I wouldn't say that, tbh... People tend to forget that DMC3 had some REALLY obnoxious enemy designs like enigmas, bloodgoyles, the fallen, etc. 4 isn't much better and has some terrible stage gimmicks. 5 takes it for me, best bosses and second best enemy design
A Chair i agree about dmc5 having the best bosses - by far actually - i just think that even with dmc3's shortcomings, a playthrough of 3 holds up the best out of any game in the series. The tone, the characters, the setting (temen ni gru), the music, and dante's more accessible moveset (i know people like style changing on the fly, but it always fucked with me. picking one style lets u focus on reactions so much more). idk, ill just always appreciate how complete and yet digestible the dmc3 package is
Only DMC 1 and 3 are masterpieces, DMC5 is great but it lacks the charisma and atmosphere, amazing art style and setting of 1 and 3, 2 speaks for itself and 4 is absurdly mediocre except for its combat and it introduced Nero, my most hated character in the series
