When i was about 15 years old I‘ve heard about an amazing magician in the 19th century who built incredible illusions using his skill as a watch maker. I wanted to know how a watch works and how difficult it is to put one together.
After looking for a while I‘ve found a watch maker where I could take an internship. I watched him work and he explained to me all the intricate parts of a watch. I was fascinated and instantly hooked. I knew then and there, that if one day I had enough money to afford an automatic watch, I’d buy one.
Why are watches so expensive and how could you actually make money from them?
As with anything you could wear, factors like famous people buying and wearing something affects the want for these things a lot. Trends and events also have a huge effect on request. If now a manufacturer only produces a few watches a year. The request beats the supply very quick.
And this is exactly what happens with luxury watches.
