Very interesting. Your X is a vision only model X (Hw4)? I'm in Fremont and tenpted to test it out (during the free trial period everyone just got), but the streets on this side of the bay are not marked as well as in the city.
Don't know about everyone else but I appreciate your commentary so much. Excellent job. I'm almost brokenhearted when you post the videos with just a music track and your explanation of what you are seeing with the car's behavior is missing!
The FSD v.12.3.6 drive quality looks superb. But there were no real limits tests here that demonstrated some phenomenal improvement or positive new behavior. Out here in the rural wilds of northern New England, I'm seeing FSD make remarkable improvements. At the same time, on a 500 mile rt to central Maine this weekend FSD (12.3.4) required two critical interventions: one of which for a one-lane road construction scenario that it handled well in the past; the second for bad parking lot exit planning, then an attempted U-turn in a 4 lane intersection but not planning the turn radius well enough, set to impact sidewalks and light pole. Neither took place at high speed, reasonably clear anticipation of the FSD intervention about to become necessary.
I may disagree with being impatient when the car is driving on its own. I can understand the frustration when you are fully engaged in supervised mode, but not when it eventually reaches the unsupervised end goal for FSD. I used to travel on business frequently and had to deal with all types of cab and limo drivers (some were so bad that they had no business driving at all). I’m willing to take a few minutes longer by an autonomous car if I can feel comfortable enough to ignore its actions and spend my time working in the back seat and not be concerned about what is going on around the car. Thanks for your great videos!!! 😊😊😊
Thanks for the vid. One question: how are you able to operate FSD without touching the steering wheel? In my car I’m required to apply slight pressure or I’ll be locked out.
In our industry there is a triangle which says Safety, Journey, Speed which also is applicable to FSD, you can’t speed up without reducing journey experience, as well as for Safety you need to be slower which also will may be not the best journey experience, so bottom line it is a balancing act on the above three elements which we should accept as FSD.
Thanks for the post. I'm curious why you never have to touch the steering wheel. We have the latest FSD software, but ours requires you to touch the steering wheel often.
Great video! FSD 12.3.6 looks amazing! This is the first time I've seen your channel, and I just subscribed to your channel and liked this video. One question... FSD stops at least one complete car length before the stopped car in front of it. This is not normal, at least on the East Coast. Please comment on this point. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I have a question. What if you had 10 Tesla cars with FSD with the same navigation target... Would they all drive in the exact same way or can it "think different" in each car?
I noticed at round the 8:30 mark of the video, the car was driving at 30mph whilst it had just gone past a max speed 25 sign (and had that depicted in the dash, so knew about it). Is that a setting you can make in FSD that allows it to go slightly above the limit and could you therefore not allow the car to do so? What would trigger the car to do so there rather than anywhere else, where it tended to stay under?
Looks great. Do you not have to touch the steering wheel once in a while? I didn't see it bug you to do it. I have problems with school zones, left turns, and construction. Please show us more of the problem areas. School zones with children present is a big problem in my 12.3.4. I hope they fix it. Thanks.
Amazing! Very safe and smooth. I cannot wait for it to be legal in Europe, but at the current prices, I will pass. It is not a private chauffeur or robotaxi that will get you home from a party when you have had one too many. You have to be alert to not get killed. Unless the prices come down, I will spend my money on a top-of-the-line professional camera that I for years have considered too expensive, which is still way cheaper than FSD. Billionaires don’t seem to grasp what ordinary people can afford. At least in the US, the prices have come down, which is a good thing. I look forward to seeing the future here in Europe too (I don't understand why it is illegal as the driver is still the fallback).
For the robotaxi, I wonder if it is able to recognize a low battery and then drive itself to the nearest supercharger while sending a message to the owner. It should have the ability to determine if the battery level is not enough for the next trip, it would drop itself from ride availability. Later, the car would be able to charge itself without having a person to physically plug in the charging handle.
It would be good if you also mention at the beginning of your drive what mode you have selected (incl acceleration and minimal lane changes). This will be helpful for new users watching.Thx!
Do you notice hard braking when the light turns yellow and it's somewhat close to the line? Humans would just continue and even v11 did that but V12 slams on the brakes for me. Sometimes it does coast through but it very quickly taps in the brakes then goes. So I'm curious
14:07 this is the reason why V12 has been declared to be capable of driving in Europe too. Good reflexes and response time by the cpu and gpu are what is needed in Countries like Italy that have narrow streets and very unexpected behaviors from the other drivers. Bravo to the Tesla AI team, hope to see this software running in UE soon, as we heard from the latest news.
Does FSD have a pre-training step where it simply predicts the next video frame? So they could do massive unsupervised training similar to how LLMs so it. Then a post/training alignment step to make it learn the desired driving style?
I have never heard anyone describing how Tesla AI works exactly. I have only seen its “dreams” - in the form of video frames predicting the future. But I recall a Tesla employee describing the goal of user experience in the future. You would suppose to be able to enter some kind of learning mode. Then you drive manually for some time. And AI learns your habits. Then, when FSD is turned on, it will use this data to better match your expectations and your driving style.
Every Tesla has TWO copies of the FSD HARDWARE computer (cpu, memory, double inputs…) It does this for more reliable FSD output. However: Often it will make use of this when the driver is NOT using FSD….. the car will use the SECOND (unused) system in SHADOW mode to make predictive decisions and then COMPARE them to what the HUMAN driver is actually doing…. The car can then upload this data if FSD notices discrepancies, along with compressed video data…. Somehow DOJO uses this to train on.
