Key's whole concept for his last trilogy of comebacks, "Bad Love", "Gasoline" (although with Gasoline the title track itself wasn't super retro but majority of the bsides were!) & now "Killer", has been 80s/early 90s retro! Down to his album packaging looking like VHS tapes, floppy disks, toy collectibles, SNES cartridges.. It's amazing how deeply he immerses himself, truly the king of concepts! Thank you for reacting to him!!
Key is part of the 5 member group called SHINee. They are a long lasting, 2nd gen group that debuted back in 2008. SHINee is legit my favorite kpop group of all time. Killer is the title track to the repackage/deluxe edition of his 2nd album Gasoline (you reacted to that title track from Key as well, actually). Key is also a fashion designer, actor, and variety show host. As a fashion director in SM, Key usually has a heavy hand in the concepts, fashion/costuming, and art direction for both his solo work and some of SHINee's work (in collaboration with the other members and other designers). The other members in SHINee also have vibrant and successful solo careers. You've reacted to a few SHINee songs on here. You've also reacted to his bandmate, Taemin, who released Advice. SHINee is on hiatus for group activities right now while the youngest member, Taemin, finishes his military service but he will be finished early April of this year, just in time for SHINee's 15th anniversary. In the meantime, his older brothers are focused on their solo careers. Now, back to Key. He's officially the Lead Rapper, Lead Dancer, and a Lead/Sub Vocalist in SHINee. He's considered a true All Rounder in kpop terms, meaning he can do any skill/position in the group. Although, to be fair, the SHINee kpop "positions" don't matter much anymore since they've all grown so much in their artistry over the last 15 years that they can all do any of the positions as needed for a song or performance. Key's 1st LP album prior to Gasoline and Killer is called Face and he also has two EPs called Hologram and Bad Love. Bad Love was genuinely one of my favorite albums released in 2021. Not just kpop, but in general. You should absolutely check out the two title track MVs from that album: "Hate That..." feat. Taeyeon of Girl's Generation and "Bad Love." From Key's Face album (and repackage), there is "One of Those Nights" feat. Crush and and "I Wanna Be" feat. (G)I-dle's Soyeon. Both songs and MVs make for good reactions. For SHINee group recs I'm going to rec some lives as well as MVs. Try reacting to Symptoms, 1 of 1, Countless, Sleepless Night, Dear Name (cover of an IU song).
People have been sleeping on Key for close to 15 years now because his main group is just that stacked with talent. But his solo discography is impeccable, no skips on the B-tracks, and he's finally getting his dues. It's funny that you were talking about how big this music video was, because of his 3 'retro' releases, this was the least ambitious - he really blew the budget on the first two lmao.
Key is my Shinee bias! I love his/their stuff so much. As a baby Shawol (shinee fan) I've been having a fun time discovering their discography this past year.
Key has always been a major force within the group SHINee but only recently been doing more solo work. His military service is behind him & he has some well deserved clout within the SM family. Every SHINee member has done spectacular solo work. They are one of the PREMIERE groups in the industry. Key & SHINee are well worth a deeper dive. Check out some of their LIVE concerts! Best vocals in KPOP on stage without all the background noise.
I loved the way he did this song -- retro vibes and his voice and passion and dancing is so great on this / his fashion is so right for each piece of this video/ He just released an mv called Easy that is so haunting and smooth -- I really love the song Easy. Key is so talented, can't wait for him and the rest of the members of SHINee are together again in a month or so when Taemin is released from the military.
yes.. when I first heard the into. no cap. started singing "she's a maniac Fyi: he is a Shinee member. As for other music check out Hate that, Gasoline, Valian and Bad Love. His first album is called Face.
