    Lived in Las Colinas for years. Beautiful area quiet at night and weekends and close enough to uptown to go but far enough to keep you away. Same with the uh establishments on northwest highway 😂

    Call Dallas my hometown, but it’s technically Irving as in Las Colinas area where I grew up. I moved away to California for many years, and now I don’t recognize the place. All the Mesquite hills are covered with concrete and freeways. Irving is now like practically a mega city on its own. But that at least has brought it subculture. When I grew up it was a big incubator for the baby boom, close to Dallas. It’s now still close to Dallas but it’s beginning to have a little bit more diversity which is great

    South Irving is fine. I have lived in Irving since the early 70s. Irving was much nicer prior to the 90s but it’s still safe, family oriented and there are pockets of not great areas just like any neighborhood. The worst thing that has happened in Irving in my opinion was when they ended the dry spell and allowed liquor to be sold. I’m not impressed with all of the new builds, sure they aren’t horrible but there are so many beautiful homes and properties that have been around for many years and they offer a lot of character.

    I'm from Irving, or what I consider "original" Irving. Las Colinas is slowly moving over it feels. I get irritated when I see development in Irving but advertising for "Coppell ISD". So they want to build on Irving land but send their tax dollars and kids to Coppell? Irritating since the influx of dollars from those new build communities can actually help Irving ISD make the improvements needed. For context, I went to Elementary, Middle, High school - all in Irving then UTA for college. I love seeing the development in the area and it's a BOMB location for jobs. Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth are all within 30 minutes. Centrally located. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people that feels like I'm getting priced out of where I grew up. All of the houses that are becoming available are too small which doesn't work well for couples that both work from home and kids or they are those large new builds that are $700k+. Irving also has some of the WORST foundation/soil in the whole DFW. Expect constant foundation problems. Irving was beer & wine only for YEARS all the liquor stores were built in the last 5 years. I believe Irving started selling hard liquor in 2018? So for someone like me FROM Irving, it's shocking to see all the liquor too haha. It would have been nice in my early 20s so I didn't have to drive to Dallas for liquor! I grew up close to the Irving mall and I used to say "nothing is close but nothing is too far either" about Irving lol. There's not a lot of fitness studios and coffee shops, but getting to one isn't hard with all of the highways and location. Overall, it's a safe place to live and I'm sure there will be more development since Las Colinas seems to be taking over!

    I LIVE IN IRVING

  • @wetcrow_com
    @wetcrow_com 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Irving is not a place I would want to live if I was buying a home. Poor school systems, thugs hanging out at liquor stores, higher crime than other Dallas suburbs, more renters than homeowners = parties + gun shots. Just like some areas of Atlanta, Irving has higher crime and not as family oriented. Realtors selling homes in Irving will not tell you the true facts or cons. If schools are not first rate, your property value will go down; not up, when you decide to sell. I find homes smaller in Texas, where they are bigger in the Atlanta metro, overall. I would take Georgia over Texas any day. I have lived in both over the years and prefer Georgia by far,

    • @LIVINGINDALLAS
      @LIVINGINDALLAS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tom! Just like any large city, there are parts that are better in terms of safety, schools, and amenities. Glad you're enjoying Georgia, though!

    WTF happened @ 10:01 - Cons of Living in Irving; the powers that be, must have shut your ass up for having "CONS". LMAO, My dad was the first Hispanic to have moved to Irving in 1959, I I was 1 yr old; left for grad school and Psych practice in LA in 1990- returned in 1999 and def noticed that going south of Hwy 183, was like going South of the Border. The wen here live to call animal control when they see me a homeless disabled veteran will my dogs. They won't lift a finger to help but they can pick up their cell phone and tell animal control that it's cruel to tether my dog while I go to an office to send a fax or print a form. News flash homeless people don't have a home for their dog and the don't have a back yard genius cell phone complainer wanna be hero. In another incident, I was so fatigued from homelessness that I passed out plus I felt I'll. Another cell phone hero calls animal control and they show up with the cops and have me run off. How does this solve the problem. It only scatters the problem and makes my dilemma worse.
    Thankfully real heros exist somewhere in America....several states over and on the edge of the opposite in of America. These veterans, combat news anchor, ex congressman from a state far away, and many other military and veteran heros are dropping everything to have a team of people do a rescue mission to rescue me from the combat of living on the streets with my two dogs. These cell phone complainers are nothing but an attack squad trying to kill the homeless. So sad millions of people see me homeless everyday, but it take real combat heroes across several state line to rescue me. What a disgrace to disabled homeless veterans that Irving Texas is. They pretend to care about veterans but they persecute and harrass and dehumanize the homeless veterans in the street Infront of their face. The real heroes are coming and shame in Irving. Irving us a real combat zone if hypocrisy snobbery and hate. They do not deserve to be in senate and they definitely don't deserve the white house. It's all a show.
