    Looks amazing. The only problem is that it is visible. I would like to have the same but inside the shoe and with front panel for knee support like in ottobock.

      Hello Gianluca, I just acquired the turbomed xterns, insurance paid for them with a prescription. Online research at myjafo.com shows the cover with one brace 945$. I have bilateral footdrop, these Turbomeds are AMAZING! I can walk again! Had them 2 weeks and the difference is astonishing! Good Luck!

      It doesn't help or support your knee, it's for your ankle.

    Hello, Thanks for videos! I have a couple of questions. What is strapped below your knee? Is it support or the electrical stimulator? I have bilateral footdrop and have the carbon braces like ottobock. I totally agree with you on don't feel safe(balance) because of rigidity. I can walk on flat surface fine but that is all. Before this condition I did more than walk! I checked out your videos on step smart and turbomed. I liked both by the visual. I have an appointment in a week with orthotics place for the turbomed xtern. I need the Xtra movement like I saw you demonstrate. Which do you prefer in your daily routines? Thanks again!

    • @walkingwithwes6516
      @walkingwithwes6516  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - Strapped below my knee is the support, I do not use any electrical devices as they have no effect on me. I use the standard NHS afo for daily routine, and sometimes with some sports I use the Turbomed as it gives me that extra movement and with it being outside my footwear causes me less irritation. Hope this helps!

      @@walkingwithwes6516 Thank you so much for responding! I don't have Facebook, may get my wife to check that out for me. I've had the condition for some time but did not realize until tripping and falling started to get more frequent. I've always been athletic and physical with everyday life. Having to really concentrate on just walking(ok left foot goes there,right foot there,oh lift your leg a little higher that grass will make you go down!)you know all this I'm sure. The toe off brace I thought woohoo I can walk! As we know that is it! If you hit an uneven or wet surface and slip it is hard to stay upright because of no movement of the brace. I was diagnosed 3/2018. I will lose my place of employment because of the physical requirements needed to perform that I can no longer accomplish. I found your videos the other day and WOW! Hope is achievable! The neurologist and neurosurgeons have no hope. Stimulators have no use on me either. I havent seen the one you take out of your shoe I will check it out. Thank you for your time and reading/listening to me get lengthy. People who can walk normal do not understand. My name is Ty. Keep up what I call the EXCELLENT work!

    Hi Wes,
    Great video! One question: Does the attachment point on top of the shoe cause any pressure on the top of your foot? The surgery I had messed a lot of the nerves in my foot and added pressure may be uncomfortable for me.
    Thanks!

    Hi Wes, thanks for the great video. While reading the comments I got curious as to why you only use Turbomed for some sports and use the standard NHS one for your day to day life. What's the reason for not using this apparently amazing device all the time?

    • @walkingwithwes6516

      Hey good question! It's because I only had teh standard for so many years I guess i adapted to it. The Turbomed is good, but sometimes I find after prolonged use that my ankle get sore as its not as rigid to provide the stability I need in that area.

    Hi Wes, really appreciate the videos. I'm thinking about getting a Turbomed but my leg is totally paralyzed below the knee (so in addition to foot drop I have no plantar flexion either). I currently use a brace similar to the Ottobock which I use for running but it tears up my heel and shoes in the process. Do you think the Turbomed would work well for someone like myself who needs a brace for plantar flexion as well as a foot drop?

      Hiya Jared - I really like the Turbomed, and find it one of the most comfortable to wear as it does not go in the inside of your shoe, therefore allowing your foot to "breathe". However, depending on the strength of your ankle, you may need an ankle stabiliser too.

      @@tejas-ul2pn it's works well for me. I use it for work mostly, or if I'm going to be doing alot of walking. Sometimes people ask what it's for, I just smirk and tell them it allows me to run and jump higher lol. Because of my low back and nerve impingement, I avoid jumping activities as it puts strain on my L5-S1 joint. It works great with easy hiking trails, biking, and daily ADL's. It's not as hidden as a insert/shoe drop brace, so mentally wearing it arround, you fell a bit self conscious, but that faded for me a while ago.

    Hi Wes, I'm subscribed to you here on YT and also a member (AB Cee) of your group on FB. I've been using the Step Smart for the last 5-6 years and it's the 'best' one I have tried so far. I've just (today) heard about this Turbomed brace from the FB group. How does this brace compare to the Step Smart is terms of movement/ gait? Your dorsiflexion looks SO regular. My only gripe about this brace from watching the clip is it's bulky frame that is not 'invisible', which is important to me. Thanks in advance!
