Columbo was my dad’s favorite show and we used to watch it together a ton. He passed in early 2019, and every time I watch one of your deep dives I can’t help but think about how much he would have loved your stuff. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into these-it really, really shows!
Pointing out Culp’s jacket adjustment crutch during scenes blew me away, I love minutiae like that and never noticed the habit! Also loved the “individual person” slice from Dead Weight, totally smooth work and hilariously unexpected! Thank you for another brilliant analysis!
It's a thing. He also did it quite often in Greatest American Hero. Along with the occasional pause between words or drawing out a syllable. All the little things that made Culp so great.
My favourite EVER Columbo - and I saw it on first run in UK in the 70's. I love your channel and the hard work you put into every video. Thanks for being such a great part of TH-cam !! x

I worked with Robert Culp in the early 2000s. He narrated an episode of the series A&E Biography that I produced. It was an honor to work with him; but he wasn’t easy talent. He arrived with his voice-over script so annotated that you could barely see words on the page. Several hours later, after many stops and starts, our theoretically-one-hour job was done. We had to paste the narration together almost phrase by phrase. The multiple takes set a record in my experience, but no doubt his intentions were good.
I love Robert Culp's appearances on this series and his final one here is fantastic. Thank you for the discussion of the deleted scenes. The plot makes so much more sense now-another great installment!

Another wonderful deep dive! I really enjoy these. I remember watching this episode with my parents when I was 14. So many great shows came and went back in the 70's. Thanks for making these videos!
Hello, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago when it popped up on my recommended feed, and Ive been hooked watching your past Columbo episodes daily, a show Ive been a fan of for years. Im from the UK originally and the show was popular there, now I emigrated to the USA. Anyway, this episode is one of my favourites and Im looking forward to watching it, thanks!
You do an absolutely fantastic job on your videos. I rarely listen to videos longer than 18-20 minutes. I have no problem listening to yours. And, I have loved Columbo since the early 1970s, watching with my dad when I was a child.
This is one of my favorite episodes, despite the issues that come up with all the cut scenes. I never knew that they cut so much, but looking back on it, it makes a lot of sense (by the way, your drawings are great). Robert Culp is a fantastic killer as he is in every episode he's in, this one being his best performance in my opinion. The moment at the end of the golf course scene where Columbo says he thought he would spoil his game and Kepple response with "Not a chance, Lieutenant" is one of my favorite back and forth scenes between a killer and Columbo in the show. I also love the gotcha with the subliminal cuts being used against Kepple, and the single tear is a really great touch. Great video, as always! I'm excited for your video on Publish or Perish!
Robert Culp has been one of my favorite actors since I SPY. His villains are intelligent, complex and cool. Not to mention his good looks and sex appeal. Thanks for an exceptional review.
@@melissastruxness512 I saw all that show's episodes in first run. Not just another old show. Culp made it into a fine spy show. Cosby gave it the mark of a serial sexual predator's shame.
You are the best. This show brings a smile (or more) to my face every time. I’ve probably rewatched the entire series of Columbo 3 times by now, and it is a pleasure to be seeing it again through your entertaining lens. Thank you for your superb efforts.
First off, your drawings are adorable. You are still able to get the gist of the story your portraying though your artwork. Nicely done. Second, I like how Columbo seemed genuinely surprised by the caliber conversion device. Rare to see him surprised like this. Third, an alternative title I could come up with is "Thirsting for Murder." Lastly, it was a popsicle, wasn't it? During your video, I wanted a Bomb Pop... so I'm guessing you put a subliminal message of a popsicle in your video. Anyway, great work as always, take care.
I have watched all your Columbo reviews and I can't tell you how much I admire your fantastic work! Please keep doing the mini bios on featured players and extras, updates on locations, deleted scenes and everything else and don't let certain commentators upset you with their pettiness as they certainly couldn't do what you do. I can't wait for the next instalment! 😊❤😊
Great episode as always. Please continue to share the previous episodes the extras were in. It is not boring and you move through them quickly enough. It completes the story and gives a very appropriate nod to the actors and actresses that appeared.
