Hey Brother! Good to hear from You….. hope all is well! I'm still waiting for the Big announcement on the release of the new spices. :-) Oh yeah….. It's gonna Rock! \m/
Cool! But remember, really all you need to do is control temps with airflow. I hope to be showing a new basket idea very soon. Hope You get a chance to check out more of my stuff. 👍 Metal On! \🔥/
Thanks Bro! I watched your Vid where You added the gasket. That was a great idea,… because these rings aren't always perfect with the original kettle size. I'll be using that mod! Hell Yeah!!!! \m/
Love that set up. I have a grate that I call a racetrack. It works similar to the snake method. Lots of good cooks on that in the future. Love this idea
Meat turned out great. I absolutely lov3 the new gadget . seems to be working out well im sure after a few tweaks it will run flawlessly. Cheers brother!!
Cool video and nice rig Brother. I've been looking at one of these expansion ring I wonder if I mod it a bit for a rotisserie with a large cylinder tumble basket for wings. It might be a walk off.
Thanks Brother! It needs a little tweaking…. but it Rocks! I made my lunch sandwiches with it. And one day I thought of You and put mustard on it…. it Rocked!!!! \m/
Hey so I rewatched this video again because I think you actually had a great idea with this and I wanted to see if I could figure out why the coals spread to another lane. What I noticed is right where you had that big piece of pecan chunk is where it jumped over. I'm thinking that the wood chunk lit the charcoal on the next lane. Man I'd love to see you redo this test with no wood, or at least remove some charcoal to place in some wood, and see what happens. No cook , just a duration test where you check incrementally to see that it's still following the path. ✌😎👍
Hey Ruben! Thanks for the interest in this crazy snake method experiment. Good observation and thinking it was the chunk that ignited, but I believe that the charcoal got really hot in the direction of where the stoker was blowing, which heated the baffle material and ignited the charcoal in that next lane in the stoker direction. Sorry I dismantled this basket so it can't be done again, but if I would try it again, for shits and giggles, I would have a small air gap between duel baffles so they wouldn't get so hot as to ignite the charcoal in the next lane. But really all you need is to use the minion method, and control the temps. The charcoal will burn or not burn at the desired rate of what your set temp is. Snake or minion?........doesn't really matter. I just like playing! 😁 👍🍺 \🔥/
Thank You Sir! An experiment I tried. It works better without the use of a stoker….. it will burn around evenly. I've actually watched a Vid from you……. you've been at this game for a long time. :-) Smoke On!!!! \m/
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que great idea ring of fire! a tip I would try is to have the blower in the center of the ash tray and a Metal ring of a soup can so you don't get ash in the fan
After thought, spiral the two pieces of metal, put a 1/8 " gap between them using small pieces of metal all the around the spiral. Then do a tack weld every two or three inches around the whole assembly, on the top and the bottom of the spiral, but don't tack weld your spacers. Remove the spacers so you are left with two spiral sheets tack welded to separate them by 1/8". I'm going to try that
:-) Wow! I have to say I'm impressed with the thought You have put into this! Most people only want to know where they can buy a product that has been mass marketed! LLLLLL You're a thinker...I like that! Well.....You are exactly right about doubling it up to have that air insulator....I believe it will work as planned. With this original design and set up, using a Stoker, the Stoker was blowing and concentrating the oxygen supply to that side of the charcoal ring. Which we know makes charcoal burn hotter and faster. Thus the reason why it jumped over only at that point. I've used this ring in other set ups without the use of the Stoker....and it burned slowly and consistently around the ring without any jumping of the coals. But I have to say........take this idea and expound on it! It will Work....I know it will! When I get time I will probably hack this one apart and add that second strip! Let Me know how Your version of the Slow Burn Basket works for You. Your Rock....Metal On!!!! \m/
