@Mr. Awesome I live in Ohio and anytime a child is reported as being missing or abducted the Sheriff of the county where the child was reported missing or abducted will issue the announcement and encourage the public to serve as the additional eyes and ears of the law enforcement community to help the authorities find the child alive and safe.
I've heard of mother and child being abducted by the child's uncle, or even by his father (due to custody battle issues), but a rogue flatfoot? Why would a police officer wanna take a Hispanic mother and son hostage at gunpoint?

I've never heard a Child Abduction or Amber Alert EAS message with an automated voice. It's usually someone talking rather fast.
