"Predator 2" (1990): Urban Jungle and a Deadlier Predator
Released in 1990, "Predator 2" is a science fiction action film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie is a sequel to the 1987 hit film "Predator" and takes the action from the jungle to the urban jungle of Los Angeles. The film features an even deadlier and more technologically advanced Predator hunting its prey in a gritty and crime-ridden city. Starring Danny Glover as Lieutenant Mike Harrigan, the film explores themes of urban violence, drug cartels, and police corruption, all while delivering intense action sequences and suspense.
Set in the near future of 1997, the movie showcases the Predator's adaptability as it uses the city's infrastructure to its advantage. The film also expands the lore of the Predator species, revealing more about their hunting practices and the existence of multiple Predators. While "Predator 2" didn't achieve the same iconic status as its predecessor, it remains a cult classic among fans of the franchise, known for its high-octane action and memorable scenes.
The film's blend of science fiction, horror, and action elements, along with its unique setting, adds a distinct flavor to the Predator series and demonstrates the franchise's ability to evolve and explore new environments. "Predator 2" is a noteworthy installment that has continued to capture the imagination of sci-fi and action enthusiasts over the years.

The one thing that Terminator, Alien, and Predator can agree on is that Bill Paxton had heart.
He had a spine too.
The Terminator just knocked him out he didn't kill him, I went back to rewatch it.
0:09 Even the predator hates that tony pope guy 😂😅
I don’t blame the big guy.
Rip bill Paxton, only actor to be killed by an alien, terminator, and an predator
don't forget that he also got killed by a ice cream man who had attached twin brother from tales of the crypt 'People Who Live in Brass Hearses'
Honorable mention to Lance Henriksen
@@RedSpartan32 Honorable mention? ehhhhh, they both the same
@@RedSpartan32 he's also in the tales of the crypt too. "why didn't you blow the whistle!?"
"jesus Christ, what the f**k are you?"...that's the same line or close to the same line he uses in Aliens
I wonder if Bill Paxton's audition was basically him telling the panel "I've been killed by a Terminator and an Alien. I was hoping to add a Predator to the list" and they agreed to it.
Terminator didn't kill him
@@srujan00 He's literally the first guy to be killed by a Terminator o_O;;
He survived the terminator by taking his clothes off like he was told
RIP Carl Weathers.
Predator: wants some candy?
“Let’s dance!”
guy made a peace offer, how noble of him.
That's probably what a predator would say
Not the best thing to say when you're called Predator
I think Jerry holding the golf ball made him remember the kid holding the candy.
I still think of a what-if ending where Bill Paxton’s golf ball clutched the fight. 😂
He throws it just as the Predator roars, he swallows it and chokes to death. Paxton immediately texts himself, "Note to self, might work on a xenomorph, probably not a terminator"
Or, the Predator takes it as a challenge to a golf match and the rest of the movie becomes a sports comedy.
@@kamilgregor Golf can be a pretty intense sport at times. I could see the Yautja taking a liking to the sport. Their whole hunting culture is about focus and patience, all of which are fundamental features of golf.
Great line from Predator 2: "Want some candy?"
Хотела угостить пришельца, а у них как никаких манеры есть
Jerry 100% put up a good fight with the resources he had 2 mags in his pistol then picked up a corpses knife plus the golf ball
Stress ball
1:11 set designer love to make future subway maps that would show what they wish was in LA 😂
Bill Paxton was an amazing character actor. Especially when he had a head!
Bill Paxton was the best!
Two little details I noticed. First, Leona is seen briefly holding her abdomen at the beginning of this scene. This is a nice little detail that she might be pregnant (whether she knew it or not is not certain). Also, the heat is getting to her more than the others.
Second, it's a REALLY good thing the Predator was standing in-between her and Jerry who is SHOOTING STRAIGHT IN HER AND THE OTHER PASSENGER'S DIRECTION.
How did the predator take those shots without damage? This scene make no sense at all as we already saw in first movie he takes damage from firearms
Stronger firepower that the soldiers were using in the first Predator compared to the firepower Police use. I think police use .40 Cal now though. State Troopers still use the big body .357 revolver if I’m not mistaken
preg from who ?
