later, I mean this is a survival game and being reliant on bushes shouldn’t be something we can’t do.

Hopefully when the new foliage comes out it fixes all the issues
I doubt it will fix the current issues, the new foliage they are adding looks really cool but it will probably function the same as the current foliage does
Yikes, so weird that settings dont line up... You think they will change this ever or should I just go to low settings?
I feel like it’s unlikely but who knows. Low settings for pvp, high settings for screenshots I guess haha
I've noticed recently as well for me (on PC) that people hide in bushes or places they think are hidden, but the game stops populating ground cover at a certain distance. So while they think they are sitting comfy in a bush, I can see them from the other side of the POI and it looks as if they are sitting out in the open, until I get closer.
Yep, render distance is also an issue, although not quite as bad as bushes being in different locations lol. It’s hard with mobile, but there should be a globalized render distance across all platforms where bushes and players pop out at the same distance to avoid the render issue
i useally use glitched walls and rocks to hide with a matching skin to boot- like that one in corpse cove where almost 3 full rexes could hide and bite people without getting hurt((before it was patched)) i find it much more relible since most players wouldnt be crazy enough to look into rocks or semi phaseable trees for mid to small tiers
As a Switch player there's also the shorter draw distance for terrain details like bushes but players render in from far away. Once I spotted a kentro waiting to ambush me. He was hiding in bushes that didn't render in until I got closer so I was ready for him.
This can happen on all platforms unfortunately, part of how they did the render distance system :/

So I’ve just been getting incredibly lucky or spared this whole time then? Ouch, that’s quite the blow to my ego.
Big enough bush clusters *could* align better on most players screens. But I guess that still counts as getting lucky lol
Welp so this explains how some people seem to see me- be it if they come after me or they see me coming for them and run away before I even have a chance to ambush. Only times I feel like I have survived was because my skins on solo outings are camo and blend in with the color of the foliage.
I feel like camouflage is underrated in PoT. Obviously it’s more risky, but I’ve had times where I’ve just crouched on a surface that matches my skin and someone has gone right by me

That's quite disrupting to gameplay, this means hiding in bushes is unknowingly unreliable which kills the sense of ambushing for a lot of players or hiding. Needs to be fixed, consistency is an important factor across platforms if you make all platforms accessible to one another.
100%, hopefully it makes it onto their top priorities list
I wish the devs can make something about this, like make a fair graphic for all Platforms, that we all be able for hiding in the bushes.
I have one question which graphic is the best for mobile, because I only play on mobile and play its standard graphic?
Absolutely, there should be a standardized minimum setting so that it’s fair for everyone.
I don’t play mobile really, but if you’re looking for a sight advantage, I would say lowest settings are probably best because you’ll have the lowest amount of bushes, shadows, etc

by putting the visual foliage settings to low, is it true that those few bushes that appear with the low graphics settings are the few and same bushes guaranteed to spawn at any setting? or changing the foliage settings changes the placement of ALL bushes?
That would be very logical, but unfortunately no, it doesn’t appear to be that way. Bushes that were present on low seem to not be present on high, etc, and vise versa. Pc players “low” also doesn’t match up with console or mobile foliage either :/

I wish but I doubt it. The new foliage looks great, but if it uses the same system as the old stuff, it will probably have the same issue :/

For some lower end mobile devices they can go low graphics and turn the render distance all they way down bushes will disappear completely i have a friend that could do that ive tried it myself didnt work so i guess mine not lower enough to do it

Is anyone familiar how bushes, cover and spotting work in World Of Tanks? Something like that might work well for Path. Ive long been aware that bushes are not safe at a distance as they de-spawn before your dino does. But this is so much worse!!! Hiding from prey is the only strategy some dinos have :(
Yeah render distance popping out bushes and revealing players definitely happens, but this is definitely on a whole other level haha
It differs by console generation/power as well. My friend on series S doesn't have bushes I have on PS5 ,though same generation, series S is a less powerful machine.
Interesting, thanks for the comment! Does ps5 have any changeable graphics settings? I was told that xbox doesn't. I know mobile has an overall graphics setting they can change, and pc obviously has all of them.
@@Khanware locked graphical settings on consoles, I checked my PS5, most likely same scenario on other consoles, likely performance and stability related.

Dont forget that as flyers if you fly up enough the bushes turn into pngs and reveal any dinos trying to rest in them
Yeah that’s render distance, also normal though. They should make foliage pop out at the same distance other players pop out to fix that one. Bushes being in different places for dinos in close proximity is on a whole other level lol
Ok so bushes can’t be trusted, but you can trust boulders/rocks, how how submerged into water?
Yeah boulders should be safe because they should be 100% static and shouldn’t change with any settings.
Water is a tricky one. Depends on how clear it is. There is also currently a bug for some water areas where if you align your view with the angle of the surface while swimming, the water filter disappears and you can see everything bright as day
You also cannot trust shaded areas or shadows. It's very similar to the bushes where lower settings or mobile players will have no shadows whereas players on PC or higher graphical settings will have shadows and a more beautiful view.

Can you remove bushes with the settings?
You don't seem to be able to (on pc at least). On the lowest foliage setting there are still some bushes present, but there aren't nearly as many as on high+

This is bs because I’m a stealth only realism type of player! I’m not really social and I play a role as either predator or prey when I’m on. If I knew people would just turn on a setting and basically have X-ray vision I wouldn’t even attempt to play the game! There’s no reason to try to be stealthy if someone is able to see you no matter what anyway…
I hope they fix this soon, it's a big issue! I know it sucks a lot, but there are still ways you can hide! Like I mentioned, trees and rocks are more reliable. Large clumps of bushes often have enough coverage towards the center to provide some coverage sometimes

I mean this is nothing new even the Isle has had this happening for years before PoT came out. Never trust bushes, rendering and graphic settings will be your undoing!
Rendering perhaps, but there should be systems and place so that bushes pop in and out at the same distance players do. Also, graphics settings should absolutely not influence the number of bushes rendered for PvP games, it should only change the quality of them!
@@Khanware Depends on the program; if the bush is a static object like the aforementioned rocks and trees it won't matter. However if bushes and grass are tied to graphical detail, which more games do that than you think, then graphic settings will affect how and where they spawn.

So basically pc players have an unfair advantage because of foliage settings.
No, every platform has different bushes, that’s what I explained in the video. If anything, mobile should have the advantage because their defaults show much less foliage. Pc should actually have a disadvantage because of how it works. Pc settings can be changed, so pc players could have different bushes from other pc players. That’s not the case for console and mobile. Their bushes should be the same within their platforms. So pc can’t trust anything and can only hide from other pc players with the EXACT same bush settings, while console can hide from other console players, and mobile from mobile.
@@Khanware console players don't have a choice in which bushes spawn in though. I understood every platform has different bushes.
@@gamingvideos3560 I understand that… neither does mobile. Pc doesn’t have an advantage cause they can “choose” which bushes spawn. They’ll see more foliage and foliage in different places if they turn up the settings, which puts them at a disadvantage. It might look nicer, but it’s much worse if you’re for a more level playing field if that makes sense

It's not cheating or even exploiting... It's how they built the game from the ground up - just the way that it is. Also, no matter what setting you use, you will still have different bushes than console or mobile players. There's nothing we can do about that unfortunately.
