Asks for this video Allen. I am amazed more and more by the pro level functioning of ChauvetDJ lighting. Keep it coming with these online training videos, thanks.
i have 2 255IRC spots for my band and control them with DMX. auto mode and the irc function are pretty much useless for a band. get a DMX controller and a light man and get what you really need out of these lights! many great video's to learn from.
Wicked lights I used a pair of these on the weekend spot 255 Irc very user friendly and easy to use in low light environment my next purchase just waiting for bpm Birmingham to have chat with rep

I have 2 intimidators 160 but i justo cannot make themes work as slave master. I swear I followed this video instructions. Or Do I need to have 4 of themes yo make them Work?
We do not currently have a video showing this but please contact our customer service department and they will walk you through how to do this. chauvetcs@chauvetlighting.com or (954) 577-4455 option 4.
Hi there. Just invested in a pair of these. Was wondering when using a pair in master slave mode what would be the best slave number for the second unit (slave 2,3 or 4) to get the best looking show? I've used them in master & slave 2 but looking at how slave 4 works in this video I think it may look better as master & slave 4. What do you think. Also when using DMX is it possible to change the gobo and colour wheels by sound to light or quick change (like the auto shows) instead of scrolling? Thanks
Slave #2, 3 and 4 will act differently because of the innovative programming, however I can’t tell you which is the best because that’s subjective. I recommend you check each slave mode for a few minutes and pick your favorite. We used to have the ability to set the gobo and color wheel to sound mode, but that feature was removed a few years ago since it wasn’t very popular.
+CHAUVET DJ Thanks for that. I see in the IR mode you can select auto gobo advance which will change the gobo quickly instead of scrolling but can you do the same in DMX?
I have a intimidator spot 355irc and also a 350 I was wondering if using the master slave mode with these two fixtures would the lights move the same, or it’s not possible to do the master slave mode with two different models.
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, you're only able to master / slave mode Intimidator Spot 355irc to other Intimidator Spot 355irc. The fixtures must be the same in order to use this feature.
I have four 360's and tried using some wireless DMX Transmitters, the master sends out the signals but some of the units "twitches" has anyone encounter this issue, I'm using the Donner DMX models...
I just purchased two Intimidator 255 IRC lights and so far I really like them. After watching this video, I now know that Alan knows specific values about angles of coverage. I am using an ADJ WLC16 WiFlLy DMX controller. I wish there was some documentation that I could learn about the horizontal and vertical degrees of aim that are available in the two different TOTEM modes. You mentioned very specific degrees of coverage that I can nnot find anywhere in the documentation that is available at the Chauvet DJ online "Downloads" section. Nothing is mentioned in the User Manual or Quick Reference guide. Please let me know where I can gather more information than what is included in the documentation that came with the lights. Thanks Alan, I hope I am spelling your name correctly :) May I also state that I wish I could change the TOTEM mode via DMX. I have to go to each unit and change them on the setup screen. Dan
There are 2 Totem modes to choose from: UP and DOWN. This decision should be based on how the fixture will be orientated. For example, if the fixture is on a truss stick on the floor the correct totem mode would be DOWN because the fixture is on the ground and the base is down. The opposite is also an option where the fixture is inverted and suspended from an overhead truss system. In this orientation, the correct totem mode would be UP because the base and overall fixture are UP in the air. Both modes will limit the PAN to 180° so it never shines behind your setup and the tilt is where the differences are. When the fixture is UP it will shine on the ceiling [0°] and point straight down to ROUGHLY 135°. When the fixture is DOWN it will shine on the floor [0°] and straight up to, ROUGHLY 135° as well. I hope this helps!
We have 3 videos. This product debuted back at the NAMM show in January. DJNexuz1, are you using haze or fog when using your Intimidator Spot 255 IRC? In order to get these "long beam" effects as shown in the video it is essential to use a atmospherics such as the CHAUVET DJ Hurricane Haze 4D or the Hurricane 1800 Flex. Atmospherics allow the light / beams to reflect off of the particles in the air and create that aerial effect that you're looking for. You can find more information about the right atmospheric for you by clicking this link. www.chauvetdj.com/products/category/atmospherics/.
