Boards turned out better than I thought they would. I’m going to start sawing with my mill has soon as I get my loading winch mounted? Cool 32 degrees this morning and high around 70 low humidity. Nice milling weather can’t wait to get started. Thanks for sharing with us!
I just have to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I've been watching another sawyer's videos along with yours for a couple of years now. His channel is not as big as yours but as his channel has grown he's gotten so arrogant while you have stayed the same levelheaded guy. I appreciate that.
I watched a different guy today, don't know how old the video was, but watching it was like waiting for a train wreck to happen ....... I mean, I was waiting for him to either trip over debris and boards he left laying right where he had to walk to off load boards as he cut them, and half expected him to be impaled by the saw blade when it snapped.
Sounds like you are happy with your investment in your mill and the mill does pay for itself many times over! Also you got some nice lumber out of that log and it’s good to see you are enjoying the benefits of your mill and a little bit of sweat! Thanks for sharing your videos and God Bless
Your videos have been a Godsend during this stressful political situation. I have a big yard with lots of trees so always plenty to do, and with your lovely things to watch, life is good! Thank you so much!
Some times you don't appreciate how valuable your hard work is until you go to buy a board.Every once in a while I get lazy and go to town to buy a board for some quick project. Always come home with sticker shock, empty handed, and dig out what I need from the wood pile. I like to use those knotty logs for timbers, but those will be ok for fence boards
I'm actually super fascinated as to why these videos draw so much interest. I mean to say I can't stop clicking myself. Something about the massive scale and maybe element of danger? IDK, but I feel like I need to really look into this!
Well thanks to you and out of the woods i cut my first boards in 25 years Sunday. Man those old slabs are a little tuffer on ya after all those years. It’s not like riding a bicycle, it’s a perishable skill. Takes a little bit to get back in the swing of it.
Love your videos. I was watching some of your older videos and you recommended on one for me to watch Northwest Sawyer. Have to say you were spot on. I've been marathon watching his stuff for about 4 days now. Thanks
I hear that, during the pandemic I've started doing woodwork, I'm teaching myself from videos on TH-cam. Maybe one day I'll be able to do it for a living.
I'm in love with that machine too, hopefully I can get one in the future. The love for timber is something special I have to say. And on another topic, I'm amused by the fact that you look a bit, and sound like bubba sparks 😅 greetings from Romania 🖖
i am also infected, i cannot explain why i love timber, maybe become it is a natural product that reflect the sun, rain and many years to produce and the wood scent.
I really enjoyed this. I especially love how you bullied that log so mercilessly. I imagine this is how the Ents from Lord of the Rings roast each other.
Can you do a solar kiln update some time? I built one a few years ago as well, but love to see people's tips and tricks on how they run theirs. God bless!
Hey Chris, no plans for an update video right now. I'll tell you that it does a great job of drying lumber, but it is poorly designed. The side doors make it a back breaking ordeal to load it with lumber. If I ever do it again I'll probably use VA Tech's design.
What do you use for blade lube? I've seen several people using diesel fuel, some use windshield washer fluid. I can't see using fuel simply for the smell.
Mate who cares if you wear gloves or not.....It's your decision. The TH-cam police will just have to suck it up! Nice looking boards, thank you for the video. Be Safe and Take Care.
I've been wanting a good bandsaw mill for years but only could afford a chainsaw mill. I have been milling 4x4's for fence posts but I don't have a good place to dry. Think i should paint or use water sealer on them before i bury the fence post to keep them from rotting since they're green
Hi, love watching your vids. Do you do anything with the sawdust waste created? We use a wood burner and some bricks sold for burning are made from compacted sawdust.
I been milling older pines... man... some kind of boring bug just swiss cheeses my logs after sitting for a few months... seems to mostly be regular spruce and eastern white pine... they seem to pretty much leave my white and red cedars alone and blue spruces too.
Depends. I think he's going to use it for fencing, so he could use it right away. If for inside use, it should dry for a while. The rule of thumb is a year of air drying per inch of thickness. For outside use it can be used much sooner, if not immediately. Letting it dry will produce higher quality joints and stronger attachment points however.
It's nice that you have located a dependable source of lumber that was going to waste. A win for you, a win for the other guy, and a win for the environment. Not to mention a win for your subscribers. LOL
Might be ugly, but inside some lovely boards, beats cutting it up for firewood, never judge a book by its cover as the saying goes. Yes that woodmizer is worth its weight in gold. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
I use the standard WM double hard blades. They work pretty good. I use 10 degree for about everything. I have some 4 degree for hardwoods too. You'll have a blast with that mill! Congrats!
Beautiful cuts of wood as usual !! Do U run ur mill as a living or money on the side !! Also the lumber U just milled how long would it have to air dry before U could use it on ur remodel ?
A big plus in your favour - you do not continually beg for likes and subscribes with flashing bells and whistles as some do. Your presentation is all good with the right balance between yakking and working.
Thank you for using the correct terms and not talking down to us. When I use the word "can't" it's in a sentence to my wife explaining my inability to perform a household chore. You apparently use it in two ways: to describe the lever with the hook that you use to manipulate the log (also called a peavey, I believe), and to describe the slab of wood that has been cut square on all four sides. Also, I have a question: why doesn't the saw have a harder time cutting through the middle of a log (or sawing with lots of boards on top of the cut) than cutting off the top board?
No, I was trying to get 2 cants that were 5.5" wide, I had to cut that strip out to make it work. It just happened to be the middle that I took it out of.
I don't know about America but in England, the quality of the timber in the big box stores is terrible and even more expensive than the US, to get good grade timber you have to go to a sawmill. I had planned to build a new larger workshop but have had to put it on hold until the Kung Flu is over as the prices for materials are astronomical.