Don’t change a thing on how you do your videos. That’s why I watched every video in a week. I enjoy the information and the comedy you put in them. Keep it up.
Enjoying this installment immensely. What a gift! Yay for your fun, beluga-enhanced illustrations & overall superb, witty coverage of a classic episode. Thanks so much, as always! Greetings from Greenwich Village. ✌🏼❤️
I'm five minutes in when you ask about listings. I love every teensy bit of trivia you put in to your episodes. It's one of the main reasons I love your channel. For me, the more bits of side info ,the better. In other words, "It's all the little things . . . " 🙂

Hi Shonna! As planned, my IN and CA friends and I held a watch party with this review. We actually managed to wait until all 3 of us were available before watching it! This is one of our favorite episodes, for sure. There is a lot of gold in this review. The deleted scenes explain so many things that we had..sort of noticed..but never verbalized. The credited but unseen Arlene Martell is one big mystery solved. And in the case of things that still don't make sense (like the missing nickel at the Magnolia) it's just nice to have someone point them out. And the "Jimmy" thing! Excellent. Never noticed. Do you know who the bikini model is? It seems to have been meant to be the Tanya Baker character, but it is not Martell. Why not? Geez, it gets rolling around in our heads like a marble and we can't make heads or tails of it. We find it significant that Chuck McCann starred in a film called "The Projectionist" in 1970. His character's name was "Chuck". The line "When you've been in this racket as long as I have, you don't pay much attention to movies" could have been meant as a funny reference to McCann's history of playing a projectionist. Thanks for this review, Shonna! We really enjoyed it!
@@artdequasie3677 I feel so special that you and your friends watched it together! That's really cool 😊 I agree the bathing suit lady should have been Tanya. It would have been a nice connection. Another spectacular video. I am constantly checking for new videos. I highly enjoy your videos and all of the hard work that you put into them. It shows in the quality of the videos. Thank you so much for doing that and taking the time to put together, such entertaining videos. Thank you. I will be waiting for the next one on the edge of my seat. I know it will be as good and the high standards of all the previous videos that have gone before. Thank you again God bless.
Yours is the only TH-cam Channel that I wait for with great anticipation. I am not sure whether it is the quality of the show or the fact that I watched it with my dad when I was a boy that makes me love it so much (it is probably a combo of the two). But the care you put into videos about a show that means a lot to me, well, means a lot to me.
I have one line to add to your list of favorites: “I think you’re guilty of homicide.” MeTV used it to great effect when mashing up promos for Columbo and some other show. I also wish there were “director’s cut” editions of these Columbo episodes in existence, so we could see the deleted scenes. And TH-cam needs to get better with notifications so I’m not seeing your episodes on a delayed basis. Great work as always!
Thank you for another wonderful episode. Wonderful drawings to accompany the missing scenes. A great scene in the elevator where Culp is getting anxious from Columbo’s questioning, and looks directly at the camera for a split second, in an almost desperate attempt for help.❤ ❤ ❤
I've allways loved this episode too, but now through your clear and concise drawings and explanation the plot makes so much more sense. I never realized much this episode was butchered in editing.
This episode was a masterpiece, I always enjoyed Robert Culp and Peter Falk’s acting chemistry. Beautiful break down as always, thank you for your amazing work.
I was born in the late 60's and Columbo is a window into how I remember the world, though much closer to where you live than California. The "look over there" guy and the easy find of the gun in the drawer always puzzled me and my mom. Shortened run time explains it. Wish we could see the whole film! Btw, I like your storyboard drawing, especially with the Caviar book!!

Another banger! Great job as usual. And, I have never noticed any mistakes from you! If you edited Hollywood films, you'd win Oscars.
You are too sweet, thank you very much ❤️
We were SOOO happy that you're back and released a new video. The whole family gathered around the tv to watch. We LOVE LOVE your work - so detailed and amazing research. I love Lalley - never stop showing us all the people that seemed innocuous but are really mainstays. Love your addition of favorite scenes at the end. "Check it out..."