@@bladerj She probably had no idea (Sean Penn, Colors) (Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Running Man) (Robin Williams, Moscow On The Hudson) (Nick Nolte, Extreme Prejudice) (Nicolas Cage, Vampire's Kiss)...could've been any of them 🤣
That train was going from L.A to Chicago
Game over, man.
How does it work that Aliens and Predators shares the same universe and Bill Paxton has been in both?
Jerry was an ancestor of Hudson perhaps?🤔
Bill Paxton was definitely worthy prey
Great worthy sequel. Only scene I don’t like. How can so many rounds not even scratch the Yautja city hunter? Squeezed off two dozen rounds at 15 feet and not a single scratch, he never had full body armor. Should have allowed a fresh wound at least before killing Paxton.
With Leona and the rest of the civilians in the center of the subway carts trying to escape. Jerry couldn't risk one of his bullets going through the Predator and then hitting them. If you look at the clip you can tell Jerry was trying to aim for the arms and shoulders of the Predator. He was trying to shoot to disarm the Predator by wounding it. You see a spark indicating the bullet hit but dinged right off. Unfortunately for Jerry, the predator was armored in those areas.
@@J.Valentine1031 nonsense
Yeah, I agree. The whole thing had me questioning whether his cloaking device is gravity based , which would ( I suppose) plausibly explain bullets being deflected. I don't know. He gets winged by a bullet while camouflaged in the first movie, which leaves a blood trail. At the very least, it's inconsistent. At worst, lazy writing.
Bullets are able to hit the Predator and here they made a mistake. Mac managed to shoot the Predator while camouflaged
Imagine if the Predator recognized the golf ball as an appropriate form of duel, and pulled out his own
Imagine if Jerry says yes to “want some candy?” and next moment the predator and he just share some candies, chill, and wait till the next stop 😂
This movie is so underrated it’s not even funny best era of Movie making
0:23 the sound of the P226 firing was used in the Counter-Strike game during its beta stages (up until beta 6 or 7)
What doesn’t get mentioned a lot (if at all) is that Jerry could’ve saved his own life if he yelled out to and challenged the Predator who was walking towards the passengers. By doing so, he gave Leona and the passengers time to escape and they did.
You gotta give props to Jerry. He did put up a fight.
But I have some questions: Where did his bullets go? Did he even hit anything? Or did the Predator just tank all those shots, since they were like coming right at him.
Jerry is Braveee😢
Bill Paxton said, today is a good day to die.
Those civilians didn't pull the emergency they had to let the cop do it, they were so polite.
I have never understood how all those people missed the Predator so many times in that little subway car. Especially Bill Paxton at the end, how did he miss?
not only that, he managed to crawl and navigate his way back into that cart and PASSED the predator and ended up in front of him for his alamo. Thats always baffled me to this day.
I'm pretty sure he hit almost every shot, but the Predator was wearing armor that could stop light arms fire.
The bullets from Jerry's SIG-Sauer P226 (Nickel)
were ricocheting off of City Hunter's armor when he was firing at him.
0:52 and 0:54 it does appear that his bullets hit flesh as there _appears_ to be a distorted puff of green blood after each impact.
But given this Predator got up after repeated shotgun fire at close range that wasn't going to do much more than irritate it.
Can clearly see some of the bullets bouncing off him
Who got hit this time ?
Predator be like : Want some candy ? i thought this was candy distribution play? why are you guys armed then ?
Whats funny is this always reminds me like many movies from the late 70s to early 90s NYC and LA always had lots of crime and other stuff for decades yet the media act these were quite peaceful places, yet all big cities have it just how they act like its cant get better is funny or becoming a dystopia.
0:52
0:28 Paxton's character was never taught 'watch your backstop' in the academy.
Paxton's character is also a bit of a rebel when it comes to following procedure. That's why his character's nickname was the Lone Ranger. He had a problem with authority and working with a team.
Bill Paxton didn't get killed by the Terminator. Why tf people keep saying that!