I think FSD waiting for the guy who wasn't on his bike is a weird one. The guy could have walked the bike so in an extreme case, FSD was right to wait.
I wonder if it learned something from that car making a u-turn, so it will detect and react sooner. It's crazy how it not only sees everyone, but also predicts their behavior.
I don’t agree with the commentator stating it needs to take better action at speed and not pause for surroundings. That’s the point of FSD. Take the human emotion out of it. Nice work Tesla!
Hi love your videos ❤. Could you have FSD visualization on the large screen rather than the map navigation, watching FSD visuals would be more interesting on the larger screen. Regards Tony
Nope, nothing on the visualisation about the parked van. What looks to have happened was it didn't want to enter the intersection if it couldn't clear it. It held back because the car in front braked in the intersection and then once the lead car continued it had enough confidence it wouldn't be blocking the intersection. The gap created from that delay was then just a nice coincidence to let the car on the right in.
Why is it that you don’t ever have to touch the steering wheel to show you are still paying attention? Do you have a different setting or something for that?
You know FSD is improving when we've gone from running stop signs, driving in bus lanes and hard braking for no reason, to now only critiquing the safety judgements of the FSD "driver".

Thanks for uploading the new version video so quickly.
Dang, the number of 12.3 point update releases are crazy!! Can’t wait to see where we are even in a month or two
Thanks for the vid. One question: how are you able to operate FSD without touching the steering wheel? In my car I’m required to apply slight pressure or I’ll be locked out.
Super Kool ....
_NO INTERVENTION DRIVE_
Feels like we're getting close!
It would be interesting to see the reaction of a qualified driving examiner and get him/her to 'test’ the car
For is old guys this is amazing.
Thanks, Omar! Could you provide some quantifiable rating system to these updates (even if subjective)? Thx again!
Thanks for the post. I'm curious why you never have to touch the steering wheel. We have the latest FSD software, but ours requires you to touch the steering wheel often.
I was wondering the same, but I assume he is touching the steering wheel with his knee.
@@rjdverbeek He has a loop-hole (I believe he has it on 'Elon mode', which doesn't give the nag).
Thank you!
Incredible
Thanks for the video. I have a question. What if you had 10 Tesla cars with FSD with the same navigation target... Would they all drive in the exact same way or can it "think different" in each car?
I noticed at round the 8:30 mark of the video, the car was driving at 30mph whilst it had just gone past a max speed 25 sign (and had that depicted in the dash, so knew about it). Is that a setting you can make in FSD that allows it to go slightly above the limit and could you therefore not allow the car to do so? What would trigger the car to do so there rather than anywhere else, where it tended to stay under?
Amazing!
Awesome !! I think I'll come to America with my Tesla 3 Long Range just to try out the FSD. Unfortunately still blocked in Switzerland 😓😓
Looks great. Do you not have to touch the steering wheel once in a while? I didn't see it bug you to do it. I have problems with school zones, left turns, and construction. Please show us more of the problem areas. School zones with children present is a big problem in my 12.3.4. I hope they fix it. Thanks.
FSD is very polite, letting other cars in.
Or he could have decided to just walk in front of the car
I wonder if it learned something from that car making a u-turn, so it will detect and react sooner. It's crazy how it not only sees everyone, but also predicts their behavior.
There is no learning at the car level, if that s what you re wondering.
@@lucadellasciucca967actually they are using video training now that will teach the car how to recognize everything
Let's GO !!!
I don’t agree with the commentator stating it needs to take better action at speed and not pause for surroundings. That’s the point of FSD. Take the human emotion out of it. Nice work Tesla!
This was a great video. Thanks. Could you do more routes that include Bus Only lanes?
What mount is that your using? I know there will never be an answer but worth a shot!
Hi love your videos ❤. Could you have FSD visualization on the large screen rather than the map navigation, watching FSD visuals would be more interesting on the larger screen. Regards Tony
You can’t change that on the model s/x. It only displays visualizations on the driver screen
@@ianmilham7397 thanks for clarifying
8:05 did it slow down to let the car on the right have space to get in, seeing there was a van stopped ahead of it down the road?
Nope, nothing on the visualisation about the parked van. What looks to have happened was it didn't want to enter the intersection if it couldn't clear it. It held back because the car in front braked in the intersection and then once the lead car continued it had enough confidence it wouldn't be blocking the intersection. The gap created from that delay was then just a nice coincidence to let the car on the right in.
Yes makes sense
Interesting near the 12:00 mark that it went straight through a couple right turn only lanes. Or did I see/interpret that wrong?
If the development of the FSD goes like this, I can send you shopping soon
Thank you for the video. I wish you a nice day...
I wonder if you're running emulation on HW4. If so it could improve further with native software! I'm very excited to get 3.6
ok, running that yellow light was awesome...i know that the previous version would've stopped.
How do you remove hand-holds on the steering to prevent the nags?
What happens when it’s raining heavily and the auto wipers don’t wipe and clear the camera vision? This happens to me in the UK constantly.
Could you test in construction zones, traffic circles, parking lots and automatic gates? These are the areas that I have had to intervene.
upvoted!!!!!
Thanks for the nicely done video. I would rather see the car path view on the left rather than the turn by turn directions. Thanks.
Why is it that you don’t ever have to touch the steering wheel to show you are still paying attention? Do you have a different setting or something for that?
I love it also.
