People are missing so many deep features of this game. Like the storm causing you to catch air off the tops of the waves and crash into the water taking damage, you can demast enemy ships, their are tons of modifiers on the upgraded weapons that cause flooding, fire, etc damage types, theres crew attacks like firing muskets or throwing molotovs, there's voiced over notes you can find around the map that lead you down cool side quests, theres merchant convoys that have a full holy trinity of tank heals and dps that make for a serious challenge, theres sea monsters, whales that breach out in front of your ship, the helm supply and demand missions can lead to insane chase sequences being followed by fleets looking for your goods(they increase in difficulty the more you carry) and more. There is a ton being overlooked cuz people are being rubbed the wrong way by ubisofts vibe and they are overlooking ALL of the games features, it is kinda blowing my mind.
They promised us black flag 2, you can dress it up with a million things but if I can't just jump off that ship anywhere I want and go explore then I ain't interested
Agreed the later levels with rum and opium running are quite fun. I'm having to fend of waves of privateers trying to plunder my booty and I can try to outrun them but sometimes you gotta have a stand up fight. Then the pillaging is fun and I had a real time event of a dutch convoy of goodies come through and I wasn't strong enough to take them and got smashed up, then had to respawn to try and recover my lost treasure as I learned from experience that if you die before you get it then you lose it all. Feels like a lot of people played the beta for a few hours and that was it and then shit on it.
So last night I had the idea to set my console location to New Zealand and I played for nearly 12 hours straight and I’m chomping at the bit to get back on. I could see myself grinding this game for hours and hours. Unfortunately I have work and a few other games that I have commitments in. Trying to get all the career progress in gta and my online community farm.
Finally the unsteady sway of the decking beneath my feet. Pirates of the Burning Sea was the last sailing MMO I got into, this has more a Sea of Thieves feel though. Keeping my one Eye on this one (ARRH!!!!)
Not sure if I ever disliked a Ubisoft game..I haven't loved a ton..but I have really really liked a few.. generally they are really well made..I wish they would take some chances with some of their stories and really go for it sometimes..i played the first few hours of far cry 5 the other night. And the opening to that game was great..I was captivated. And then the next few hours going thru the world it felt kind of generic.. enjoyed the shit out of the ghost recon games.. particularly breakpoint and ac Odyssey was pretty damn good..thanks for the coverage..I'm definitely going to give it a go
Looking forward to specifically your review of this game, as you've laid light on a lot of shadowed games that get shit on heaps so very curious to see what end game is like and your thoughts.
Thanks a lot for this coverage. I must have watched a dozen videos on this game from ‘credible’ creators who just repeat the same disingenuous talking points. I’m so fed up of shallow comparisons to either Black Flag or Sea of Thieves. They never advertised the game as that, but players get so caught up in expectations of what they want that sometimes they just propagate false impressions. Not saying the game doesn’t have its flaws, but it’s getting so much unfair criticism.
Yours is the only review that I have so found anything halfway positive to say about this game. I have and I'm enjoying it so far. Yes there are a great number of things that could be better but equally it could be a lot worse. For me the standard of pirate game is AC4 Black Flag (not an intentional pirate game) and Sid Meier's Pirates! I think Skull & Bones borrows a little from each and while in ways it is inferior to black flag (long boat missions, boss sip fights, underwater levels) there is a lot to do and see. Some of the criticisms like auto or mini game harvesting is actually a good thing for me. I don't want to be casting off my anchor every 2 minutes to pick up loot and have to set sail for 10 seconds before doing it again. I didn't like Sea of Thieves for similar reasons as you have outlined but there is potential here and I hope that Ubisoft follow through and support this game for the next 5 years at least.
Skull and Bones has no Skull. It's simply a sea looters shooter, no storyline, no land exploration. Sink ships, get loot, sell loot, upgrade ship to rinse and repeat. This game, in my opinion, is not worth $70.00.
Exactly what Charliegoose said, nobody would want to do boarding and shipboard swordfights when there's 2 other enemy ships sinking you while you're doing that.
I dont get why the colors look better in everyone elses gameplay. Mine feels so washed out. I wish the ubisoft devs would stop doing these grey filters over everything.... just let the world be vibrant. Also you describe the plunder as being super fun... but when I did it it was boring. You just sit still and shoot stuff with healthbars.... it wasnt even hard. They send like 1 ship, maybe 2... and you melt them without even thinking.
I was expecting black flag 2 because thats what they said they were doing, not this sodding ship simulator, i want to be a pirate and explore land, find treasure, fight on land and the ocean, i wanted black flag 2, this is the biggest disappointment of 2024, i actually went out and bought the original black flag because after playing the beta i needed to 😒
nothing has changed since the open beta they gave us access to the full game, with a level cap and it seems like you level fast end game will take less than 5 days better off getting helldivers 2

I agree I think the game is awesome lol I didn't expect black flag so I enjoy it

Yup

Tried the beta and pre-ordered when it ended. Loads of fun and I suspect it will keep me entertained for a good while.

Assassin's creed Black flag is the best pirate game, still play it now

Thank you for your objective opinion on Skull and Bones.
People are expecting Eve online but ocean format. 😂😂
I want to fire boards at ships to heal them. Lol
NOT BOARDING FIGHT, NOT BUYING IT.

But its a „AAAA“ Game 😂 so it Must be worth more
another great overview. thanks scarlet.
Still Ubislop
looks fun to me
It is. It’s better than I expected
Heard nothing but bad things, but I'm hooked!
They could have used the boarding and combat mechanics from AC Odyssey or Black Flag. This is pure laziness from the Devs.
Exactly what Charliegoose said, nobody would want to do boarding and shipboard swordfights when there's 2 other enemy ships sinking you while you're doing that.
It isnt that simple, multiplayer, even without pvp makes that hard af.
If this game was 15-25 dollars it would be acceptable
Have you seen/felt the LOD distances for trees and vegetation in this game? It is dishearteningly embarrassing.
Yo is that an NZ accent I hear?
Do I want to spend $70 on it?
Absolutely not.
@@TRIBULXTIONS hmm, am I sure?
@@Sov-Ryn15you actually want to spent 100$ on this
@@wookieepolice8085 I said $70, but not really. Fun game but not worth the price.
i love this game
I love this game 💙

I will wait till this game is free. Its the worst pirate game i ever played its a pirate ship looter shooter that is it rinse and repeat.
It is fun but also annoying so many mechanics don’t make sense
I was expecting black flag 2 because thats what they said they were doing, not this sodding ship simulator, i want to be a pirate and explore land, find treasure, fight on land and the ocean, i wanted black flag 2, this is the biggest disappointment of 2024, i actually went out and bought the original black flag because after playing the beta i needed to 😒

I buyed the two of them, and sincerely? I have passed thrice the time on Skull and Bones.
Different game cause one is actually a finished product
not much PVP turned me off
