    We did the Katy about 10 years ago. Thanks for sharing.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing your adventure. I especially liked the fact that you didn't drown everything with dopey music. That drives me crazy, and it's all over TH-cam, even when natural sounds are a big part of what's being shown. This was fun to watch. The natural sound made it easier to feel like I was riding with you.

      Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the positive comments. Heading out to the GAP Trail in early June, then a few more Wisconsin adventures during the summer. Maybe a fall trip as well. Enjoy your riding season.

    Hello, thank you for the awesome video. I cycle the Katy Trail twice a year. I think it’s one of the most wonderful trails in the country.

    Great footage. This was recorded 3 weeks before my trip on the Katy except i took Amtrak to Lees Summit and the rock island connector to Windsor. I am definitely going back.

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. We have yet to use Amtrak during our trips, but it looks like a good way to go. We're doing an out and back on the GAP Trail in June. Hope to also fit in a fall trip..maybe the KATY again?

    My wife and I just got back from doing a couple sections - Weldon Springs to Augusta and Providence to Rocheport!! Haven’t done any trails in WI yet, but that’s on the list for next summer! Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks for watching. Plenty of great trails in Wisconsin. Can ride from Sheboygan to Milwaukee 95% on trails. Can ride from Milwaukee to LaCrosse and on to Winona, MN on trails (there is a 4 mile gap east of Madison, and about a 30 mile gap between Madison and Reedsburg, need to take roads) Madison is a great hub for three great rail trails, Military Ridge, Badger, and Glacial Drumlin. Plus trails in Madison are great! We will be doing an out and back on the full GAP Trail in mid-October. Hope to post the video a few weeks after.

    Thank you for one of the better videos of cycling the Katy Trail. I'm always looking for real trail conditions while riding , not the selfies when researching a bike trip. Only thing I would have liked more would be outdoor camping site info as opposed to indoor, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks again for a great informative and enjoyable video. Ride safe & keep riding.

      Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun ride on a great trail. Upgraded to a GoPro 8 with a handlebar mount, so much smoother than our 2021 video on the GAP/C&O shot with a GoPro 3 with chest mount....hope to ride those two trails again in 2024. Staying closer to home this season as we plan on riding several Wisconsin rail trails this summer.

    A very nice trip video. I was at the opening of a very short KATY trail. There were only a few miles around Jefferson City on the Dedication day in 1990. I still have the Grand Opening T-Shirt they gave out. I have only done the trail from Pilot Grove to Herman, but many trips between Pilot Grove and Hartsburg. We were camping and there were only a few places to camp along the trail. A good base camp for shorter trips is the KATY Roundhouse in New Franklin, MO. I have had to stop long distance riding due to cancer. So these video bring back many memories.
    This is one of the best videos I have watched on the complete trail. Now you can ride from Kansas City to Machens using the Rock Island Trail.
    What camera mount did you use on the trip. I can't seem to find a good one that doesn't vibrate or wobble.

      Thanks for the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed our video. I currently use a standard type handlebar GoPro mount that I kind of piece together. I do try to raise it up and forward as to not include my front bag in every shot. Still working on a mount that I'm totally comfortable with. The biggest and best change that I made was upgrading from a GoPro 3 (used in my first two bike trip videos) to a Go Pro 8 with video stabilization capability (used in the KATY video). This really ended any major shaking and bumping on the videos. Still working on my camera work.

    Curious as to what gear you were using during the majority of your ride. Front chain ring and rear derailleur?

    • @lammetrackproductions3962
      @lammetrackproductions3962  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tom, While touring fully packed down, we usually push a fairly easy gear and try to keep up a faster cadence. So on my Trek 520 I use my middle chain ring on the front most of the time and ride on the middle of my rear gears and adjust accordingly. Not sure of the exact gear ratio. So on a rail trail with only slight elevation changes, we can usually ride around 12 mph, going a bit slower on the uphill grades, and faster on the down grades. Hope you found our video helpful.

      @@lammetrackproductions3962 Thanks, that is helpful. Both myself and my wife tend to ride in harder gears most of the time when we are out on paved bike trail (largest front chain ring and two smallest rear gears) but I think we would both benefit from an easier approach when on gravel or going much longer distances.

    Is it possible to "credit card" the Katy Trail?

    • @lammetrackproductions3962
      @lammetrackproductions3962  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that's pretty much how we did it since we don't camp, but stay in hotels or B&B's. There seemed to be good access to both along the trail.

    How did you get from the bridge over the Missouri to the motel in Jefferson City?

    • @lammetrackproductions3962
      @lammetrackproductions3962  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We came off the bridge and used city streets to get to the hotel. They were not too busy and were very wide. As I recall I think we took Clay street to High Street to get us close. It was also pretty much down hill to the Capitol Plaza. A bit tougher on the way back since se did have to go back up the hill to get back on the bridge. Hope this helps.

      There's a ramp that's been built to get bikes up to the bridge and then streets into town.