totally awesome! wow just wow! love those handles! wish I could find some good ones like that for my WSM...it's a momma dog to lift without them. Hey just a thought.... if you ever need to fill the heat diffuser, try lava rocks or kiddie play sand. I use that in my WSM instead of water. then put some foil over it like you did for you pan for easy clean up. it seems to help keep the Temps more stable and helps disperse the heat. just a thought is all. love the channel! keep it up my friend!
Thanks Bro! I'm sure You can come up with something that will work. I always thought that about WSM….. no handles. I don't get it. I hear You…. I'm the Briquette King! Use them all the time! I just wanted to try this first run with the plate. Good looking out!….. I appreciate it! Keep it Metal……. Rock On!!! \m/
If your spiral was made with the metal bent double before the spiral was made, the double thickness might keep the fire from jumping, assuming the fire is going through the metal, not around it.
Yes Sir! Good point! When I've used it without the stoker, it does burn around evenly. Here's a Vid that shows it. th-cam.com/video/mFphnZuzTpo/w-d-xo.html Another one of my experiments. :-) Thanks for checking out my channel! \m/
I viewed this a while back, but after looking had not left a comment. Loved your cajun bandit on the weber. loved the ring of fire. Boy you had a lot of charcoal left over. It did a great job on the pork butt. I'm ready for more HMB video
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que haha, thanks. I'm regrouping some. Ordered a tripod to hold my phone so I can free both hands. will do that until I see where this is going and spending momey on a camera etc. Been working on creating a new chamnel emoji. what do yo think? probably do a cook for Memorial Day. Smoke on.
Hey Phil! It all sounds good to Me. Do and use what works for You! I'm very low budget when it comes to production equipment….. but that's just me. LLLLLLL To be honest……. what's an emoji????? Do I need one? Me too……. if the weather is good I might put something out. Smoke On!
Its the small picture om yoir channel either with your picture or whatever pic or cartoon emoji you use. What shows up beside your channel name when you post a commemt. _lh3.googleusercontent.com/PmX0iKk3Tk0g8SG5lvipzjvg0TJgLV_dSW0RmG8q9LcgXWAYE98Ukv5DcLpTMvJpjoqaLwDNYg_
I have a suggestion for your Ring of Fire. Use two. Attach them with small bolts and nuts, with one nut in between to maintain a small air gap between the rings. Your fire jumped because the metal got hot enough to ignite the coals in the next ring. A small air gap will prevent that.
Bingo! Now You got it! The stoker was blowing in one concentrated direction. It needs to be diffused! Nice going My Friend! That's for watching! Rock On!!! \m/
I just saw your impressive video today and I haven't researched any follow up video but I was wondering if you figured out how to stop the "fire jump" you had with this test. If you didn't already figure it out I'd like to offer a dual shield solution. I'm thinking that the metal separating the coals got hot enough to ignite the next set of coals prematurely so all you need is an insulator on the spiral metal that you have. Air is your best insulator so I was thinking that instead of using one sheet of metal for the spiral, use two sheets spun together but not perfectly so you would have a small gap of air between the two pieces of metal, so there's a small gap of air sandwiched between the two closely wound spirals. I believe that would achieve the results you are looking for. Buy the way, I'm going to try what I'm suggesting and let you know the results.
Hey Bro! Thanks for the interest in this idea. It's a crazy snake method, I guess You can call it? Didn't really work the way I had hope, because the stoker was feeding the hot coals and it kinda burnt sideways. But I bet with even air intake it would work better. I couldn't tell the length to be honest. Not sure if I would even pursue this. I was just trying something fo fun. I'de just get a good basket filled and do the minion method from the center. Forget water.....use ceramic briquettes or play sand in the bowl. They add thermal mass.....they get hot and stay hot! Will save on fuel consumption and help even out temps. Metal On!!! \m/
OK, I haven't watched the video yet but have already liked due to your intro "hey there all you tubers". Nice work, it hooked me straight up, love your work. Thanks...
LLLLLL You're the first to catch that…. or comment on it. Funny shit! Hope You get a chance to watch more of my adventures with BBQ! It's all about the Que!!! Keep it Metal…… and Smoke On!!!! \m/

