One thing I forgot to really talk about is blocking...you don't ever really need to block (holding down middle mouse button) as parrying will almost always be better to use. The only case where I can see blocking useful is if you're going for the other skills like dreadnaught and trying to "zerk wall" (hold a spot) and not let anything get through a doorway, which is super situational and only works on a handful of maps.
I always believed you could control the swing of your weapon's direction whether it be sideways or a head smash, but I didn't realise it was connected to your movement keys, thank you so much for pointing out what half other guides kept not mentioning 😭 this is so crucial.
KF2 is a game that I always loved but couldn’t play in years because my old pc couldn’t run it properly. Just got back to the game and I love berserk! It’s really nice to see such a new guide with with so many good tips. Thank you very much!
I actually upgraded the fire axe and just at the first to second upgrade I got a pretty consistent and high stun rate. Even if the damage is slightly to be desired it still proved really useful. Especially when stunning the chainsaw enemy and other bigger targets. You also forgot the unique ability of the shield mace. The shield bash. It has a test in the shop pointing out the shield bash does great damage. It's usually the V button. Or just the alt attack. It's a fun attack to abuse.
I use the same perk loadout but my weapon choices are Hemoclobber, Static Striker (upgraded) and one Piranha Pistol. When I get to the boss I sell Static and buy a 2nd Piranha (max upgrade) and some c4. The Static Striker is great against Flesh Pounds and Scrakes.
Imo Sickle is A tier if you know how to handle the “unique” swing hitboxes. Choosing between Massacre and Smash depends on the weapon in fact the sickle especially benefits more from massacre then smash
Blood sickle is a beast weapon especially if you unfold the blade its heavy attacks are the best crowd control melee weapon because it has the longest and widest range of melee swing. whenever I do heavy attacks I use the heavy canceling spam and my problem with dealing husk, bloat and siren almost gone
My go to weapons are Zweihander and Battleaxe, I pair dreadnought with berserker rage since most S/HoE teams I play with have at least one commando for stalker spotting and zed time juggling
Me playing this with my friends for the first time: Friend: "Damn... that is a lot of zeds let's try to-, wait where is our skully?" Me, the Scully: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA! FEEL THE MIGHT OF THE ION THRUSTER FUCKERS!"
I sorta agree and disagree with the tierlist for weapons you've made, but you did say you didnt experiment much with other weapons. Though i wanna talk about 2 melee's specifically: -The Blood Sickle has the biggest range of all melee's (and anything that has a melee attack). Its super good for trash clearing due to its massive range and damage that is comparable to the battleaxe (without being so obnoxiously slow). Its main drawback is what you mentioned though, and its the janky hitboxes (you have to aim somewhere on the right under the swing's vfx to actually land headshots for the most part and get the second hit to hit aswell. otherwise the second hit sometimes completely misses like for example when you slice smth with the first hit and second hit is reserved for a nearby siren). If you can get used to these dogshit visuals, this weapon wrecks from my experience. also, there is absolutely ZERO REASON to use the short range mode, you always want the long range mode, its just a no brainer pick between those two (Long range increases damage, range but slows down swing speed to a still acceptable level) -The Static Strikers are amazing. Very quick to spam forward heavy and cancel it to redo it again, EMP's the zed you hit preventing them from doing special attacks, and the back heavy is also incredibly fast to spam with. Its very easy to land headhits with it, however the problem with that melee for me is, any side swings feel just garbage. You can use them, sometimes they work flawlessly, but for the most part from my experience, their range is so short that youll just wish you had a different trash clearer when big swarms approach you from slightly other directions than just the very front. Its main drawbacks are the mentioned range, side swings being mediocre or worse than mediocre, and how incredibly loud they are when you anim cancel for best dps. Both of these weapons are very strong and i wish more people used them, especially the blood sickle, however i understand why they dont (Ion thruster exists, and so does the bone crusher) In the right hands both of these