@@KaimArgonarEyyyy Yup, that happened in mid-2022. It was discovered by complete accident when someone entered Palace Ruins with a side mission active. I think it’ll get covered in the later parts of the docu-series
Thanks! You never know the outcome for sure, though. Lost plenty of PBs in the last few second because Laser Skip didn’t work on Final Boss; it ain’t over ‘till it’s over lol

Its absolutely astonishing to see how far you and the rest of the SR community has come in this game. Congrats on an amazing run and a brilliant WR, and thanks for supplying casual Jak fans like me with top notch entertainment!
I don’t think it will. I might be mistaken, but I believe Ricky’s plan is to cover the Any% No OoB route from Era VI onward and disregard “traditional” Any%. The tl;dr is we discovered an invulnerability glitch that prevents Jak from getting grabbed by the tentacle, and it also prevents him from swimming. So instead of going out of bounds and swimming to the Temple once we reach the ocean, we can instead rolljump across the water. There’s some nuance to the glitch, but it has a lengthy explanation lol. This route change happened in the first half of 2023
@@forestcult7780 Gotcha, I’m following now. Well, here’s the long-winded explanation if you were ever curious: I do the glitch twice in this run: once at the start by damage-cancelling on the lava using a zoom-in with the camera, and the second time using a grounded spin-kick and shooting frame-perfectly when Jak touches the lava. The zoom method only works at the start of the game (on PS2). The gun version works anywhere there’s a surface like the lava. Not everyone does the glitch twice, but the first time I do it is currently the fastest way to get out of training course. Bonking Jak on an object with a roll causes him to revert to normal, so rolling into any object during the desert sequence effectively ends the run because there’s no way to regain invuln unless you go back to Spargus. It’s faster to reset and try again. You can see me intentionally lose the glitch by bonking into a rock before I do Waterfall Boosted to get to the Temple. Falling and splatting also loses the glitch, and moves it into a new glitch. We call the first one invuln1 and the second one invuln2. At the end of the first mission, when I fall into the light zone, I intentionally take fall damage to move from invuln1 to invuln2, otherwise the game doesn’t play the cutscene. It shows a black screen, and you can hear Jak moving in the background if you move around. You can blindly move around and either make him roll-bonk or fall and splat, then the cutscene will play. By landing in the light zone and taking fall damage, the cutscene plays as soon as Jak finishes the get-up animation during the black screen, which is why the load looks super long. That’s pretty much the basics, but if you ever had more questions, I never mind to try and answer
I skimmed through Goofy's to be sure (his 25:45), and although there have been a couple fairly large skips discovered that saved a lot (the invuln route through the desert saves ~1.5 minutes--the biggest in terms of timesave), most of it was optimizations in movement and routing. Lots of "5 seconds here" and "5 seconds there" type of stuff that adds up over time. I'd like to get sub-19 at some point in the future
i'm a french jak 3 enjoyer wich decided to get off the dust on my ps2, i wondered how jak 3 speedrun looks like... Not disapointed ! well done GG, really impressive run
There isn’t currently one for this route, but thaRixer has an ongoing video series about the any% route history of Jak 3. It doesn’t cover a lot of the stuff you see in this run, but there are elements that still carry over from the time period he covers. They’re exceptional videos if you haven’t seen them already
We start a side mission before entering Palace Ruins. By doing this, the game enters a strange “ghost town” state for the next couple missions, because the game still thinks Jak is in a side mission. So, when we enter Palace Ruins, no enemies or breakable barriers spawn (because the game thinks we’re in the side mission still). We proceed through Ruins without dying and enter the Break Through Ruins (BTR) mission. Since we’re technically still in this “side mission,” the game doesn’t spawn the forced vehicle, the Ram Rod, for us to complete the mission with. Instead, it puts us in the mission on-foot, allowing us to use the Jetboard, which is easier AND faster than using the car to complete the mission. When we reach the end of BTR, the game starts acting normal again, which is convenient, because doing the subrails missions on-foot would be slow and nightmarish lol
The zoom-in is part of an unavoidable trigger. Normally, a cutscene plays after you break the first two pillars to disable the first barrier. During our side-mission storage, the cutscene triggers and puts us in free cam. If we don’t hit it, the level won’t load. Similarly, we have to restart the BTR mission at one point in order to load the last part of the level, otherwise we can’t beat it. The death-warp is faster than a restart-warp by a few seconds. We pass a certain checkpoint before we die so it loads the level and puts us closer to the end as well. Hope that helps!
Before I ever leave the arena in Spargus, I do a glitch where I do a frame-perfect spin-shot with the Scatter gun on the lava. That glitch puts Jak in a state where he can’t swim, which is how we rolljump on the water. I don’t know if we have a tutorial on the invuln glitch at the moment. I might make one later on, and I’ll let you know 👍
Who is here from Rixer's history of jak 3 and have 0 idea whats going on still?

Nope. He said he’s moving from covering Any% to Any% No OoB for the remainder of his series
Can you explain what is happening from 9:51 to 12:44?
We start a side mission before entering Palace Ruins. By doing this, the game enters a strange “ghost town” state for the next couple missions, because the game still thinks Jak is in a side mission.
So, when we enter Palace Ruins, no enemies or breakable barriers spawn (because the game thinks we’re in the side mission still). We proceed through Ruins without dying and enter the Break Through Ruins (BTR) mission.

What is the point of zoom in at btr and also dying?
The zoom-in is part of an unavoidable trigger. Normally, a cutscene plays after you break the first two pillars to disable the first barrier. During our side-mission storage, the cutscene triggers and puts us in free cam. If we don’t hit it, the level won’t load.