He knew we needed that bit of silence at the end just to absorb the PHENOMENAL fabulousness we just experienced. As an 80s kid (‘81), this slays every bit of nostalgia heaven for me. I haven’t found ANYONE that slays this genre like Kibum/Key. Sure, there are those who do a good job, but Kibum OWNS this concept. He doesn’t just emulate the era-he drags it into the present and makes it HIS. I’ve been listening/watching to this nonstop since premiere and the whole album will be on repeat for the foreseeable future. Btw, this is the third installment of his trilogy… “Bad Love”, “Gasoline”, and “Killer”. You think the MV is cool?! You should see the FIVE versions of this album…and the multiple versions of the other albums. Space Ray Guns, VHS Tape packaging, Floppy Disk packaging, Cassette Tape for the QR code album, Video Game Case packaging, and one that looks like an OG TV Screen with interchangeable images to place in the front. He’s been working on this concept nearly fifteen years and he fought tooth and nail to see it brought to life the way he wanted. The other MVs are just as freaking EPIC. Like I said, NO ONE does this concept like him. Kibum (stage name Key) debuted in 2008 with the legendary Princes of KPOP, SHINee (consisting of Jinki (stage name Onew), Jonghyun, Kibum (Key), Minho, and Taemin). Key is a force to be reckoned with…an immense talent who was the only person selected out of 8000 when he auditioned. He’s a true all-rounder and I’m thrilled you’re enjoying his music! Hope to see more SHINee reactions from you (as a group and five soloists…in fact, SHINee is the *ONLY* kpop group to have every member reach #1 on Worldwide iTunes as soloists). Some more info on Key (Kim Kibum - 23 Sep 1991): he wears many hats (both literally and figuratively) - he’s a Vocalist, Dancer, Rapper, and Official Fashion Designer for SM Entertainment. Shawol Fandom Name-Lockets (he’s our Key). Kibum also calls us Lil Freaks (inspired by Lady Gaga’s lil monsters…he’s our Captain Freak). Kibum is also an actor, former fashion editor for ELLE Korea, MC, and has a skincare line with Youlief entitled “Face” and a collaboration with the cosmetics line Espoir. He’s a longtime cast member of the weekly show, “Amazing Saturday”, is currently a member of the “I Live Alone” television series, and is an accomplished stage actor. Furthermore, he is known as one of the best-dressed men in Korea and began designing SHINee‘s concert attire in 2015 and also works on his solo work designs for himself and his backup dancers. Kibum is constantly going viral for something, randomly appears on the news, and has been memed multiple times. In fact, one of his viral memes from years ago recently turned into a real-life endorsement with McDonald’s! Shawol was recently blessed with the release of his highly-anticipated repackage: “KILLER”, which is (unsurprisingly) slaying the industry! What else should we expect from our all-rounder KEY-LLER, though?!
This solo act from Key and his group is SHINee with 5 members, they are Onew, Key, Minho, Jonghyun and Taemin that I think you ever react to his mv too. You can check more of SHINee performance/mv also for each members has their solo song too :)
The teasers and album packaging all look like technology and video games from the early Nintendo days. Key is really a genius in being involved in the smallest details of his comeback. A reunited SHINee album is expected out this year too.
Everything you see and hear with "Killer" has Key's signature stamp on it. It's his title track from his repackaged album, which is a follow up to his previous "Gasoline" MV and album. And you're right, there is a lot more to the story. To see more of the story you have to check out his other MVs, such as "Gasoline" (which I think you have already seen), "Bad Love" and "Hate That ...", etc. From his outfits to the backup dancers looks, to the set design and story concept, as well as the song lyrics, and the whole album -- including the album packaging -- was designed or chosen by him. Key is involved in the entire creative process when it comes to his solo work and everything you see and hear is what he envisioned for this entire album/repackage concept. Every aspect is all part of his design. Key said his style is more like retro '80s/'90s MTV, so that's the treatment they used to come up with his solo concepts and styles. So far, the retro aesthetic is the look and feel he has had for all of his solo MVs and albums. And he has only dove in deeper with the retro concept after he came back from the military. Since gaining artistic control of his solo releases with his "Bad Love" album, he has been building a whole world based on retro sci-fi TV shows/movies and comics, etc. Therefore, at least his solo storyline could very well be connected between his MVs. When it comes to Key's solo stuff, you never have to question who was the stylist because I guarantee that it will always be him. Key is our fashionista of the group, who is SHINee's designer for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He has even been given the official title as SM's Director of Fashion, and he is often consulted on fashion trends when it comes to SM projects. He has gained a reputation for his fashion, so he is involved in all aspects of the styling for everything he does these days. He would never just passively stand by and allowed someone else to tell him what to wear. :D And because Key was involved in creating the storyline for his MV, he was also involved in the whole look and feel, including clothing choices and costume design. I can see how you might think Key is harkening back to Michael Jackson with his "Thriller" reference and the one glove, etc. However, I don't think the one glove, etc. has any real symbolic significance beyond the fact that it was a style choice that Key made because he is always on trend, if not one step ahead, with everything he does. I'm sure the main reason he made the choices he did was because he thought it looked cool and went well with the aesthetic of the outfits he was wearing, as well as fit within the retro style of the whole project. (Wearing one glove doesn't always have to mean that that person is trying to be like MJ, Michael just started a fashion trend that happens to still be cool today.) When people say, "there is no one or nothing out there like it," they are right. Key is 100% that artist. A legend on par with Taemin's legendary concepts and styles. No wonder they are both members of SHINee. As you are starting to discover, SHINee are known for having some of the best singers in all of Kpop. If you were to listen to Key singing a cappella while performing this intense choreograph for "Killer", he would sound just as flawless as in the MV. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive and nobody was performing the way SHINee was doing it. When SHINee debuted in 2008, all the members were teenagers -- Key was only 16 -- and they were one of the youngest groups at the time. However, even then, they were shocking everyone with their talent. SHINee was the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game. And although, as a member of SHINee, Key is considered one of the top vocalists in the industry, he is also a lead rapper. So he can literally do it all. Key is also considered SHINee's dance copy machine. He has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He has a photographic memory when it comes to choreography, so he only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is an unbelievably skilled dancer, who can take any dance and make it his own. And on top of all that, he is SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. He is one of the best non-native English speakers in Kpop. In middle school he studied for a short time in Australia and New York, and he said his grandma had an English tutor when he was growing up, so he is fluent in western culture. SHINee are always on another level and they are constantly outdoing themselves with every new project. It amazes me after more than 14 years that SHINee can still continue to reinvent the Kpop industry with every new release, whether it's as a group project or one of the member's solos, and yet they do it every time without fail. SHINee are the originators and trendsetters of everything you see Kpop groups doing today. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to create the trend. With every new song and dance SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never see the exact same style or sound from them in any of their songs or dances. Nothing you hear from them or the members' solos will ever be exactly like anything you have ever seen or heard before, and yet it will be very much "their style." The members of SHINee raise the bar even higher with every performance. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D Now you have to check out Key's dance practices for "Gasoline," "Villain (ft. Jeno from NCT-Dream)" and "Killer." As the title of the song indicates, this choreography is killer and when you see it without any cuts or edits you will die. LOL If you enjoyed "Killer" just wait until you hear his other solo songs, such as "Bad Love", "Hate That ...", "Villain," etc. Key had his solo debut in 2018 and, including all his albums and repackages, this is Key's 5th solo album. There is a lot more to check out from him, as well as SHINee.
