You need some Jasper Fforde in your TBR. Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow as a standalone and Walter Moers's Zamonia novels plus The Alchemaster's Apprentice are good translations of even better foreign originals.

Just an idea: As you mentioned in the beginning, some authors just haven't published many books (yet), but you still count them among your favourites.
I think it would be really interesting if you made a video talking about authors from which you have read every single one of their books! :)

Interesting video. Pratchett is by far my most read author w/ 43 books (including the ones written w/ other authors) 👀 From Discworld, my favourites are Hogfather, Thief of Time, Witches Abroad, Thud & Going Postal. Agatha Christie is next w/ 37 books, the next ones are probably authors I mostly read as a kid, like Astrid Lindgren.

This is a good self-audit. Realizing now that 90% of mine are children’s authors but it is what it is.
*Every author I’ve read more than 5 books by according to Goodreads:*
    Meg Cabot
Beverly Cleary - need to mark these on my Goodreads, forgot she existed for a bit but definitely read a lot of hers as a child
    Lois Duncan
Diana Gabaldon - I like Outlander... I just do.
    Philippa Gregory
    DJ MacHale
Ann M. Martin - definitely read all 131 Babysitter’s Club books plus some of the spinoffs, but never bothered to mark them all on my Goodreads 😅
    George RR Martin
    Marissa Meyer
    Philip Pullman
    Rick Riordan
    Veronica Roth
    J. K. Rowling
    Victoria/VE Schwab
    Darren Shan
    JRR Tolkien
    Laura Engalls Wilder
So many authors I’ve read 3-4 books by, but 5 seemed to be where things started to split. Less than half of these I would actually consider a favorite author though.
I don’t think I’d ever heard of Jacquelyn Wilson before this so I’m wondering if she’s basically the UK version of Ann M. Martin or Beverly Cleary. 🤔

The authors I’ve read the most of (and of various series as per your criteria), off the top of my head are Agatha Christie, John Dickson Carr/ Carter Dickson (Golden age Detective author who wrote different series under each name and I love both), David Eddings, Rick Riordan, Jane Austen, CLAMP (a manga group) and Nora Roberts. I know there are others, but that’s all I can come up with at present.

I love the Johnny Maxwell trilogy!, my favourite of the trilogy is Johnny and the Dead. I borrowed the unabridged audiobook of it from the library, and listened to it numerous times. I honestly don't think I would have got through my teenage years without it.

I read my first Terry Pratchett book in 2018, Going Postal and loved it. I'm hoping to finish the trilogy this year and then probably need to watch your Discworld video to figure out a good reading order. Thanks to you I've read 2 Tessa Dare books since December with a 3rd on my bookshelf to read later this month. Also planning to explore some Juliet Marillier this year is on your recommendation.
In recent years my most read authors are Nora Roberts mostly because I've read every one of her futuristic mystery In Death series (book 50 was just released) and some of her romantic suspense and paranormal romance books. Anne Bishop is a fantasy author - I've only read one of her series (5 books + 2 books in the same universe) but do plan on exploring her other series eventually. Another fantasy author I read a lot is Michael J. Sullivan although I prefer his Riyria series to his more recent Legends of the First Empire series. Also interracial romance writer J.J. Murray and m/m romance writer Heidi Cullinan.

  • @alexpoulpe979

Interesting, we have many most read authors in common, but quite different tastes nonetheless:
    1. Terry Pratchett - 25 books (a couple of which I didn't really like). I adore Little Gods (it was my first, the Truth, I Shall Wear Midnight, and everything with the witches in.
    2. Lois McMaster Bujold - 23 books of my beloved sci-fi series Vorkosigan Saga (some of which are short novellas). The only books with some heavy romance I ever enjoyed!
    3. Isaac Asimov - 20 ish books. I love his old school sci-fi.
Then a few authors I've read between 15 and 20 books: Margaret Attwood, Shakespeare, Ursula LeGuin, Stephen King, Clive Barker.
I looooved Cat's Eyes. I loved everything I've read by Margaret Attwood so far anyway, especially her more autobiographical work (but I normally hate autobiographies) and the Maddadam trilogy.
I hate romance (most of the time) and adore Sci-fi and Horror, with a bit of Fantasy in between, but I'm open to discover good Literary Novels and Classics. I think my most read books shows it pretty well haha. ❤

I’m American, but my library had Vicki’s Angel and Bad Girls. I think I sort of picked up on the fact they were set in the UK. Either way they were definitely different content wise then the children’s fantasy, I’d been reading previously. I think this is because my parents are more conservative they didn’t want me reading Judy Blume’s more ya books or anything by authors they /knew/ covered those topics. So I think it’s a good thing Jacqueline Wilson wasn’t on their radar. :D

I've quickly gone through my Goodreads page. I've read 69 Agatha Christie books, 42 Michael Morpurgo books, 21 Val McDermid books, 18 Terry Pratchett books and 15 Roald Dahl books. When I was younger, not all of the Roald Dahl books were illustrated by Quentin Blake, so I've got real affection for the Tony Ross, Emma Chichester Clark and Michael Foreman illustrated editions. I also had Roald Dahl audiobooks, they usually came with a paperback edition of the book.

