I have been addicted to your trip reports lately and been had predicted part 3 of the great eastern circle would be posted soon thanks to updates. I saw the notification from youtube and got super excited and just had to watch it.
The last time I was at STL, TWA was still flying. I sat at a table in one of the concourse bars. I trio of TWA lawyers sat with me as they were going through the bankruptcy.
I used to fly on TWA twice a year when my ex and I used to fly from Regan (Washington National) then to Tulsa stopping in Chicago (American) and on the return to Washington on TWA. We had to fly out early in the morning because her father was a farmer and had to be home for the after noon milking> The guy doing the video complained about the long walk from the gate to the main terminal, I hope he never has to go through Narita in Tokyo the walk from the United gate to the ANA gate takes about 35 minutes.
As a Northern Virginia resident. Think I can speak for all of us.. We hate Metro too. Going to be an even bigger pain this summer with my Metro station being one of the ones closing for the summer (Blue Line)... Need to go to the Orange Line now if I wanna get into the city.
RyanH_SD 82 Difference between the CTA and Metro. CTA is State owned, while Metro is federal. The feds can’t do anything right. I’ve been behind Virginia taking over Metro in the state for awhile now.
Actually just flew/bussed into STL for the Easter weekend via (BNA and ATL) Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to hit up the old D (now E) gates. Looks like they did a beautiful job with the renovations! Nicely edited as always, too!
Really liked the old Terminal A in DC, hope they leave it as it is. What a spectacular day to fly , at least out of DC. Nice camera work. Thanks, I like your videos.
I traveled to and from DCA (Washington National) periodically in the mid to late 1970s. Probably in the same terminal as you are showing here. The Metro was beginning to run back then... looks much the same as then, but working escalators. 727s and DC-9s were the staple and Delta was my preference, through ATL to MLU, the birth place of Delta Airlines. Great cloud surfing clip into STL! 👍😁
Funny story, that food court that comes into view at 25:30 was where I got my first ass chewing from an officer. I was returning from Holiday Bloc Leave and was going back to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to finish up Army basic training and had disembarked my Southwest flight at Gate E23 and I saw some other soldiers sitting at that court and asked where the way out of terminal was. I accidentally addressed them as bro before I noticed they were Lieutenants and they chewed me a new one calling me an “dumbass Private” and all that. Good times. Also, awesome trip report as always man!
Andrew Tubbiolo Actually, TWA widebodies all used the end of the C concourse back in the day. Those gates were large enough and also had their own customs area down in the basement for international arrivals. D pretty much always served narrowbodies. E40 is just a goofy setup. It shares a holding area with E38, and the doors are right side by side. Hence the first part of the jet bridge is just stapled on the side of the building so you can walk down to where the plane actually parks.
I flew a round trip PVD-DCA on SWA. Rather cramped terminal, and TBH I would have flown AA if they were cheaper. SWA flies 2x -700 aircraft on the route daily.
@@TheElevatorChannel yep I had to do 35x in January 2019 during the epic cold snap.. 2 passengers were late.. doors were open on the bus for 30 mins in 2 degree weather. No one thought until 25 mins to shut the doors and wait for the late connecting passengers.
Pentagon would be on the opposite side of the plane, It's in Virginia, not within The District itself. White House is immediately to the left of the Washington Monument. Look at 13:10 and there's that big patch of openness. The small building surrounded by trees is the White House. Arlington Cemetery is a massive National Cemetery where a lot of military veterans are buried. That's also where the Tomb of the Unknown Solider is located that's guarded by the military 24/7/365, Rain, heat, Blizzard, extreme cold. The tomb is always guarded. Also, at 13:20 you can see the WWII memorial, followed by the Reflecting Pool that leads up to the Lincoln Memorial, comes into view at 13:24.
this takeoff out of dca is my favorite of all time. it’s even more amazing in the spring.

Agreed. Live in Fairfax and think all the public transportation in DC is inconsistent and crap. Growing up in Chicago we had 24/7 service.

..the endless walk (through DC history)..to Terminal A...this DC native know it so well. :) Great video!

Any day is a good day to get out of DC! ;)
andy taylor I’m going to the A Terminal at DCA, since my last flight is going to gate A3. Hopefully it’ll be a nice experience.
Things in DC are broken? Imagine that.
Awesome trip report....take care sir!

STL's gate E40 must have served TWA 747's back in the day. Why else have that ultra long jetway with the bend in the middle?
@H99351/Evan martinson Interesting, then why the ultra long jetway? Did STL make preparations for working with the A380 back in the 'naughties?

That atrium you walked through looks like something out of Men in Black.... :D :D

Awesome video
Interesting arrow for a Schindler 300A MT
Just be blessed you had a walk from B/C to A and not a flight at gate 35X.
Justin Crompton Been there done that. I actually captured the fun in my other DCA-STL trip report
@@TheElevatorChannel I just saw that Jacob.. miserable!! Hope you are safe and the tornadoes in Missouri did not directly impact you.

Elevatorchannel what camera do you have and how many gigabytes/ terabytes is on the memory card
Ay yi yi! Gotta love "escalators" at underground stations.
Lambert Airport looks nice.
25°F (-3.5°C) in St. Louis that day. Balmy compared to Chicago.
Those escalators are very dangerous there in Washington because of how they maintain them plus did the tunnels smell like natural gas
The 5:45 mark sort of looks like a hospital
One day i will make it into DCA's old Terminal.
Was that as hard of a landing as it sounded like it was??
do u know who qfs aviation and jeb brooks are
What’s the intro music?
Btw, keep up the great videos!

Ironically, I'm going on a 737 jet tomorrow from Portland to Charlotte, N.C.
You accidentally said DCA Airpirt station just so you know.
It is the code for DCA which is Ronald Regan Washington national airport.
Saw the Capitol, obviously. The Wash. Monument; where was the Pentagon and White House from takeoff? Also Arlington Cemetery?