You've reacted to Key's title track, Gasoline, when that came out last year. The sound of Gasoline and Killer are pretty different. But Key, like all members of SHINee, likes to experiment.
Shinee key he is workin in the industry since 2008 Shinee is a gp of 5 debuted on 25 may 2008 react to their work in chronology u ii love them they have different genre in every comeback
Totally 80’s vibe! That era was my 20’s (yes I’m just a little older than you 😉) Flash dance was the first thing that popped into my mind when I first listened to it too. Key gave us another great song. He does love the 80’s music. Key doesn’t get as much recognition or awards as he deserves. Check out Gasoline, Bad Love, Hate That, Wanna Be, One of Those Nights.
As others mentioned, he’s part of SHINee with Taemin, Minho, Onew, and Jonghyun who I hope is resting in peace. If you ever need a good laugh(now that’s a bad segue) watch videos of Key and Minho. They are close friends, complete opposites, and bicker all the time.
I'm not sure if you've reacted to SHINee before but Key is part of that group along with Taemin, Onew, Minho and Jonghyun (RIP) and IMO the group has an old school vibe to them a lot of their music feels very nostalgic, they have been active since 2008 often referred to as the Princes of Kpop
I can not believe you guys recommended so many korean songs and groups but not FTisland!! please check FTisland Pray, Take me now and Wind.. are amazing songs. the lead has a beautiful raspy voice
He is my shinee bias he is number 1 bias and taemin is my second bias , key's style is what I love he has that nostalgic retro vibe in his songs ,he is amazing ❤️ different and unique

100% 80’s inspired. A lot of Key’s music has this feel.
First time hearing this performer and can't wait for more.👏👏👏👏
🔥🔥 Key is awesome!

I'm pretty sure you'd love "Bad love", another of his songs which was one of my favourites last year !!
Oh total 80s pop vibe. The beat gives me serious A-HA vibes. Which, if you’ve never seen their Take On Me video, you really have to.
Key is phenomenal 🤍
Oh this got me so much "Take on me" from AHA. It was my youth

If you wanna check out something "huge" - you definitely have to see Gasoline!
You should check out his group SHINee 🔥💎❤️
♥️
As others mentioned, he’s part of SHINee with Taemin, Minho, Onew, and Jonghyun who I hope is resting in peace. If you ever need a good laugh(now that’s a bad segue) watch videos of Key and Minho. They are close friends, complete opposites, and bicker all the time.
Key
Bad love, Another life, Bound, Gasoline, Hate that you're happy ft Taeyeon
🔥🔥🔥
Key from SHINee❤️
I'm not sure if you've reacted to SHINee before but Key is part of that group along with Taemin, Onew, Minho and Jonghyun (RIP) and IMO the group has an old school vibe to them a lot of their music feels very nostalgic, they have been active since 2008 often referred to as the Princes of Kpop
I believe you may reacted to Shinee Key's Gasoline. If not, you should
His past 2 albums are perfect 80s sounds, very synth pop. Love it. Bound is probably my fav track of his it is very Depeche Mode but make it kpop.
I can not believe you guys recommended so many korean songs and groups but not FTisland!!
please check FTisland Pray, Take me now and Wind.. are amazing songs. the lead has a beautiful raspy voice
His younger brother is the infamous Korean Michael Jackson.
You reached to Gasoline by Key not long ago. Lol🤣
Our retro king❤pls react to SHINee! Their live vocals are insane🎉
you should react to more SHINee. :) And SHINee solos.
He is my shinee bias he is number 1 bias and taemin is my second bias , key's style is what I love he has that nostalgic retro vibe in his songs ,he is amazing ❤️ different and unique
