Sin does bite, Jacob has a different plan than what really happened to his life, Jacob love Rachel and he like to marry Rachel, but because sin or the deceit he did to his brother Esau, he cannot complain about the deceit done by Laban unto him, so although he really love Rachel, Leah became the rightful wife. Leah was buried with Jacob, Leah’s descendant are the one where Jesus came from. Also the Bible said that Rachel has idols, the same idols that Laban was searching for and got missing and what Laban used as reason to pursue Jacob when Jacob and his families left Haran without telling Laban. Perhaps Rachel’s idolatry disqualifies her from becoming the rightful wife. Rachel was blessed but Leah got the best blessing.

Love you Doug and understand that you're neck-deep in the SDA religion which keeps you under the Law but I pray you find your freedom in Christ and spend more time in your gospel contained within the Pauline epistles. The Sabbath is not and never has been a part of the gospel delivered to Paul by the ascended Christ which we know no longer in the flesh. Salvation is a work of God yet more than that, salvation is solely a work of God. Assurance of salvation is possible only if salvation is a work of God alone. If salvation depended upon man’s ability, assurance of salvation would require answering two questions: 1. What works are necessary to meet God’s approval for righteousness? 2. How many works are necessary? No one can answer the above questions therefore assurance of salvation is impossible if salvation depends in any part on a person’s works or good deeds. However, if salvation depends on the work of God and Christ crucified, one can have assurance of salvation.
