You forgot about the "buck tag" that was located on passenger side near hood hinge. It’s my understanding that the New Jersey plant is the only one that put them on. It has vin, date built, color code and more. I was lucky to buy my "66 with it still affixed.

I'm confused. You say 07,08,09 indicates body style. But I've also seen 01, 02 ,03 indicating the same thing for the year 67. which is it? Looking at buying a 67 in the UK and checking the vin out to make sure I'm not buying a dud car.

My "body style" stamp says 01. Clearly 01. Not 07. What is 01???

I'm looking at a mustang to buy and the vin shows it is a 1966 since the first number is a 6. however the body and the whole dash is a 1967. would they make a 1967 mustang and put a 6 in front of the vin for any reason? Or did someone keep the 1966 frame and put a 1967 body/ interior on top of it?? thank you

My 67 mustang vin starts off 7R01C what is the 01? it is a coupe shouldn't it be 07?

For 67 01 is a coupe, 02 a fastback, and 03 a convertible

Did anyone else notice he said Number, Letter, Number, Letter, Number? It's actually number, letter, number number letter then all numbers. My 66 is anyway.
