- This is a recording of a solo euphonium arrangement played by Senior student Toby Furr with band (Lake Highlands Wind Ensemble - Jeff Bradford director, Dallas, Texas - Spring Concert / May 19, 2009). Toby was the Texas All-State first chair euphonium player for 2009. He will be attending the University of North Texas in the fall of 2009 to study with world renowned euphonium master Brian Bowman.
I have been playing Euphonium for about six years. I have never heard a great euphonium player for awhile. Good job and keep up the good work.
Bravo! Loved the clarinet sound as well.
I love Texas wind Band!!!
toby furr (this guy) and jaren reyes are two of te best high school/college euphoniumists in the state of texas today. jaren got 1st chair in all state, and toby got 1st last year, they are both really good, i am also a euphonium player, i hope to become a pro one day also.
had to comment again, FANTASTIC intonation on that last high note of the piece!!
The beauty he brings to that instrument is great. Perfect warmth for it. Ah...i need to go buy myself a Euph to continue playing lol
You know this guy's good when the related videos include the great David Childs.
As a trumpet player? Yes. Baritone? I love it and I don't suck at it!
Good luck at North Texas! You'll do great with those chops :D
i love the euph, but isn't it silly how they always film the players from the angle where you can't see their face, i wanna see the pain in his eyes :)
I played the trumpet. Which playing the trumpet and sounding like a dying cow are two different things. I mastered the dying cow sound. :=)
holy shit dude ur the next David Childs and Brian Bowman put together... nice work :)
wow i liked it
yes he did
Very good; nicely played
alos kevin wagner, and dylan toombs are beast as well.
Yeah. My band director was one of the judges and he said he could tell which one was me. :/ I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. I'm an 11th grader and FINALLY made it into all regions. I didn't tryout my 9th grade year.
I believe that Dylan Toombs got first chair all state this past year...
I switched to baritone my 9th grade year and I wasn't completly comfortable with it. I'm in region 1 (I think) in Arkansas!
I think the majority of euphoniums play bass clef. I do, but clearly there are a lot of us, so who knows.
Ryan McDaniel ن bad trumpet players go euph and dont bother to adjust
What's the song they r playing? Otherwise good job
@MultiEuphonics wait, so are you marcus overton?
what euphonium and mouthpiece is he using?
BTW, im a good player too lol. i got first chair in all region, in the second best band, and im a freshman, and so did my friend, he plays trombone, he is equally beast lol. and, im not trying to brag
I'm the best baritone in my class probably because i am the only one and no one knows what is except my band teacher
the sad part is i played right handed and left handed baritone and right handed euphonium
haha you make me look like crap... i envy this guy
he WAS triple tonguing at parts. lmfao
What key is this in?
@mommafatwolf ah, i was thinking that. im sure you werent that bad. lol.
You can't be a rock star on a euphonium because the bell blocks the view of your face. This sounds awesome, though.
dang what a hot euphonium player hahahaha!!!!!
wow is that guy good. im pretty good at baritone. best in my class, but not as good as that guy.
Man, it sure would suck to be the guy who went right after him at All Region tryouts. "sigh"
I went after him in the all state audition room...i feel your pain...haha
I wish you could too. ;( Because if you did, you'd be my hero for ever and ever. Hahaha! Sadly, I'm in a high school band where no one would ever want to play pieces higher than a jr. High level. So, I go to all region!
oh lol, in 8th grade, one of mine was a judge too, and she could tell it was me too, and its a good thing lol.oh thats awesome, you know what region youre in? why didnt you tryout in 9th grade?
wow make me think maybe someone out the is better than me thats not super pro enhhh i still have red band but great job man
@mommafatwolf ah! i see, what did you play before baritone? and cool, region 27, texas. =]
@mommafatwolf haha, me too fool, the all region part at least lol.
Toby ur awesome.
i forgot how awesome this was.
@dylhamprunes LMAO dylan its because he wasnt competing LOL
@mommafatwolf i have it, i wish i could give it to you..=[
this awesome , did you out place dorian scott?
This guy could probably triple tongue
His tone is gorgeous.
It probably depends on in what type of band u play. I rarely play Bass-clef nowadays. All is written in treble-clef and its only if I play in a windorchestra I sometimes get bass-clef notes.
But all brassbandmusic is always trebleclef and all solos comes with both so for me its 99.9% trebleclef :D
Awsome! I got 2nd band 4th chair this year. Although, I really thought my tryouts went horrible. But, congrats on being a freshman and making it! I tried out my 9th grade year and I didn't make it by 2 points.
I played Euphonium for 8 years and did DCI with Phantom for a couple summers. You make me look incompetent -- at my best -- while you are still in high school. Mad props bro.
I'd love a copy of this piece. I love playing my baritone. No, I'm not that great but, if I work at it, I will be! This guy is amazing!
I agree, when I started playing euphonium parts, in brassband and in windorchestra, I almost forgot what bass clef was...
I was in the LH band and knew him...he's pretty damn good...not a bad trombonist either.
Even the kazoos are bigger in Texas!
all i have to say is amazing i wish i was tht good at the euphonium
Umm.... So did you read the title or are you a Stevie Wonder.
