To answer and clarify. Yes Ayers Hall was the inspiration that caused us to begin making the endzones checkered. General Neyland used to tell players to charge the checkerboards in reference to the building since we didnt have them in the endzones yet. When Doug Dickey became HC in 1964, he made them the designs for the endzones so players could actually charge the checkerboard and it’s been history ever since and is by far the best endzone design in Football. Period.

I'm at all the home games as an Usher and I wear earplugs............ yeah... it's that loud. For the Bama game the fans rushed the field and of course the goal posts came down.... BUT they couldn't get them out of the stadium. It took a while to clear the field but the results were GREAT ......... just sayin' .................. enjoy