Aww, your comment made my day!! Thank you very much ❤️
You just made my day!!!
Another wonderful deep dive! I really enjoy these. I remember watching this episode with my parents when I was 14. So many great shows came and went back in the 70's. Thanks for making these videos!
I'm happy you're enjoying them. Thanks for sharing that memory with me, too :)
Thank you very much ❤️ I'm so glad you're here!
A great review. As always, that’s for the care and attention you bring to these reviews.
Just when I think I couldn’t enjoy the journey you take us through this episode any more, you add some drawings. They’re great!
Haha, thank you very much 😁
You do an absolutely fantastic job on your videos. I rarely listen to videos longer than 18-20 minutes. I have no problem listening to yours. And, I have loved Columbo since the early 1970s, watching with my dad when I was a child.
@@elainer6499 I'm glad you like the videos, thank you ❤️
This is one of my favorite episodes, despite the issues that come up with all the cut scenes.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on the episode!
As usual another gem! Great job filling in the missing Mrs. Norris scenes in particular. Round 3: Culp 0 Columbo 3.
I love Culp’s laugh after the comment on his golf swing. It sounds genuine, I’m glad they kept it in the episode.
I agree
Love your reviews, shows so many things I never noticed. I like when you show what shows the extras have been on. ☺
@@ralphperez1524 thank you for much!!
Robert Culp has been one of my favorite actors since I SPY. His villains are intelligent, complex and cool. Not to mention his good looks and sex appeal. Thanks for an exceptional review.
I totally agree
@@WatchitforDays
I also agree with both of you two!
*agree.
Never watched that TV show. Been looking for it to stream no kick so far. I love those old tv shows
@@melissastruxness512
I saw all that show's episodes in first run. Not just another old show. Culp made it into a fine spy show. Cosby gave it the mark of a serial sexual predator's shame.
Kelly Robinson was a delight.
You are the best. This show brings a smile (or more) to my face every time. I’ve probably rewatched the entire series of Columbo 3 times by now, and it is a pleasure to be seeing it again through your entertaining lens. Thank you for your superb efforts.
I appreciate that very much😊
First off, your drawings are adorable. You are still able to get the gist of the story your portraying though your artwork. Nicely done.
Second, I like how Columbo seemed genuinely surprised by the caliber conversion device. Rare to see him surprised like this.
Third, an alternative title I could come up with is "Thirsting for Murder."
Lastly, it was a popsicle, wasn't it? During your video, I wanted a Bomb Pop... so I'm guessing you put a subliminal message of a popsicle in your video.
Anyway, great work as always, take care.
I'm glad you liked my drawings 😁
Yes, it was neat to see him surprised!
I like that title a lot
A popsicle, eh? Interesting....
You are a wonderful encouragement! Thank you very much!
What a huge treat for the weekend, thank you thank you!
This is your best one yet. Just absolutely perfect- my favourite TH-camr by far xx
That really means a lot to me 😊
Me and my wife (Misses Phantom) want you to keep giving complete resumes of the background actors. It’s our favorite part.
Well I certainly will continue, Phantom family ❤️
Great episode as always. Please continue to share the previous episodes the extras were in. It is not boring and you move through them quickly enough. It completes the story and gives a very appropriate nod to the actors and actresses that appeared.
@@johnchavez9252 Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on the subject!
Don’t change a thing on how you do your videos. That’s why I watched every video in a week. I enjoy the information and the comedy you put in them. Keep it up.
Amazingly presented; no critics allowed here!
Enjoying this installment immensely. What a gift! Yay for your fun, beluga-enhanced illustrations & overall superb, witty coverage of a classic episode. Thanks so much, as always! Greetings from Greenwich Village. ✌🏼❤️
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave me such a kind comment! I wondered if you could tell me how Greenwich is pronounced?
