    He just calmly treats every bad position like another opportunity to attack and win.

    Man Kadi is ridiculous. Really in hindsight him besting Dake is not much of an upset. Dake is a beast but Kadi looks better. Similar insane defense but technically cleaner possibly stronger then Dake. Wild the levels of the game

      @connerdaffin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah this guy is ridiculous. I think Dake could’ve had a chance if he wouldn’t have tried to muscle him in some positions that ended up giving up big points. But it’s like this guys offense starts when his opponent shoots. Wild.

      kadi has huge weaknesses though. he got destroyed by the russian guy in the final and has been beaten a lot. dake won the world championship right after.

      Destroyed is not quite accurate imo. I did a breakdown on Twitter about his match with Sidakov which was quite competitive until pretty late in the 2nd period - twitter.com/DPSBreakdowns/status/1427838492286017538

    Could you do a breakdown on this kinda stuff for us BJJ guys?
    In my early days, I'd take bad shots knowing opponents would lock around the body, and I had my sit-out counter ready for easy victory. Nogueira used to get away with the same crap in Pride so it's pretty common among BJJ guys.
    Obviously that strategy would be an absolute disaster at this level of Wrestling. Lately we see Gordon using this sprawl position a lot and BJJ nerds have been calling it "High-Ground" for the past few years.

    • @hellotcautiver

    Is his high crotch defense (chest lock) practical in folk style?

    • @DPSBreakdowns
      @DPSBreakdowns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It can be a useful defensive option in certain situations - example here: twitter.com/DPSBreakdowns/status/1504866108461010947 - but it does lose some utility since it's a lot of energy, doesn't score any points (like it does in freestyle) and usually just creates a scramble.