+CHAUVET DJ Appreciated because that was the one thing putting me off, having to go through all that for every gig would drive me mad. I'd like to just set 2 up on auto to do the front dancefloor only with no dmx and never have to touch a setting again. That's doable?
+Pete Z Yes, you would have to set it to Totem Mode and when you turn off the fixture Totem mode will remain set unless you go back into the menu and disable it.
i dont wish to sound disrespectful but what is impressive about this...master slave idea has been around for 15 plus years, also you still have to link the heads with XLR ....so if you are going to go to all the trouble of setting up cables/head settings into slave etc...wouldn't it be better to add a basic cheap controller to get the best results from these great lights ???.
Hi Donna. The simple master/slave signal is not the impressive part - I agree. The impressive part is the fact that the software in these fixtures can add a time delay between fixtures without needing an expensive controller or DMX. Another impressive part is Totem Mode which automatically recalculates the pan and tilt positions to keep all lights on or over the dance floor. This is a feature that was developed by us a few years ago and has been absolutely loved by the mobile entertainment industry ever since. Taking it one step further, you can control an unlimited number of Intimidators in master/slave, with a time delay, while keeping the lights on the dance floor - all wirelessly using the IRC6 remote. If you want to control these lights via DMX by adding a basic controller you are more than welcome to. With that control option, you will need to program the movement & positions, shutter, colors, gobos, gobo rotation, prism, etc all separately. If you follow this video, all that extra work is already done for you and you don't need to worry about DMX. That is impressive. :)
PLEASE HELP!!! Ok i just bought 2 of these. Question1- so of I have 2 units, I have to set the slave in slave 2? Question 2- so with the IRC remote, you can unlock the built in programs? Question3- I don’t use dmx, how can i run these shinning at the same spot and slowly panning the room? I dj alone so any pointers on getting more out of these would greatly help. Wvery time i set them on master/slave, I hardly ever see the 3 facet prizm come up. Thank you.
Thanks for reaching out. Question 1, Yes. Question 2, Yes, you can trigger built-in programs using the IRC. Question 3, you need to use DMX, it is the only way to get that intended look. If you need additional help with troubleshooting these issues, please reach out to our dedicated customer service team at chauvetcs@chauvetlighting.com or call 9545774455 option 4
Can you limit the area where these travel? For instance we have about a 10' x 16' space on ether side of our main stage piece, which is where I'm looking for a light like this to shine to create ambiance. But I don't necessarily want it covering over the rest of the stage piece, which is already lit. Thoughts? Recommendation?
You will need to use a DMX controller and tell the light where to go. Unfortunately, It’s impossible to have preset movements and limitations for every scenario.
Just received two 355z irc's and trying to figure them out...can I run slave one and two so that they work opposite of each other with my IRC remote? do they need to have the dmx cable plugged in?
You should run the first unit as a MASTER and the second unit can be any of the slaves [slave #1 will always duplicate the master]. If all you want is a reversed pan/tilt, set the first unit to AUTO and the second unit to SLAVE #1. Reverse the pan and tilt on the 2nd unit and then control the master with the IRC remote. The units will need to be connected with a DMX cable.
Thanks for reaching out. There are a few ways to use the prism feature on the Intimidator 355IRC. First, you can use the built-in DMX controls, or you can use the IRC remote to activate this mode as well. Here is the manual for quick reference. www.chauvetdj.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Intimidator_Beam_355_IRC_UM_WO_Rev.2.pdf
How do I Set, save, and recall 1 scene manually directly from the full-color LCD display or the remote? I can't seem to find this documentation anywhere.
You can't do that from the remote. You can either go to each fixture individually and adjust them using manual mode or plug them all into DMX and adjust them via a controller.
In the video the lights go opposite of each other, so curious as to which ones if any are set to reverse pan and/or tilt. Or does setting them at slave 1,2,3,4 do it by nature. Thanks for the reply.