He did my guy rewatch literally the first scene when the terminator arrives in 1984. Bill paxton was the white dude with the blue mohawk
@@jaredrivera9271Honestly, I’m a lil skeptic about it myself. In the movie, all the Terminator did was hit him against the fence real hard but didn’t show if he died or not. Rewatch that scene and you’ll see what I’m saying. But he def did get killed by both Alien and Predator.
Bill Paxton’s evil twin brother from “ twister “
And he even had time to survive Apollo 13 he is really lucky
I think this was actually bart where this section of predator was filmed
Yes it was. There was No way Bart was filmed in LA. So it had to be the bay area. Most likely San Francisco or somewhere in downtown Oakland since the tunnel seemed pretty long.
0:15 who see the Camarographe
Lance henrikson also died by an alien, predator, and terminator
He didn’t technically “die” from an alien, but was so damaged that he/it would rather be deactivated.
Yeah, but did he put up a fight against a tornado?
El espíritu de billy sole en Jerry al sostener el cuchillo 👮🔪👽
Jerry murió con honor
How many seizures do you think this scene caused in cinemas back in the day?
Want some candy? Shit always creeps me out.
Why did nobody else think of pulling the communication cord?
Also, after emptying his gun on the predator and not being able to stop him, did he really think throwing a golf ball at him was going to do any good?
That's something that guy would do, watch a whole movie to get it
Want some candy?
Never ever liked this scene. In the jungle, you shoot it, it bleeds. Yes, fans come up with shield theories. You shoot it, it bleeds end of.
1:29 That growl of the Predator is underrated and iconic, it has a pure predatory vibe to it that none of the other films compare, even the original. They really nailed the creature design in this one including the sound design - also later when the Predator dies, those screams sound excruciatingly painful. They gave this predator so much character.
1:30 RIP Bill Paxton.
“Want some candy?!” 🍭
With the optic camouflage and the darkness plus the subway car kept shifting, if made Jerry difficult to hit the Yautja and he kept hitting his Pauldron and parts of his armor instead of his exposed vitals.
Keep in mind that predator has a thick skin that it’s hard to penetrate with hand gun. A shotgun or a rifle would cause way more damage.
@@warrenstringham415 And the predator tanked even multiple blasts from a shotgun at point blank range during the fight scene in the warehouse. It injured him but did not kill him.
Bill Paxton didnt go down like a punk he risked himself to save others
Want some candy?
Still trying to figure out why The Predator offered Jerry some candy
Trying to mock him,I guess...
The Predator can mimic what people say, but it doesn't understand human languages. Instead it uses the phrases it learns to manipulate and confuse its victims. Earlier in the film it came across a human child that offered it some candy...it might've misinterpreted the meaning
0:17 - 1:24 Predator takin an entire minute to take 2 steps to get to Bill Paxton... while somehow dodging his 30 bullets
That was one long ass tunnel
Evil against me let’s dance
Not to be judgemental, but as a hunter myself I have never been invisible or immune to damage when hunting dangerous game.
Try a charging moose with a bolt action and see how tight your alien balls are shrivelling.
I want this things skull for MY wall!
What boggled my mind back then and it still does is the fact that the predator didn't wear any body armour except his helmet and vambraces. What the encounter with Harrigan we can clearly see he is not immune to bullets at all. So why didn't Jerry hurt him? Was he aiming solely at his head where his helmet protected him? The shoulder cannon lent some protection too, but it still looks silly as hell to me.
Even being invisible already made this a cheat code situation, the idea that a group of newly met mercs would have such great fire control they only lit up the treeline at waste level and not accidently hit the target with all the rounds fired is beyond belief.@@restoreupscale1521
RIP bill paxton
Just good ol' Bill Paxton doing his Bill Paxton business: dying terrible deaths in every single movie. RIP
Uhhh….The tornadoes didn’t kill him in Twister.
@@alexshank1414He also survived Apollo 13.
But when he had to go, he _never went gentle into that good night_ ...
Bean and Trejo still got him beat.
I don't get it why no bullet hit the predator or was it that he had some kind of shield aparte from his camouflage?
armor
Several rounds hit him, but probably also several missed. Extreme stressor situation, moving train, almost invisible adversary. You see the sparks of several shot off the alien. The camouflage provided some type or protection vs small arms fire perhaps?
