A modification can be done that moves the alternator to the place of the AC compressor. of course this means no AC, but some 4x4 wheelers do this at it keeps the alternator out of the water and mud that offroading can have.
Horse crap just take bracket off bro I just did it today it’s ten times easier but hey you have to start somewhere this video still helped me loads to get my bearings
very dumb... that fan shroud directs the cooling from the clutch fan. you're going to need that. take the clutch out with the shroud at the same time. it comes out perfectly. just take the battery out next time if you need to get to the alternator from the top. terrible video
I'm telling you right now there are different ones they do not all look like this through those years there's another video right here on TH-cam showing the same thing and on mine on a 95 model there are four bolts that aren't even seen in that video because they're not there this is the dumbest alternator I've ever laid my eyes on
@@2014cwajts71 When I changed out the alternator on my 1990 Comanche , I went in from the top removing the AC compressor as well and did NOT have to discharge the system. The compressor unbolts from a bracket and you can just set it to the side with the A/C lines attached.
Why not drop the alternator out from the bottom?

I did it without taking bottom bracket off.I pulled fan shroud and fan.Hope this helps!

You need that fan shroud , as it helps the cooling fan a lot in getting air to flow through the radiator. restore your fan shroud.

You don't have to take off the clutch fan, or loosen the power steering pump.
How come my 97 Cherokee alternator is up top next to the battery..?

This doesn’t work for a Renix Jeep. Totally different bracket. Either that is custom or aftermarket to fit a different alternator.

It's called a fan shroud, and you should have dropped it from the bottom.