LOVE the mods you did Brother ... THAT's ROCK ON ... gonna hafta see if I can do something similar to yours. I'm curious about the "stoker" can you tell me more about it ?? Stay hungry man :)
Hey Doug! I've got lots of Vids using a PID controller Stoker. It's the way to go if you want to load up the pit and get some sleep on an over night cook. Also a great idea to use because it keeps such steady temps that it doesn't waste fuel. Plenty of them out there to choose from. If you have any questions I'm always around. 👍🍺 \m/
:-) Yep…… I need to show more of that thing. Thanks for reminding me. Hey Gary….. wanted to tell you that those Rocks You were enjoying, were originally made in Latrobe PA. About a half hour drive from me. Roll and Rock On!!!! \m/
Hey Joe! No it did not burn as planned. With using the stoker.......the oxygen made the briquettes burn towards the stoker inlet port. Learned a lot from this Vid.
It seems you could have done that without the expansion ring just using the Webber as is. Does the expansion help in a specific way? Looks like great results.
Well…..the ring is taller than the height of the grate level in the kettle. You want to use it for low and slow with a heat deflector or water pan in the pit. I also use it in my WSM! Smoke On!!! \m/
I like this .your fire ring idea. You should patent it pretty awesome(Ring of Fire ) .You must get long burn time with little waste of fuel don't you Awsome video thanks
Hey Bro! Thanks for checking it out! I Mod and experiment with shit, just to find out what works for me. It's only entertainment….. in the search for awesome Que! Smoke and Rock On!!!!! \m/ \m/
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que It looks like you just invented a new attachment for a kettle!! I want one for xmas , (hey baby thanks for getting me a metal snake ). That heavy metal kettle looks awesome!
Good question and thanks! I wouldn't say it ran hot with a minion.....it all comes down to controlling airflow to control temps. Just wanted to try this method to see if I can save some fuel. I also wanted to see if I could have fewer coals burning hotter, to maintain temp, than a lot of coals burning not so hot. All just an experiment!
Looks good making me hungry have always wanted to try one of them stokers really like that extension ring for the webber although that shoulder looked kinda lonely
Thanks for checking out my Vid….appreciate it! Well……..I think you are talking about the actual fan assembly. Here's the link to what I'm using. www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14_27&sort=20a&page=1 Hope this helps You! \m/
I hear Ya'! The hole I used was the hole that the lid hanger uses. Yes…..Don't damage the porcelain finish on the kettle…..IT WILL RUST!!! You know that already! LLLLL You'll figure something out…….let me know! Smoke On!!!!! \m/
Absolutely amazing mods! You are obviously a pro a grilling techniques and custom mods. Please work on your camera skills though. The video was hard to watch with the camera moving around and making me seasick.
Hi HM. you leave me in suspense. I'm still waiting for that really long cook to end to find out how long it would go... The first spiral snake was no less haunting. Glad you got it burning for 6 hours. I think the problem is that the sheet metal divider is not enough of a thermal barrier to keep the fire from jumping over to another circle. What if you could use an insulating material of some kind? But I have to commend you for being radically innovative and daring. Who else could get away with roasting some weenie snack sticks? Got a question for you. I think I saw you with a controller that is available as a kit and has lots of possibilities. Now I can't find it again. I was probably watching it while not being logged into TH-cam. Was that you?
Yes....it's Auber Instruments. Google them.....I don't have the link at this moment. They make industrial grade products......You will find the option that works for your pit. Metal On!!!
@@HeavyMetalBarBQue You're awesome! Thanks for the help. My co-inlaw wants to build one and maybe I'll have him build me one. Still don't know if it charts.
I don't know........I have more options than you can imagine with my Weber stuff. Go and check out more of my Vids and You'll see what I can do! That Keg is limited.....not for me. Glad you're happy with it.....Smoke On!!!! \m/
Thanks! Just doing My thing….Heavy Metal Style! The extension ring and charcoal ring is from Cajun Bandit.com Check them out! I added the snake method effect and welded it all together. Thanks for checking it out……. Rock On!!! \m/

