Excellent job. I recently picked up a CIJ Jazzmaster and using your link in the article I discovered it’s a 1994 FujiGen. Very lightweight - sounds and plays amazing. Just needs some shielding now. Also - it came with a Mastery bridge and trem system. Stays in tune very well. Lastly - i swapped the pickups for Fender Pure Vintage 65 and I’m very pleased. Thank you for your video!
Hi Frank, I agree. Before I made this video I toyed with the idea of doing a pickup swap on the white one and making a before/after video. I guess I'll just leave it as it is as it has a mojo of its own.
Yes, I think Fender Japan released a JM with stock Tune-o-matic around 2008. Over here in Europe there is currently the Japan Elemental Jazzmaster HH RW Stone Black available, which offers a TOM-style Bridge. Other than that there might be options to retrofit JMs, but caution and research should be applied here. I think Roller style TOMs are the way to go here. Maybe check with a guitar builder/ luthier. Retrofitting Jags with TOMs is a bit more common, I think. If I remember correctly the Japan Jaguar in my Jaguar Shootout Video had a TOM.
Wow they sound great, I really want a Mexican TVL jazzmaster the oxblood one also I hear that many of the Japanese jazzmasters actually had single coils over the traditional JM ones and were just outfitted esthetically to look like traditional ones is that true you seem to know alot about made in Japan Fenders?? Had a made in Japan Gibson was a fantastic player. Give it to the Swiss, German, and Japanese when it come to engineering excellence 🙌🏼 🇯🇵 👏🏼
Hi Derrick, yes the TVL looks great, however I always think about the additional costs on future refrets because of the binding :) Regarding the Pickups: You can find more info on that in this article on reverb: reverb.com/news/american-vs-japanese-fender-jazzmasters-whats-the-difference
Hi Breeze Smith, in my musical universe I rarely go straight into the amp so for me it's just not realistic reviewing a guitar without any pedals in the mix. Even though the pedal setup as a whole looks quite big I usually only have one or two pedals going (i think three is the max :). If you want to hear some more direct tones I invite you to visit my Instagram (Paulrenogram), I recently posted some clips showcasing amps where I went straight in with different guitars (not the Jazzmasters Tho).
I actually don't own all the stuff I present :) In this case big thanks to Mathieu for supplying the CIJ as a Sparring Partner for my MIJ. Rule of thumb in my studio is: Whatever has not been used for 1 year has to go.

Hi, yes, my Jazzmaster is also very light, I guess that’s the basswood.
Wow, you're definitively a crafty guitarist and videomaker. +1 Sub.
Hi Andromeda, Thank you very much!
Nice demo showing how it sits in a mix
Hi Michael, thank you very much!
Red seems to be a bit brighter but I prefer the white one :)

i prefer the sound of the white one (MIJ)
Like I said in the video, I'm biased since the white one was my go-to guitar for quite some time, butI agree :)
Well... Through all the processors, how can you tell what either of them sound like?? 🤣

@@botherangel They sure have some nice exclusives over in Japan. Also the Hybrid series looks interesting!
