Ruji Yu yes it's the same thing I have got a lot of respect for women with handbag collections or anyone with shoes 5 years ago I did not but now I get it
Pandamonium the intent behind this Karambit was any way of opening wave it flip it use the thumb hole the only one that doesn't work well as the flipper
Yeah I have a karambit as well and its not really reliable, but that little sort of rigde on him is really nice when you need a fast opening from a pocket, anyways really like your collection
Nice Vid. Have noticed these things on my knives as well. In general I think you're right about the flipper "growing" when being lowered. It's just necessary in orger do get enough force into the opening before the flipper goes into the handle. The only exception to this that I have seen is the ozark trail wood flip knife. It has a low, very small flipper, but still flips very well with a light switch. One thing I would wan't to add is the angle the flipper protrudes is also important. The wood flip knife has a flipper with a downward angle which makes it easy to slip off and it doesn't seem to transfer the force as well as an upward angled one. When talking about angles I mean the top of course. A 90 degree flipper (e.g. kershaw cryo) is good for push button or light switch while other angles seem to work better with a light switch technique.
Interesting discussion. If the speed of the blade opening is important, I'd think that friction at the pivot might be more important than the mass or length of the blade. In general, a shorter, lighter blade should open faster. If you think of the path of the blade tip as a semicircle, a shorter blade has less distance to travel, and a lighter blade has less mass to get moving. After that, it's just a question of how much leverage you have - a longer lever would be better - and how much friction at the pivot impedes the blade's movement.
i see everyone just with their tip of their finger not saying its wrong or anything but the space underneith the top of the vinger if u use that to pull or push it down takes less energy and also makes it less to not even painfull found this out when i got my first knife which was a switchblade spring assisted and i was so happy with it that i was 24/7 opening it and closing it which after a while hurt my finger so i found this trick out.
Harrison Kohler I would say skallagrim is the skallagrim of knives that's where he started really he's moved primarily in into swords and armor in the recent years I'm a fan of Skallagrim thank you that's a hell of a compliment
I've had that CRKT in the top left for a few years I don't carry it everyday because Its hard to get your hand in your pocket with it clipped but that knife is awesome.
Have you ever handled a Kershaw Overdrive OD-1 (1775)? It's been discontinued for a bit, but has an interesting take on the flipper geometry. The lever is a separate piece that is set up so the action is 1:2. That is to say that the flipper must move 90 degrees to fully flip the blade 180 degrees. The lever tucks away neatly in the handle, and there really is no way to get a half flip because of that. It's on the cheaper end of kershaw, but I love the design on it. As an aside, I've been considering a ZT 0450cf for EDC. Judging by you holding the larger brother I think that the smaller one may be just the thing. Any thoughts on that knife?
Mittens the meme I got into his vids thru balisongs and come to find out in the last couple months a lot has changed for the better I live in Michigan too
Howdy Lugermonger. Been watching you for a while now, I made a response video regarding my Sheepdog.. figured it might be worth a watch. I don't do TH-cam just yet, I'm slowly getting into it.
Youth Numismatics I've only had one in the store but seems like a good choice for semi gentleman's type folder The Flipper action work very well I remember it being very Snappy I was impressed for how small The Flipper tab was
Lord Gaben I actually like the looks I can see it being a love it or hate it kind of thing but it looks good I've never experienced one personally it is a very inexpensive knife so I don't imagine it's the upmost quality but I have a lot of respect for the Cold Steel company so if anyone is going to make a good cheap knife they may definitely be the ones to do it
Ace Savage the one on the top right is a Boker plus Todd Begg field Marshal but I think you may mean the one on the top left looks more like a switchblade it's a crkt M16-13SFG
Lugermonger cool, that's why I thought it looked alittle familiar! How is it over all? I have a few Boker', I like how a lot of their blades look but, unfortunately, they are known for bad lock geometry and get lock-rock in most of their knives.
Justin Gabor I did actually have a problem with the lock being able to disengage from a spinal tap it was because the lock face got round It Off I took it apart and flattened it back down it has worked great ever since but honestly this field Marshal is huge big and heavy and all dimensions but because of that it's something I think can be used for hours comfortably I have got a video up on the field Marshal check it out if you're interested
Darkarmess I did not know that that sucks but it makes sense it doesn't make sense that automatic sorry we go here while flippers are I prefer it this way but it still doesn't make sense
After watching this 9 minute vid I'm even more confused about what ever it is he was attempting to explain but I still don't know what it was he was trying to explain to us other than learning that these blades are called flippers. Lol
is that a vape? lol well that's good that you don't smoke cigs any more. congrats but the vape isn't that much worse than cigs. I've never smoked any thing or done any other drugs besides my, non literal, addiction to monster energy drinks. lol good on you to stop smoking cigs though.
clicked this vid cause i saw my crkt in the thumbnail. Didnt realise i was gonna get a 3rd grade physics leason that was way longer than it needed to be...
It's like shoes or handbags for women. Don't you have several already? No, they are all different lol
Ruji Yu yes it's the same thing I have got a lot of respect for women with handbag collections or anyone with shoes 5 years ago I did not but now I get it
True that
@@Lugermonger35 I tried to explain this to my parents they said no to me biuying my 19th knife
lmao
@@wolfin9717 I'd be concerned about you biting a knife too
Isn't the karambit supposed to be opened from a pocket?

just wanted to take a moment to say the three people who dislike this video are absolutely wrong. This is pure gold. Genius sir!

@@fishedhook2697 who asked for urs?

nanoman172 im just thinking about what would be if penguins actually had switchblades
I didn’t know penguins collected knives
The crkt is one of my favorites... Big, bad ass knife that can be drawn in pocket...

Yes sir...it just makes sense. Knives with flipper tabs above the pivot will usually have a snappier and quicker action.
I spent like 20 minutes looking for a “Reich knife” before I realized what my problem was 😂😂
