Thank you for this video. The key for long-term service in church is boundaries. It's sad when a great volunteer does too much then burnout... I'm glad to hear this type of thinking from other people with the experience of serving in church for so long.
Yeah I’m sitting out right now. I said yes to everything. I was a minister within 9 months of joining a new ministry. I lead the praise team, prayer ministry, women’s ministry, mentorship with multiple women ( who were extremely needed) Travelled to services. I am exhausted! so just up and quit
Yes, overcommitment is a solid way to burnout. Take a breather and get with the Lord to find out which of those things you should actually be doing (or maybe even something new). Just don't sit out too long. That can cause worse problems than burnout.
I like the call 911 answer. I put my phone on airplane mode when l go to bed. My wife once said to me “ what if there is an emergency, someone needs you? “ l said 911 would be their best bet if it was a real emergency. 911 carries emergency oxygen and other life saving gear. They have access to several ambulances equipped with vital life saving equipment 24/7. They will get there much much quicker than myself all things considered. My phone is for my own emergencies during the night ! 😁
I like the call 911 answer. I always put my phone on airplane mode when l go to bed. My wife said to me once “what if there is an emergency, someone needs you ? I said 911 is probably their best option if it’s really an emergency. 911 carries emergency oxygen and other life saving stuff. They have access to several ambulances equipped with such gear on standby 24/7. They will get their much much quicker than me all things considered !! My phone is for my own emergencies during the night. !
Awesome video ! ... I had to Laugh when Chad was saying they wanted him to do bass and, mix... Once ! I actually did just that.. I sat there at the mixing board while playing bass... The Church we served would never accept a " NO " answer ! They would come to our home... and, Demand we do what they needed us to do... We served that church for 7 years.. Burnout? We did all Wednesday evening services; Sunday Services and, Special services.. Like weddings; Holiday Banquets etc... Burn Out ! We left the church... Did another church.. I was first asked to do sound engineering... Then they discovered I was a musician.. Was assigned to play Bass on one of the P&W teams.. Then I was called to fill in for other sound engineers on their assigned weeks... Then They wanted me to take Production Manager position... After 1 year at that church... I had to Leave ! So, I fully understand the demands that can take you down... Burn Out !! It took my wife and I many years to learn to say " NO " I can't take on more than we are doing.. and, Yes ! Everyone learned our limits to Volunteering. We have also seen senior pastors quit over Burn Out ! It affects anyone and everyone... Loved this Video .. Thank You !
For me burnout was a sudden and overwhelming sense of tiredness from something you enjoy so much you forget to take a break. You notice it most when you stop for a moment and it catches up with you.

Thank You :) 🍒😃
Welcome!
Good info. Do you have any videos more for the video side of church service? Streaming and producing video content? Thanks!
Thanks, Jeremy! Creating training videos for video content is on our list, but we haven't made it there just yet.
I’m in only a year as a sound engineer at my church. What’s Burnout??
Keep healthy boundaries and you'll never experience it. :)
