My local game stops have nothing but shovelware. Even on ps4 and xbox one. Its like all they have. If your lucky you will see 1 or 2 copies of call of duty mw 2019 or maybe one copy of gta 5 but the rest is just bad games that people dont want so the shelves are full of them.
Gamestop can be great for retro. Haven't found any great deals lately but, year and a half ago I found a mint GBA fire emblem sacred stones for 50 bucks. Gamestop does NOT take condition into account when pricing games. They would have charged the same for a loose cart as the full boxed version.
Try to go to GameStop in Florida during 2020-2022 without a mask and see how quickly they scream at you to wear a mask or get out as if you’re some dangerous and diseased animal. I’ll never forget and I’ll never forgive.
I don't like Gamestop, expensive and had very limited amount of retro games when they were around in my country. If i buy retro i buy from independent shops, they often got games i'm looking for. Besides that i also import plenty of games from Japan, they are often much cheaper as well.
My local GameStop doesn’t have any retro stuff out on display anymore. When I asked about Wii and ps3 games, they handed me a catalog, and the selection wasn’t great. And no 4 for $20 deals or anything like that anymore
Gamestop may be the best option for some people. Depends entirely on your location. You're right about the employees making or breaking the experience. Any time I'm in a game store where it seems like the employees think I should be grateful they're even letting me shop there, obviously that's a big turnoff.
I went to 3 different GS stores in my area., The oldest games they had in stock were ps3. Nothing ps2 or earlier. They said they rarely ever get anything shipped to them, and they usually only have the few trades that come in the door.
I was told by the store manager in one Game Stop near me that all the retro games are sent to his store and sold from there only because its easier. Didn't want to tell him that i found retro games in other Game Stops cause the customer service was better in the other places. The Game Stops in my area are hit and miss as far as customer service is involved. I went into one where two employees were working and one was helping out a little kid and his mom and the other employee starting making fun of him. The employee helping asked the other guy "don't you care about helping someone?" which then the other employee replied with a "F%^$ them". I left that store cause i knew that i was not going to get any help. The Game Stop where the manager told me about the retro games, has a assistant manager who wont sell the retro games with the original game boxes and manuals and will only sell you the game.

I have had several failures with GameStop out of the Texas warehouse. All disc games the were overly resurfaced. I have had better luck with eBay.

Game x change was rhe only place i could find anything older than ps2. And now these days they do their prices based off ebay. Its is outrageous.
