  • Orange Crush Mini Amp | Review | Demo | Amplifier
British amplifier legends, Orange unveiled some exciting additions to their range at this year's NAMM. The new compact amp line includes the Brent Hinds signature Terror head, the Rocker 15 Terror head and Crush Mini amps. Nick Jennison got grips with the later of the two new releases in this issue.
    Orange Crush Mini Amp
So while the Rocker 15 Terror is an eminently portable amp, and perfectly usable for quite practice sessions, you’re unlikely to drag it up to your hotel room and rig up a cab to work on your chops. Don’t worry though; Orange has got you covered with the Crush Mini.

I got one to play on my deck. I really like it. I find myself practicing with it a lot. It’s quiet enough to not have my neighbors hate me, it loves pedals and is versatile enough to get a ton of sounds out of. I really like it.

I can’t understand how people get pedals to work with orange amps. I have tried fuzz and wah pedals and neither sound great on this or my crush 20rt. They sound much better on a yamaha thr 30.

Beginner electric guitarist here- I think I'm going to get myself this amp as my first! It's affordable enough, I like how it looks, and your review has informed me of its quality. It's a nice comprehensive review/demo that showcases all its features and how it sounds. If I hadn't found this video and discovered that this little amp on my list had a tuner and a headphone output thing, I wouldn't be deciding on this one. Thanks!

Sounds good, especially for what is---3 watts solid state. I have a Fender mini Tone Master that has a decent clean and a good distorted tone. Not buying one with the delusion of replacing my tube amps--- I have a Carvin X60, Pignose G40 and a few more tube amps. These amps are handy to play late at night, not wanting to disturb others around, writing songs, etc.

Not bad. Yeah, you can only expect so much out of such a small speaker. That head gets the most out of it though. Glad you covered the gain . Most just cover the clean, being that it's lots easier to impress with that no matter what size the speaker is.

I once had a really similar amp by what I think was a no-name brand - it looked pretty much just like this one except that it was red 😂 it also sounded VERY similar. I didn’t use it an awful lot but I did like it. After a year or so, I didn’t use it for like another year BUT it was always safely stored in the original box and then it just didn’t work anymore for no apparent reason.
Does the orange mini amp have good longevity ? Will I be able to use it for, say, 5 years or longer ? (I obviously don’t refer to the battery life 😂)

Wow, it's really loud for such a small -- oh, wait, you've got a microphone pressed right up to it, so nobody can tell if it's actually weak af.

Orange makes great amps (though not for everyone, as they are unique). But, I gotta say that I tried this little guy and it is crap. There are really two practical modes 1) REALLY poor clean tone 2) buzzy gain tone. Maybe that's why he does not dwell on the clean one. The draw here is that it is really tiny - and orange. IMO, for the portability/money, the Boss Katana Mini or the Blackstar Fly have much better sounds and range of tones/effects. But, truthfully, I've not found any of these battery powered micro amps to be keepers. So, I spent just a little more money (and a size) on a used Yamaha THR5 - and it gave me a huge jump in quality and versatility.

I wouldn't recommend this thing, I find no joy in playing with it because it just sounds like a toy

From someone who owns one yes I can recommend it as with a Marshall cab you can't really put it in a bag and take it somewhere with you but I would save up another £40 and get a crush 12 amp because they are very nice and I have one in the corner of my room that I use everyday

Teecee because that’s why questions are asked with hopes of a respective answer instead of a response from a know it all! You played the part well but I’m confident that you don’t really know it all and you don’t know one person who does. Thx, Mgnt

No clean tone just words. Pentatonic licks start at 3:10 until 4:10 and that's it.
