      You are right! We never really visited National Parks before we started van life and had no idea what to expect. The parks have exceeded any expectations we have had for them! Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!

      Our pleasure! No trip to a National Park is complete without the GyPSy Guide :)

    Another wonderful video…. Great scenery and wildlife (and Mike not afraid of a giant mouse looking thing 😆).
    Nice to see some van life footage in the campsite.

      I was honestly so shocked when Mike said he was excited to see the Pika! But I bet it would have been a different story if they were closer haha Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!

    Great video !!
    I really liked the more van usage oriented scenes.
    Colorado scenery is also hard to beat.

    I saw a Pika at Grand Teton on the Cascade canyon trail. They was hard to photograph, because they was fast. They hid in the rocks.

      That is awesome! The pika are still some of our favorite wildlife sightings we have had in the National Parks! (they are even more rare than bears 😊)

    Love watching your videos. Such a beautiful young couple. Kind of modeling build to yours. My neighbor doing most so do a little at time since he works and I am retired. Do you recommend the hood bra (do you have issue with water getting under?). Also I never see you use awning (is that because you do mostly hit and runs? Will you do more long stays once you complete all states?). Hope you have a Happy New Year.

      Thank you for the kind words, we really do appreciate it and you! Yes, you are right! Our goal for 2023 (after we finish all 50 states) is to travel slower and experience more van life rather than road trip :) We definitely have not used our awning as much as we thought we would...
      We put on the hood bra because we were going to travel the Alaska Highway and read that the front of vehicles often get damaged by rocks that are kicked up by big trucks. The bra helped our hood but our windshield wasn't so lucky haha We purchased the bra off of eBay and it doesn't quite fit the right way so water does get under it. Maybe you will have better luck with a different brand?
      HAPPY NEW YEAR & BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR VAN BUILD!

    Boondocking is a new word for this Brit. Had to do a bit of research on that. Your van did well at 12000 feet above sea level. Air is thin and must have reduced engine power. Highest I've been was on holiday with parents touring in a VW up to Andorra in early 80's. That was 8000 feet. Highest mountain in UK is Ben Nevis at 4411 feet.

      We had no idea what boondocking meant too until we started researching how to find free camping spots, it is a unique word for sure! 8,000 feet in a VW is pretty impressive as well! Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

    Perhaps Mike's personal security Squirrels could protect him from charging mice. btw a mile is 5,280'. I crossed W-E and had cold, windy, cloudy weather and saw absolutely nothing, lol. When I got E of Estes Park I heard gunfire, but it was hunting season. You scored on wildlife, as usual and had pretty good weather Yea! Best for last - Hmmm. Safe Travels!

      You are right! We will blame the mistake on the lack of oxygen to our brains from the elevation haha We were worried about the visibility, especially because it was stormy the day before but we lucked out for sure! That just means you will have to go back and give it another try :)
      Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

    How don't you have Indiana? Didn't you drive through it going to RTE 66?

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! U.S. Route 66 doesn't go through Indiana, it starts just East of it in Illinois. But, don't worry! We just recently visited Indiana in November, so it has been officially crossed off :) Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

    • @CappuccinoDrives
      @CappuccinoDrives ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeandheather I meant, you live in NY, you must have crossed Indiana to reach Illinois, unless you went out of your way around the lakes through Canada 🤣

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CappuccinoDrives Ahhh, that makes sense haha technically then, yes we did drive through Indiana! But we aren't counting states unless we visit them, driving through doesn't count :)

    can you use a check to pay for the campsite?

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  ปีที่แล้ว

      We are not sure! We paid in cash but we don't remember seeing anything that said you could not pay with a check...

    I love following you and get excited when you drop a new video. I hope you are being sponsored by the GyPSy Guide App, and if you are not, you should since you do promote it quite well. Good luck in 2023. You have to love each other so much to travel so well for so long and still be cheerful and excited about what you do. Love you guys, stay safe. ❤️

      You are too kind! We love having you along the journey with us :)
      No, we are actually not sponsored by GyPSy guide, we stumbled upon it when we were in the Florida Keys and loved it so much it kinda just became our go-to thing to do in a National Park haha We will have to look into partnering with them, thank you for the advice! We really do appreciate it and you watching! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