can shine. Id put them in the A tier, unless you get really good at them, then both deserve S tier. And a small sidenote: The worst part of the bonecrusher for me is the fact how the front heavy swing has misleading visuals. Everything else is okay but i hate that part (you have to aim with the end of the shield instead of the mace itself, and theres also that your vision gets obstructed with that weapon at certain times so you may not see some trash enemies coming in from the left. The block/parry power and resist is incredible, and the ability to block/parry projectiles aswell. Edit: The crovel's back swing can be useful for getting rid of crawlers, or landing a hit on E-DAR's weakspot on the chest (sounds kinda weird but it does work for me more often than not) Also, a question: Whats this test map called? Id appreciate a link to it if possible, or at least the name of it on the workshop
And a second small question: Is there a way to see the exact trajectory of each melee's swings? I remember seeing some video or screenshots for kf1's and l4d2's melee trajectories. Im asking about this specifically cuz of that goofy ahh blood sickle hitbox
@@Raviness. Thanks for the long comment lol, interesting to read. And the test map was named "Hyperbolic Test Chamber" on the workshop, in the menu in game it might be called KF-HTC. And for hitboxes there might be a console command for that, otherwise I don't really know myself, I mean you can already see the swing trajectory on some weapons with the blue slash, but for a proper one I wouldn't know.
@@Jmod8 Yeah, sorry for the long read, but I cant really express the whole thing in much less text I feel Thanks for the map name though Good guide all around As for the melee hitboxes, the visuals do tell somewhat where the hitboxes are, but they are not accurate (Blood sickle, Katana, Ion thruster for me, and the Static strikers side swings as example, or the forward heavy of the bone crusher)
The test map at the end? It's called "Hyperbolic Test Chamber" on the workshop, and pretty sure it's called "KF-HTC" in the menu in game. They just recently changed the name for some reason.
Not sure why I didn't see this comment earlier, sorry for being a month late. But if you haven't found it yet it's called "Hyperbolic Test Chamber" or KF-HTC.
To spam parry you need to press Heavy Attack and Parry simultaneously. Edit: not just heavy attacks but melee bash also works maybe light attacks too (not recommended)
The Devs have said finding out the boss before the wave is an exploit so if you're playing as intended you can only really switch to a ranged zerker option.
How to use the boss command and not play the exact same way every game (boring) Open console command (~) Type in: getall kfgamereplicationinfo bossindex The only thing you need is the number at the end. The character/outfit is just DJ Scully with 3 accessories for the head. Sorry I can't remember exactly, but I'm wearing a hood, goggles, and a Russian mask I believe. I had to clip them with console commands in order to get them to all work in the head slot, which you can only do on PC.
the steam guide made from a pro berserker shows clips of how he nearly oneshot fleshpounds and those chainsawbois, id guess that its an insane class for really killing even tho id also say that the more important role is the shield tank, by preference for melting the fleshies and chainsawbois its great
Dreadnought is far more better for survivability than skirmisher. Regenerating 1 point of health doesn't mean much when a large zed or siren can delete your entire healthbar in under 2 seconds. Dreadnought leaves time to gain distance and use a healing syringe. Overall more room for errors. I also go with Butcher over Vampire because Vampire is only good if you're running a all range berserker. Because trying to use vampire with only melee weapons? You're better off waiting for your healing syringes to recharge back. Though I can understand the logic of trying to run a range survivor berserker. Though problem is that one of your XP requires you to go up close to enemies. Also the Teslauncher is one of the best machine guns in the game. Does a whopping 69 damage per round and it shoots EMP grenades that's stronger than your regular EMP grenades. Great for stunning large zeds, sirens and EDARs. Used the gun as a Survivalist and I was laughing at a group of 4 quarterpounds and a scrake. Bone Crusher is basically the riot shield for berserker. Good if you're playing defense and probably a better weapon for new players. Though overall better as a defensive weapon than a offensive weapon.

Healing takes time being unarmed and you would want to be safe before doing so, not useful on restless situations
