Tom T Hall finishes off the set with two of his most requested songs. An excellent performance from the headline act at the Peterborough Country Music Festival (UK) 1983.
I worked shows as a stage hand and a spot light operator for many years (when they had the Super Trooper light) I worked Mr. Hall's show, and had the great chance to meet him. He asked me for a light, and as I lit his cigarette he offered me one. We smoked a cigarette and chatted, and then he went back to the green room and I went back to work. I kept that cigarette butt for many years. He is truly a gentleman. It is a memory I will never forget. Thanks Mr. Hall for just being a regular man.
These songs are timeless, I remember them from my youth and still share them with my grand kids. Some music just stays with you. God bless the old Trubadors.
This song (sneaky snake) was my favorite when I was little. That was back in the early 70's. My mom used to call the radio station and request it for me.
My whole family got evicted from our house and moved into a little old country church for 4 months. There were snakes all around this area and this song brings back great memories of living in the wild and just having fun as a kid.
Tom made the would jump with joy and sing along to anything he put words too. My dad got a kick out of "Sneaky Snake" and I can't say I didn't smile every time I heard it as well. Before my father past I found out my wife "Cookie" would dance and sing along with that song when my dad played it. Man you should have seen the sparkle in her eyes. If you've never seen a song make people laugh, cry, and get a sparkle in their eye, you have never heard "Tom T. Hall" Thank God Tom is still alive.
I bought the first kids album for my daughter back in 1079! As far as I know, she still has it! I think her favorite song on it was Pisty, the dog!! I just love every song he ever sang! Rest in Peace, Tom!!!
Two of Tom T Hall's best songs ever ... I'm in Australia and my brother and I had the Songs Of Fox Hollow LP ... and we too played it to death. I legally downloaded many of the songs and now my nephew loves listening to the same songs his Dad and I listened to at his age.
My Mom bought me this when I was a kid at about 5. She was a single Mom :) I met Tom T Hall years later after a show he was so nice to me and I got his autograph !
My Dad and I loved both of these songs. And will be playing both songs in memory for my Dad at my upcoming wedding. Since I have lost my dad 12 yrs ago and just lost mom 6 months ago. Need some fun uplifting songs for the reception.
I had a Day Care home for many years, not a lot of financial $$$, but more fun than I can ever give back, and this was one of the songs the children loves the best. We would sing it often, and the kids loved it.............
Today was the first time I'd heard this song since first grade over 30 years ago. Mrs Miller used to play this song for us as we cleaned the room at the end of each day.
Me again, this one is really great, Tom's songs are a lot more reminders of things children happen upon.........I started my life in another time/venue, and not where most children did, but a lot of old nightlife, and interesting people........There was a wonderful man, Nathan, I will never forget him, he worked the night and ran lots of errands for the late night gamblers, I would follow him all over town, he was amazing with stories and life experiences, always with a laugh and good sense.
I met him three times, and he was just the most delightful man. Also the most original songwriter ever, and his baritone voice - I just love it. Wonder why he doesn't use a guitar strap.
I've discovered this past week that I have snakes living under my front porch deck. I am terrified of snakes and this song popped into my head out of the past. All I could remember was "I don't like old sneaky snake" and I found it here. Now I'm singing it all the time and have put down something to get rid of them. Hopefully, it will work and I'll just keep on singing!
I remember WALTER taking me to school the first year up mountain lake rd. to newly built LIBERTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN NEW JERSEY. I STILL MISS YOU. PS! Are you happy or did Agnes find you?

Sneaky Snake was my favorite song when I was small.
one of my favorite memories with my Daddy was him and I singing this song
My niece and nephew, too. They taught it to my son, who is a little older. Now they are all well into their 40s.
My first song and first memory. My daddy would open his guitar case and let us dance in it as he played sneaky snake for my brother and I. :))))))
Our school Principle got all the kids together, and played his guitar singing Sneaky Snake when I was in the second grade,.