I am a huge music lover, but I really appreciate these videos with no music.
Always enjoy your videos. Trying to play catch up after losing power for almost a week. Stay safe and God Bless.
Enjoy watching you work. Miss my southern roots. Grew up in rural Florida pinewoods.
Great upload Wes! Some really nice boards from a knotty old Pine log! Hope you and yours are safe & well over there!
Sounds like you are happy with your investment in your mill and the mill does pay for itself many times over! Also you got some nice lumber out of that log and it’s good to see you are enjoying the benefits of your mill and a little bit of sweat! Thanks for sharing your videos and God Bless
Sometimes the ugly logs produce the best boards hidden beauty anyway great job see you on the next video. take care stay safe god bless
Your videos have been a Godsend during this stressful political situation. I have a big yard with lots of trees so always plenty to do, and with your lovely things to watch, life is good! Thank you so much!
I could watch trees and logs be cut all day every day.
Gorgeous wood.
Yup, wouldn't have expected boards that nice to come out of there. Quite the nice surprise!

Awesome, Gary! Happy you're back at it!
It would be so nice to be able to do that. Nothing like the beauty of wood. Love seeing what’s inside an old log.
It's great!
Well done my son. Never judge a piece of lumber by its skin. Work safe.
Love your videos. I was watching some of your older videos and you recommended on one for me to watch Northwest Sawyer. Have to say you were spot on. I've been marathon watching his stuff for about 4 days now. Thanks
Good looking boards dude.
Thanks for your videos. I love them.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video. Boards turned out cool👍👍
Good to see the protective gear. Stay safe.
Awesome stuff man!!!
Love those Wood-Mizers. Enjoyed your vid very much.
Nice job. Nice boards. Nice video. Nice.....!
I have no idea how TH-cam got me here, but that saw is freaking awesome!
Finally found someone not talking about the election. :-)
I really wish I could do something like this for a living instead of working indoors 9 to 5.
I figured everyone needed a break.
I hear that, during the pandemic I've started doing woodwork, I'm teaching myself from videos on TH-cam. Maybe one day I'll be able to do it for a living.
That's funny but true 🤠 check ✔
Out of the woods same thing still cool to watch 🤠
Exactly my thoughts, such a beautiful job. Sadly I wouldn't be able to provide for my family doing this in my country.
just plan your time to do something else.
First video of yours I've seen man. I liked it. Thanks
I could listen to you talk all day long!
Nice videos and nice mill by the way.
There's a principle in there somewhere... about being beautiful on the inside that matters!👍😁
You have good peaceful thoughts. Kinda rare these days.
Great video as always.
Good video! Enjoyed watchin' you cut that log...
Thanks Herb! Appreciate you watching.
You know,Wes,logs are a lot like people....not so pretty on the outside, but inside can be pretty nice! Nice lumber.👍
You are correct!
Well done sir, thanks for your videos
That last was really cool! Wow i didnt know lumber had gone that far up on price...
Excelent video! Direct like 👍 from România 😉
You got some skills!
Good for interior finishing.