If I am using dmx can I leave them in the master slave mode? In other words can I switch between what you just did and back to dmx mode without unplugging cables ? Or do I use the remote?
You cannot send a master/slave signal down a DMX line because other fixtures will act erratically.
I have 2 intimidators 160 but i justo cannot make themes work as slave master. I swear I followed this video instructions. Or Do I need to have 4 of themes yo make them Work?
Do you have a video showing how to program the Manual mode? How do I set it so it will shine on one spot at any given time? Using the IR6 remote.

That Totem mode sounds like a fantastic feature. Is that a standalone feature only?
+GS Lighting Solutions No, it works with DMX also.
+CHAUVET DJ that's a cool feature especially for smaller venues
Do you have to go through all this each time you setup eg for mobile dj system or does it remember?

if i wanna dmx these what is a good dmx controller i can use i have 4x of the 255 irc an 2x 355z? thanks

CHAUVET DJ thanks for the info
How do I Set, save, and recall 1 scene manually directly from the full-color LCD display or the remote? I can't seem to find this documentation anywhere.
Check out page #15 in the user manual.
So obviously they were linked with dmx cable correct? I own 1 pair of those thinking about picking up another set I also own 6 intimidator spot 350.
+oscar gomez Yes, Allan said that in the video.
how can I get these to stand still like the way you had them at the beginning of the video?
This can be achieved with Manual Mode on the Intimidator's display. Or, DMX.
How to auto-sync heads to track BPM (without mic)?
This software works well for DJ Chauvet Intimidator Spot 100 IRC ?? I have a couple of them
Unfortunately this won't apply to the Spot 100 IRC because it doesn't have a full-color display.
Sweet!
Is there a practical way to master/slave 2 355z and 2 455z? Thanks.
+Tom Lewis No, sorry there is not
Do you have to have 4 lights in order for master to control any slaves?
No, just as long as you have more than one fixture!
What is the truss totem you are using?
Glo Totems from our sister brand TRUSST. www.trusst.com
one more question, How many built in programs can you access with the IRC remote?
George, all of the programs are accessible via the IRC-6 remote.
@@CHAUVETDJ how many ? What number 10? 20?
How do make the lights face the same direction when using the remote in master slave mode? ( no auto)
You can't do that from the remote. You can either go to each fixture individually and adjust them using manual mode or plug them all into DMX and adjust them via a controller.
Can I slave this 255irc together to 355 irc?
Francisco, thanks for reaching out. These products are not compatible in master / slave mode.
When you setup Master/Slave . Do I need DMX cables?
When you want the fixtures to talk to each other, you will then need the cables, yes.
@@CHAUVETDJ Are you goings thinking of adding wireless capabilities via mesh networking.
Is pan and/or tilt reversed on any of the slave units?
You are able to invert the pan or tilt or both through the display and via DMX.
In the video the lights go opposite of each other, so curious as to which ones if any are set to reverse pan and/or tilt. Or does setting them at slave 1,2,3,4 do it by nature. Thanks for the reply.
I really like your tutorial
Is the IR sensor also on the back of the unit. This is something that mosty manufacturers annoyingly miss
+Nick Davies It's on the front of the base of the unit
Does novbody in your company realise that most mobile DJ's work from behind the lights.
You have IR sensor at back and front on the Gigbar why not on your other products?
+Nick Davies Thanks for your product feedback. We will be sure to pass it over to our product development team.
I have all my lights chauvet
Please please PLEASE! Put an ir sensor on the back of the unit....what are you guys thinking?!?!
Thanks for reaching out, we will forward your request to our product development team.
I’m confused, are these wireless? Because the inputs/outputs are just DMX Male and female?
These are not wireless.
CHAUVET DJ ah sorry, my mistake. These are connect using DMX just not without the lighting desk.
Hallo, a question ??? Can U make a video for a obey 70 & intimidator spot 375z . How to begin DMX , Thanks
From what I can see my 355Z's don't have a totem mode. Is this correct?
My 355Z IRC has Totem mode !!!
the first shipment of 355Z did not have totem mode because the onboard memory was full, however all later shipments did have it. enjoy!!
