I always picture the input shaft connecting the cluches and flywheel.
Its helpful when you are familiar with how transmissions operation.
And I will admit i get things backwards sometimes while trying to explain it. And my most important thing to point out is that bearings as a whole can do unpredictable things you wouldn't expect as well.
They are not made equally, and they sure as hell dont play fair ever.
These are the some conditions of each. But not always.
    Not all transmissions are alike.
When replacing bearings save yourself the headache and NEVER buy remanufactured ones.
I do not go cheap with them. So find a brand you like that are of high quality. You do not want to have to do this twice.
I prefer and recommend Japanese manufacturers when involving bearings.
Timken have been around and known for they're quality for some time.
I also highly suggest getting a master kit and replacing everything at once.
Its not that hard at all and is very good intermediate level learning.
Throwout bearings can make a whirling noise as your releasing or in initial engagement of your clutch and can effect gearshifts.
    But so cant worn clutches.
Input and output shaft bearings whirl while fully engaged and on load.
If you have noise while engaged and on load but only while driving in a couple higher gears and reverse thats typically the countershaft bearing.
That is because those forward gears are designed to connect to the countershaft. Which is a separate shaft with extra gears and ratio.
That happened to me in my OBS Sierra.
I didn't want to have to ever get in there again so I purchased a brand new performance built one
It was the truck of my dreams.
I lost it in my divorce, its the only material item iv ever owned besides heirlooms that Iv became attached to.
Life is a lot easier for those of us who follow jesus and blessed knowing how selfish, sometimes shallow, and distracting material items can become. God bless everyone in jesus name, amen 🙏🏻

Sometimes this can cause paranoia especially if you’ve once had a car with Gearbox bearing noises any cars after that you could be listening out for bearing noises and start finding problems with it. Just always make sure you have gearbox oil aswell because that can cause bad noises

Gearbox ptsd is real. It’s inevitable too you might pretend it’ll never happen and then the whining starts. Every problem I have I think my gearbox has gone so many times. I once gave up on a car for weeks thinking gearbox went and it was the linkage rods for 2nd and 4th was fixed in seconds