The author I read most of as a child was Enid Blyton I read all the Famous 5 books and most of the Secret 7 books plus other series she wrote
As an Adult my 2 most read authors are Philip K Dick who Ive read about 25 novels by and loads of his short stories The author who Ive read most novels by is Alexander McCall Smith who ive read about 30 novels by Ive just finished one last week : The Department of Sensitive Crimes I'm always surprised that his work isnt discussed more on BookTube Although Ive read more novels by him than PK Dick his novels tend to be short and Ive read no short stories by him . Third I would say surprisingly is Michael Moorcock who Ive read about 12 novels by and Maybe Terry Pratchet would be after that Ive read 8 Discworld novels plus Nation and 2 or 3 he cowrote with Stephen Baxter . I have Wildwood dancing and keep meaning to read it I might prioritise it this month

We have a lot of similar most-read authors. I think the only other two I'd have to add are Jasper Fforde (I've read and adored nearly every book of his I've read except Shades of Grey which was still good but not the same amount of adoration from me -- The Thursday Next series is my favourite series of all time and the first book is always my go-to rec when people ask me for a book to check out) and Elle Kennedy because I went on a huge sports-inspired romance novel binge when I was recovering from surgery and I fell in love with her books from there.

Interesting idea. It is quite surprising when I look at my list. Most read authors (as an adult, not counting the ones I read a long series by): Isabel Allende, Chaim Potok, Rosita Steenbeek (dutch author), John Steinbeck, Haruki Murakami. And I also read lots of John Grisham and Nora Roberts when I was younger, but then I did not really keep track of my reading. But that was way before Goodreads and Booktube came into my life and I did not know where to find book recommendations.

I loved the Monster Story Teller! It's one of the few books I've read where the main character had my name. It was also a fun story. I think Jacqueline Wilson is one of my most read authors well. My favourites were The Bed and Breakfast Star, Bad Girls, Best Friends, Candyfloss, Buried Alive, My Sister Jodie (tears) and the Girls series. I've read some of her newer releases just to see what they're like and they're still really good! It'd be fun to see you read some of her newer releases.
My other most read authors are Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Cassandra Clare, Sarah Dessen, Sarah J Maas, Rick Riordan, and Lemony Snicket.
Robin Hobb and Brandon Sanderson will probably eventually join this list as well, I want to read a lot of their books.

So fascinating that you hated Cat's Eye! I loved it myself, and it's apparently her most autobiographical work. I've also read a lot of Atwood - just counted ten in total, and the only one I didn't really like that much was MaddAddam, the conclusion to her post-apocalyptic trilogy. I would highly recommend the first two in that series to you if you want to read more by her - Oryx and Crake, and the Year of the Flood - particularly the latter as they have parallel timelines so you can read in any order!

Just from guessing mine would probably feature quite a few playwrights like Shakespeare, Ibsen, Goethe, Schiller. Also Minette Walters and Sebastian Fitzek for crime fiction and Joe Abercrombie and Ralf Isau for fantasy. Murakami as well. I've read at least 10 works of any of those authors, if I like a few of their works I start to read their whole backlist.

Firstly, if you want to read some Roald Dahl, I highly recommend Danny The Champion of the World. Easily right up there with Matilda as my favourite of his books. That being said, I'm due for a reread myself! Lol.
What an interesting question- Charlaine Harris is right up there, if you forgive that I've only read Sookie Stackhouse from her. I enjoyed them, they were fun. By your standards where it's more than one series I would say I've read the most by Sarah J. Maas. I've read everything she has out, which is eleven books, I think? I love them, just the right mix of fantasy, angst and romance. I need to pull my socks up with Juliet Marillier, however! I have read three of the Sevenwaters books (the series was completed at that point because it was like ten years or more ago, good god) Heart's Blood (my first book by her) and Wildwood Dancing. I have to say I've read more standalones over the years I think. But I figure I've got many years to read more amazing books, so bring it on.

  • @NeftoonZamora

I've read all the Aurora Teagarden books by Charlaine Harris (not read her other series). She had finished the series years ago and just recently started bringing out new books in it. I read the first of the new ones last year and forgot how much I enjoyed her, so bought the next one just recently and plan to read it soonish.
With out a doubt my most read author would be Enid Blyton. I have over 100 books of hers that I read as a child and I know there were other books I read of hers that I borrowed from friends.
Also, I'm currently listening to The Witches on audiobook (mainly in the car). It's one of those books that I can't remember if I read it as a kid or not. Miranda Richardson is reading it, and I was loving her voice until I got to the parts with the head witch, and I can't understand a word she's saying. It's a little bit frustrating.

By far, I've read the most things by Catherynne M. Valente, having read basically everything (34 books in total according to my GoodReads, including poetry collections). I think the only thing I haven't read from her is The Ice Puzzle, which is no longer available. I've adored pretty much every book, with my favorite being In the Cities of Coin and Spice, the second in her Orphan's Tale duology.
After that, I've read most everything by Maggie Stiefvater, save for her first duology. I pretty much entirely disliked her Wolves of Mercy Falls series, but I did really like Sinner, the spin-off last book. While The Raven Cycle is an easy place to recommend starting, I think The Scorpio Races is where I'd start. It was just a joy to read.

Let's see... Guy Gavriel Kay is probably my favorite, most read author. There's two books of his I thought were just okay - Ysabel and Last Light Of The Sun. Neil Gaiman might be next in terms of numbers. I've never read his children's books though. I feel like everything I've read is pretty much of the same quality. Robin McKinley - I've read all of her books except I think she had some she co-authored that I haven't read. Again, I at least like everything she's done but Sunshine is one of my favorites ever. There's so many more, but most of them are writers of long series that I thought were good but not great, like Robert Jordan's Wheel Of Time, Robin Hobb's Farseer series, and honestly a bunch of urban fantasy series I've mostly forgotten.