Sorry Mr Rocker just looked at the obvious and commented to assert my superior intelligence. Can you please explain how to get your center stainless thingy.. To Australia so I can... 🤦♂️ Never mind
Why????????? The temps naturally get higher inside the wrapped foil because of the steaming effect. That's why it automatically cooks faster when You wrap it. Good luck!
Yes they are! If I had only one pit.......it would be the Kettle! If you start watching my Vids.....You'll see I do a lot of crazy outside the box set ups. For no other reason than......it's Fun! :-) Metal On!!!! \m/
Maybe to You……..but not for Me. This burns even with consistent temps without the use of a stoker. This is just one example of the set up. It Only burned sideways because of the oxygen supply. Smoke On! \m/
Very cool experiment, looks like this will be a winner once dialed in!
Hey Brother! Good to hear from You….. hope all is well! I'm still waiting for the Big announcement on the release of the new spices. :-)
Oh yeah….. It's gonna Rock! \m/
That was a pretty innovative idea! The Heavy Metal Kettle is pretty cool!
Thanks!…. Trying to make something that works for me. I want ease and convenience.
Appreciate You checking it out! Rock On!!!! \m/
Thank you brother for an awesome video! This has changed my Weber world. Time for shop class...

I could have really used that extension ring this past Thanksgiving when I was smoking our bird..
Haha, nice. Is a deflector plate with a hole in the middle underneath the generator the solution so that the snake burns in the right direction?

I have a suggestion for your Ring of Fire. Use two. Attach them with small bolts and nuts, with one nut in between to maintain a small air gap between the rings. Your fire jumped because the metal got hot enough to ignite the coals in the next ring. A small air gap will prevent that.
You should also rig a baffle and diffuser on your stoker so the air isn't blowing directly on the coals.
Hmmmmmm….. well……. I'm not sure about this suggestion. But I do appreciate your thoughts. You Rock!

What was the reason for doing the snake method? Did it run hot with minion method?
Good question and thanks! I wouldn't say it ran hot with a minion.....it all comes down to controlling airflow to control temps. Just wanted to try this method to see if I can save some fuel. I also wanted to see if I could have fewer coals burning hotter, to maintain temp, than a lot of coals burning not so hot. All just an experiment!

Thanks for checking out my Vid….appreciate it! Well……..I think you are talking about the actual fan assembly. Here's the link to what I'm using. www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14_27&sort=20a&page=1 Hope this helps You! \m/
Thank you for responding so quickly. I want to avoid drilling a hole in kettle for the fan. \m/
I hear Ya'! The hole I used was the hole that the lid hanger uses. Yes…..Don't damage the porcelain finish on the kettle…..IT WILL RUST!!! You know that already! LLLLL
You'll figure something out…….let me know! Smoke On!!!!! \m/
Where did you get the stainless expansion ring?
EDCOP66 Cajun Bandit
It looks like your ring would work fine without the stoker unit. Maybe that's why the fire jumped near the stoker. Great cook.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank You Sir for checking it out! Yep…..that's what I'm thinking too.
I'm just throwing shit against a wall to see what sticks. Keep it Metal!!!! \m/
hey that's cool..
Thanks Man! Appreciate you checking it out! If you like that kinda crap….. I got many more Vids you'll enjoy! \m/

Hope perfect it cool idea🤘
Thanks Bro! I'll be using this set up a lot in the future. Rock On! \m/
Absolutely amazing mods! You are obviously a pro a grilling techniques and custom mods. Please work on your camera skills though. The video was hard to watch with the camera moving around and making me seasick.
:-) Thank You Sir! I agree.....I will work on that. Hope you find time to watch more of my work. Metal On! \m/
Hi HM. you leave me in suspense.
Nice
Thank You Sir! Hope You get a chance to check out more of My ideas. Metal On My Friend! \🔥/
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que I have, been browsing through. Thanks 🙏

I don't know........I have more options than you can imagine with my Weber stuff. Go and check out more of my Vids and You'll see what I can do! That Keg is limited.....not for me. Glad you're happy with it.....Smoke On!!!! \m/

Way to go!!
Are you making this yourself?
Cheers brother!
Thanks! Just doing My thing….Heavy Metal Style!

Cool……Rock On!!!! \m/
Did you make that spiral ring??
Yes Sir! Give it a try…… I'm not selling or promoting anything on my channel. Smoke On! \m/
You have no kids...
Sorry Mr Rocker just looked at the obvious and commented to assert my superior intelligence. Can you please explain how to get your center stainless thingy.. To Australia so I can... 🤦♂️ Never mind
That ring cost twice as much as my whole grill. So, ah, no.
That's cool.........Do what works for You! That's all I'm saying on my channel!
Hope You find time to check out more of my stuff! Metal On! 👍
your suppose to crank the heat up after you wrap it
Why????????? The temps naturally get higher inside the wrapped foil because of the steaming effect.
That's why it automatically cooks faster when You wrap it. Good luck!
$200 or more just for the ring
Are You saying what You would pay for it.....or asking what I paid for it? Metal On! \🔥/
Shitty horrible design . The kettle is all you need for the snake.
I agree......the kettle is all you need!
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que hey brother! I really mean no disrespect. Weber is smarter than us!
Yes they are! If I had only one pit.......it would be the Kettle!
If you start watching my Vids.....You'll see I do a lot of crazy outside the box set ups.
For no other reason than......it's Fun! :-) Metal On!!!! \m/
Big fail ...
Maybe to You……..but not for Me. This burns even with consistent temps without the use of a stoker. This is just one example of the set up. It Only burned sideways because of the oxygen supply. Smoke On! \m/
