If the Greek generals weren’t so greedy and made peace terms with Turkey, then maybe we would be still holding Smyrna and Adrianople to this day

The reason Greece lost the Asia minor campaign was that there wasn't any help from the great powers towards Greece while in the mean time the French, Italians and Bolseviks supported Kemal. Another reason was the political divide in the country which affected the performance of the army

You don't know the history of the war, if you think it was possible for us Greeks to hold Smryna.
The Greek army may have fought bravely and had some success, up to a point, but the army was eventually completely exhausted , demoralized , and without adequate supplies, and then the Turkish counter offensive, at the Battle of Dumlupınar on August, the 26,(1922) the Greek army, was completely destroyed, , many men, were killed and 20 thousand soldiers were captured, weapons were abandoned. Under those conditions an army can no longer fight, so the only choice that remained , for the fragmented, remnants of the Greek army was to evacuate, and to seek a truce with the Turks, and that's what they did.
There was no treachery or betrayal, by anyone on the Greek side but instead the Greeks had greatly underestimated the difficulty of accomplishing their goal of delivering a knockout blow to the Turkish nationalists, and thus enforcing the Treaty of Sevres. And secondly almost everything started to go against the Greek Army, quite early on, and these things just multiplied as time went on , so the whole enterprise was in fact doomed.
      .

It is. It was originally an Ottoman march for Smyrna. It's melody was appropriated by the Greek army with slight changes to symbolize the city's recapture from the Ottomans after centuries.

First of all, they're not funny shoes and they're definitely not "fuckin." They're traditional Greek highlander shoes that were used for many many years in mountains and rough terrain. Usually they have hobnails at the bottom and a knife hidden in the pom pom in the case of the evzones. Sounds badass to me honestly mate.

@@shivajiraje6122 we conquered and subjugated the land and now in every inch of Anatolia Turkish language and culture can be seen. Maybe they should have focused on repelling us instead of having constant civil wars among themselves. We bled for these lands more then any other so much so that every inch of its soil soaked our blood. Going by this logic we have more rights to the land then any other and we are still prepared to die for it.
