The whole tournament would have been done in half an episode due to how OP the main 3 would be together, they could do lots of combos such as Asta redirecting Noelle sea dragon’s roar if she misses her opponent or Yuno using his wind to increase Asta and Noelle’s speeds drastically, especially Asta due to his anti magic swords getting pulled in by strong mana, at that point they’d only need to use spirit dive and black Asta against Rill

If Black Clover was just a basic generic shonen which followed the formula to a T, Asta and Yuno would've fought each other in the finals, and that's what probably most of viewers thought. It was even setting it up when putting them on different teams. But Tabata with the twists gave Yuno power-up and made him fight an actual magic knights' captain in the finals.
