Honestly I think they were trying to pump the crowd up and rejuvenate our O, and they were also chancing that Bama was gonna go full run D (which they probably should have but they didn't and it worked). I didn't actually mind it that bad.

If they could have gotten to him quicker, it would have basically been like a Punt deep into Bama territory. In the past, Joe Burrow has said that he doesn’t mind throwing a pick on 3rd down in certain situations because he knows the next call is to roll out the punt unit
@@mgway4661 100%, I almost put this in my last comment. I hope our offense works on how to defend in the event of turnover, because they definitely took a while to get him down. If they tackle him within ~5 yards of his catch, it ends up effectively being a punt like you said.