Wow I’ve never been the first to view. I really enjoy your channel, be safe God bless.
Thanks for watching!
Cool it fells good congrats 👏
Great videos...you can make your own pellets with all that saw dust.
Excelente que hermosas maquinas
Like to have that here in the Philippines it. Would sure make a bigg difference in the cutting of wood
I really enjoyed this. I especially love how you bullied that log so mercilessly. I imagine this is how the Ents from Lord of the Rings roast each other.
So once again we see that beauty is only skin deep - - and so is ugly! Thanks for the video.
Bro...that sawdust was thick as Florida Beach sand.😂🤣😅😆👍✌🇺🇲
Good job
Got my mill going LX25 WOOD-MIZER
New at this, now looking for logs

Oh thats beautiful
Your work in wood is amazing
Good morning from St John Parish, Louisiana 04 Nov 20.
You should bag up the saw dust and sell it.
Dairy farmers would be very happy. Very good for calves and injured animals.
What do you use for blade lube? I've seen several people using diesel fuel, some use windshield washer fluid. I can't see using fuel simply for the smell.
Been some nice weather last few days.
Beautiful down here!
Good stuff!
GOOD JOB
When I move to Georgia from NY that is all my snow shovel will ever move!
wood with character
Very nice boards! Is the sawdust used for anything? When I was a kid in the 50's we could buy (compressed) sawdust logs for the fireplace.
”There’s another reason you shouldn’t save it.” 😂😂😂
Mate who cares if you wear gloves or not.....It's your decision. The TH-cam police will just have to suck it up! Nice looking boards, thank you for the video. Be Safe and Take Care.

What’s the rule of foam on lumber like that do you have to let it sit a while before you use it or can you use it right after it’s cut

What do you do with those first slab cuts? They would make great Kindling.
Maybe make sawdust logs for the fireplace
Remember plant what you cut down
I'm a new subscriber love watching ur vids very interesting
Might be ugly, but inside some lovely boards, beats cutting it up for firewood, never judge a book by its cover as the saying goes. Yes that woodmizer is worth its weight in gold. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
Great content as always, you are living the dream.. any jobs haha. Thanks from Scotland
What blades are you running on that pine?? Taking delivery of LT35 in a week. Soaking up all the knowledge i can. Keep up the great work!!
I use the standard WM double hard blades. They work pretty good. I use 10 degree for about everything. I have some 4 degree for hardwoods too. You'll have a blast with that mill! Congrats!
So about 50% boards and 50% sawdust and scrap. ;-)
Beautiful cuts of wood as usual !! Do U run ur mill as a living or money on the side !! Also the lumber U just milled how long would it have to air dry before U could use it on ur remodel ?
What do you do with the sawdust? My local saw mills sell the bark and sawdust and ground up waste wood.
That sawdust discharge though....
Are you glad you upgraded to the LT15 woodmizer and do you think it was worth the extra money?
Yes, it was worth every penny. This mill is far superior to my old LT10.
When you first split that log into 2 cants you took a thin strip from between them - what is the reason for that?
I’m guessing it’s to remove the center pith of the log. Helps reduce warping.
Parabens
What's the model of cordless blower you use? and what do you think of it?
It’s a DeWalt DCE100B, 20V. I love mine.
A big plus in your favour - you do not continually beg for likes and subscribes with flashing bells and whistles as some do. Your presentation is all good with the right balance between yakking and working.
How long does it take for that sawdust to turn to soil?
Thank you for using the correct terms and not talking down to us. When I use the word "can't" it's in a sentence to my wife explaining my inability to perform a household chore. You apparently use it in two ways: to describe the lever with the hook that you use to manipulate the log (also called a peavey, I believe), and to describe the slab of wood that has been cut square on all four sides. Also, I have a question: why doesn't the saw have a harder time cutting through the middle of a log (or sawing with lots of boards on top of the cut) than cutting off the top board?
I wonder how all that sawdust could be upcycled. 🤔
How straight would those boards stay as they dried? I imagine with that many knots they might tend to warp easily?
Why did you take that lady thing slice out before cutting the 5 1/2 boards? Was it related to the pith?
No, I was trying to get 2 cants that were 5.5" wide, I had to cut that strip out to make it work. It just happened to be the middle that I took it out of.
@@falllineridge not sure where " lady thing" came from. Meant to type "last thin" slice. Glad you speak "typo".
Could you give a tutorial on using the scale and or crank to measure your cuts? I keep getting off by a 1/16th or so.
👍👍👍 I've wanted to ask for a while now. What do you do with all that sawdust?
It goes to waste.
Here in Buffalo we shovel snow in the winter there you shovel sawdust ,lol. I'd rather shovel sawdust.
Could that winch handle a 30 inch by 17 foot log. I have a LT 15 wide cut
You have to remember that what you buy at home depot and other places are kiln dried.
What part of Florida are you in?
How much does a machine like this cost?
Lumber prices high up north too
I don't know about America but in England, the quality of the timber in the big box stores is terrible and even more expensive than the US, to get good grade timber you have to go to a sawmill. I had planned to build a new larger workshop but have had to put it on hold until the Kung Flu is over as the prices for materials are astronomical.
Do you have a molder ? If not who planes the lumber for you.
What becomes of all that saw dust?
