This was a pleasant rendition of an age old story :) And it helped me understand the concept of transmedia storytelling better. Thanks! :)

What it made me think of is how easy it is to manipulate social media. For example, I could say the Cinderella girl was Cardi B and support it by saying that was the reason the instructor offered both videos was that they were both related. I know our class would not believe it to be true, but if just a few people picked up on it and relayed the story across different mediums it can take on a life of its own and people start adding details like the shoe tossed was an Air Force One. The more something is sent the more believable it becomes, and I would guess we have all heard crazier stories purported as true stories. The voiceover was too fast. I we go back to our earlier chapter, this was one example of how possibly changing the classics to be more current might possibly work to make them more relatable to our youth. For the record, I would be against that, although maybe having the modern and classic versions as assignments might be an option. Shoot, I think I am going to drop out of this class and revolutionize the education system! And you all will be writing APA papers about me.

Whilst there are definite advantages to linking 'stories' through various mediums, the whole 'transmedia' concept really is overgging the pudding. Marketers have long fooled themselves into believing they have far more reach than they really do, this is another example of that. For true 'transmedia' to be successful one must presume the audience has and regularly accesses all the mediums mentioned. If one only has a couple each reaction would be different. Like the video on Facebook - end of the story. See the GIF a few times, laugh then move on Etc. Point is, unless you are that logged on, which most aren't, the 'story' will make no sense, be scrolled past and quickly forgotten by most. Whilst there are obviously clear benefactors of the story I.e, the original up-loader to TH-cam, the singer, the record label and possibly the most benefited is the girl herself, but the question really becomes - with so much digital overload, does anyone really care enough to follow the story? The short answer is no, no they don't.

That‘s why this storytelling only works if the original first viral video is engaging and interesting enough for people to want to dig deeper and this can be more easily achived if you are not just a soulless marketing company promoting products to make money but rather an artist with an actual cool story to tell. Carious internet ARG‘s have already done this and that‘s really what this should be all about. In the big pool if infested advertisement waters we still need entertaining art rhat isn‘t completely soulless.

Thank you for the very slick video. I just don't see where the transmedia story telling is? This is a classic cross platform social media marketing strategy.

Great example, but I feel like I'll need to go back an play it i slow motion to understand what the h we're talking about, here. Basically, every TS effort is like an 'expanded universe' of its own, except not all the stories are movies. You spread it over different channels of communication, right?
