When I used to work at McDonalds, a lot of adults would buy kids meals. We didn't deny anyone. I think it's the dumbest business decision to prevent people from having that choice.
I don’t get that system. If you’re not too hungry, you want a smaller portion and the kid’s meals are smaller portions, so you should just order that portion. That’s ageism.
Yeah, seems a bit ridiculous.. I could understand it when places have highly subsidised kids meals, i.e. when they are like < £2.99 and not profitable for the company, with the condition that you only get the discount with purchase of an adults meal, but £4.99 for that is a joke :P (obviously a sketch but based on real life). -- It would make more sense to offer something that was profitable to some extent, as obviously you could just go into a cafe and have a coffee, you would still be welcome but taking up a table, even if you didn't order food. They just wouldn't be making as much money. I quite like it when places have small plates/portion options for that reason. The other thing people sometimes do is share a portion, e.g. sharing a panini between two. I've seen loads of adults do this. I actually got quite annoyed at my Dad for ordering a panini to share, when they were only £2.99 :P