A superb question, given what you experience with the well-intentioned scolders! :-) It's a short "e" & a silent "w" - phonetically, "Grennich." ;-)
@@ellenfagan4338 Thank you! :)
My pleasure!
Possibly my favorite all time episode. Culp is my favorite Columbo villain though.
I'm five minutes in when you ask about listings. I love every teensy bit of trivia you put in to your episodes. It's one of the main reasons I love your channel. For me, the more bits of side info ,the better. In other words, "It's all the little things . . . " 🙂
Aww, thank you very much!
Awesome!! Been so looking forward to your next review, waiting for a new one of these is like when we were kids waiting for Christmas! Ha!
Thanks for all you put into these!!
Thank you very much ❤️🎄
I love these post! Got so 3xcited to see a new one, thank you, thank you
Love the little drawings!
Thank you very much!
I think Peter Falk would've approved too since he seems a little taller and has even better hair.
Another great video. I am always amazed at the amount of research you do. And even though you don an amused and sometimes sarcastic tone, I can tell how much you love Columbo. Like you, I could watch it for days.
Thank you very much ❤️
It's so great to have you back. Cartons of cigarettes on aisle three...Stay well, you are a treasure.
Thank you very much❤️
Admire your great work in making these videos.
Glad I found your videos, I love Columbo and enjoy watching your channel.
Thank you very much❤️
The drawings are great!! I saw in the live chat about raffling them. I wholeheartedly agree!!
Aww, lol. I don't know for sure how to do that but if people really wanted me to I would figure it out.
@@WatchitforDays ha, that was my thought, I’ll bet if there’s a will and way, she would figure it out. Well, if it happens, and I do win one, or all, I’ll have it professionally framed.
Well done Shonna! Excited to see the new posting. I especially liked your introduction of the deleted scenes. Tied it together nicely. Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Yes! This makes me so happy.
These are SO DAMNED entertaining! You have a gift. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm so happy you enjoy the videos!!!
I stopped binge watching Netflix to watch this when it popped up on my reminders!
😀
Aww, Thank you very much ❤️
Another great review. You have no equal when it comes to Colombo Deep Dive Reviews.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
Thank you very much!
Missed the premiere but always delighted to see one of your videos drop.
That's ok, maybe next time!
@@WatchitforDays I thought you we’re definitely gonna go extra meta by identifying Frank Oz in the Blues Brothers clip. It’d be cool if you then cut to Miss Piggy w Peter Falk or something like that.
I could find at least ten things you did that were over and above great, so please don’t take the prior comment as criticism.
The one hour I stayed put in my comfy chair and would not dare to move but had my eyes glued to the TV.
I'm always happy to see you 😊
But I didn't know who she was so I didn't say anything. I'm so happy you enjoyed the review. It really means a lot to me that you took the time to write!
I’m going through the series for the first time. You have the top Columbo content on the internet, for my money. I love how his name means ‘Dove’.
Thanks! Lovin’ the upload. You are the absolute best!!
I really appreciate you and your generosity! Thank you for this gift ❤️
I'm so happy you enjoy the Columbo videos!
Glad to see you're back! Can't wait to watch this.
I'm glad you're here!
I'm so happy to hear that, Richard 😊
Another video I will indeed Watch for Days. I do love the ever increasing size of the list for Mike!
Edit: Came for the Mystery stayed for the caviar
Excellent timing. I'm home sick with a cold and this is just what I needed! "Pillow doors".
Feel better soon, please!
Let's go favorite TH-cam channel uploading time for a TH-cam and chill
I have one line to add to your list of favorites: “I think you’re guilty of homicide.” MeTV used it to great effect when mashing up promos for Columbo and some other show. I also wish there were “director’s cut” editions of these Columbo episodes in existence, so we could see the deleted scenes. And TH-cam needs to get better with notifications so I’m not seeing your episodes on a delayed basis. Great work as always!
I appreciate that so much, John
New episode! Hooray! Hope you’re doing well and feeling great.
I am feeling great, Thank you very much ❤️
Thank you for another wonderful episode.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you very much for sharing 😊
